The Timber Mountain Log Ride orignially opened at Knott's Berry Farm in 1969, remains as one of the most elaborate log flume rides in the U.S. The much anticipated attraction opened on July 11, 1969 with film legend John Wayne taking the inaugural ride.
The $3.5 million attraction was originally funded entirely by its designer Bud Hurlbut who had previously designed Knott's Berry Farm's classic Calico Mine Ride. Hurlbut, a pioneer in the theme park attraction industry, wanted his flume ride to be a completely immersive experience.
The Calico Log Ride, as it was originally named, takes guests through an 85-foot tall mountain range themed to a nineteenth-century lumber camp. The ride, housed in an eight-story building, includes 24,000 gallons of water that circulates free floating logs past a variety of mechanical figures and taxidermied animals culminating in a 38 foot tall drop.
On January 7, 2013 the Log Ride was closed to undergo an extensive revitalization. Knotts worked with Garner Holt Productions to restore classic scenes, upgrade ride figures and sets as well as adding new scenes and characters to enhance the ride experience while still maintaining the original theming and storyline of the attraction. It reopened on May 30, 2013 to critical acclaim.

This was always my favorite log flume ride because of the scenery and animatronics, just plain fun and very relaxing, always worth a ride every time I was at the park.
Really? U liked this one better than Splash mountain at Disney? Interesting. I find this one to come in second, the one at six flags is not as good as this one though.

PS The sense of smell is the single greatest factor that the memory remembers. Look it up. And yes, chlorine has a smell.

A few things you need to know before riding this ride:
1. The flume goes way faster than it seems
2. RIDE IT AT NIGHT (so good)
3. You can see everything, the camera doesn’t pick up as much
Its not that fast its actually pretty relaxing, the drop is pretty decent, just enough for a lil splash
And for the drop in the dark, very unexpected and scary!

When I was in the third grade, I went on a field trip to knott’s. We were there to learn about *Native Americans,* but later in the day (it was very hot) the teachers let us go on this ride. I took all my friends, up to the front seat, and we all freaked out. It was a very *epic* experience. That was the day we all bonded closer together today. *(Of course, I had the weirdest face at the photos >:c)*
I took my 3rd grader today and he said, “mom I’m traumatized!” Hahahaha I’m sure he won’t ever forget. Sweet memories.

This is like The Log Ride we have at Six Flags Over Texas... but without all the hoopla... it is just a quite ride that gives you a break from all the excitement around you. It is relaxing, fun, and cools you off in the Texas summer heat!

This seems like a pretty great themed log flume. I'm amazed by what they can do with the space restrictions.
I'm seriously scared of heights and roller coasters took my 10 year old on this for her first roller coaster my anxiety was thru the roof the whole time ... Still by far the best coaster she only ride one coaster this was it. They definitely could add more safety though if that thing does fly off the corners of could be bad it does go pretty high up.

It is always like that on water rides especially flume rides. They do warn you you may get wet so water on the bum is to be expected. Lol.

It really is. I've been on this ride 100+ times
Last time I went on it, we were so heavy, we were cyst cruising past everything! And the drop? Half a second
When you're a kid, that drops feels much longer. Growing up tho, yeah it's like half a second and not much thrill to it anymore. But the experience of the ride never gets old.
I've never seen a log flume with characters. This ride is awesome.

Fun story .
As an employee in the early 70s and for Halloween , I had the BEST job during Knotts (early) Halloween Haunt . I was stationed at the entrance of the sawmill on the Catwalk @0:57 upper left . The logs were replaced with "bodies' being sawed upon by ghoulish woodsmen . The creators gave me a control panel with 6 pushbuttons , each with a different sound effect ...a howl, blood curtling scream , a witch's cackle etc... AND a bunch of wiggly creatures that I would tie to the balls of kite string left for me . I couldn't wait to get to work each afternoon ! NOTHING is better than touching one face or the BACK of the last rider with a creepy crawler ! I laughed so hard I almost fell from that catwalk and by the end of the night , riders had found me out and were aiming squirt guns at me....AND I WAS PAID TO DO THIS ! Ahh , the good old days !

I remember riding this once as a kid and absolutely hating it, all I could remember was it had no scenery and only one small drop. Holy cow! I was so wrong! This looks like such a fun ride!!

In the 1970s I rode this one; I don't recommend it getting older as slipping was somewhat of a problem. Great ride. I live in the Roseville, CA area these days and haven't been back but once in 1982 for my Grandparents 62nd. marriage anniversary; when we went to Mrs. Knott's chicken dinner restaurant. Back then they still had great cooks.

Knott's Log Ride is the original and the best.
Went on this ride yesterday. One new thing I noticed was instead of a generic voice telling you to keep your hands inside the log, there’s an entire song about it.
I got forced on this ride in 3rd grade even though i told my teacher i was afraid of it.

That ride attendant was thick and sexy as hell!!!!! Also this is one of the coolest water rides I've ever seen. The only one I've ridden is one at Six Flags over Georgia, but it had no indoor scenes like this one. Very innovative and looks like a ton of fun.
