    I Paid $6500 for my 2014 3.7 L V6 AWD White Taurus Interceptor. It had 135k miles but all highway miles as it was a former Pennsylvania State Police car and PA is a huge state. You will get good and bad attention with it. Good is that you will feel safer driving it since everyone stops for you at Stop signs or even give you right of way when it's theirs or u won't get cut off or they will let you merge in and out of traffic without issue. Bad is if you drive thru a shady area you get looks from people who are guilty of something or up to no good.

    Buy a cop car for X amount and go to a scrap yard and get the upgrades for about $200 to $800. Still cheaper. I bought a 2003 cvpi for $600(cad) and upgraded it for $400(cad). It had 138,893km on it. Civilian model of same year and about the same mileage at the time was minimum $2500(cad).

      Jay Byrd, interior is what I was after. I put cruise in and a console with leather seats. I also found an am/fm/cassette/CD player and factory amp with sub and external 12 pack player that was factory from a Lincoln. I had fun modding my Vic. Plus I even changed the grille to a chrome one. I beat more mustangs, vettes, chargers, challengers and camaros than I did before I changed the grille. IF you cannot have fun with a Vic, then let the real men have fun.

    I wouldn't say they're better but like the civilian versions they have their pros and cons. Considering that you spend most of the time inside your car and not outside looking at it so I really like a nice, comfortable interior. These PI versions interiors leave a lot to be desired as they pretty much lack everything. new vs new, a police version of any vehicle is stronger and better performing. used vs used, stay far away from police vehicles. Thats like buying a car from a teenager. Its been run VERY hard, and it doesnt matter how much maintenance you do it still has far more wear&tear than a regular vehicle.
    i was dumb enough to buy a p71 on 2 different occasions, never again lol. I have no problem working on a car myself, i can rebuild engines and swap out any parts needed on a car, but i get tired of doing it every damn week on these fords. So I'm part of the civilian taurus club with the SHO and I won't say the price I got it for cuz it will hurt some feelings. Let's just say it was a steal(Peter griffin voice🤣). But no seriously guys I'm going to buy a PI taurus as well just not sure which one yet but you are definently a bad influence cuz now I want it even more now. But just a tip for a lot of you PI owners. If you want it to have a lot of the interior shit swapped for the low, go to your local pick-n-pull but you have to get there as soon as the car comes in to your local one. They get stripped down quickly. But for example I stripped down a 2013 limited and took the speedometer, dvd/cd receiver, and touch screen monitor. Could've took the whole console all the way down to the cup holders if I wanted to. I resell them but it's a way to get cheap shit for taurus.

    They are built better than the others and the lights can be used for delivering food at night via GrubHub or DoorDash LOL. You can get the mechanical parts for the civilian models but the engines are the same which is sad becasue of the issues with the 3.5 and 3.7 liter. Many well equipped police stations have the funds to keep these serviced more than a civilian version. It really forces Ford to build there cars better the Fusion and the Taurus are police cars in my location. I owned a white Civilian Fusion with dark tent....many people confused it for a police car and would slow down.

      Monster RAM that's about 165K idle hours. Ford goes by 33 miles for one hour

    • @chadrafferty8345
      @chadrafferty8345 6 лет назад

      Idle hours are not as bad as in previous older models , the computer takes that into consideration when triggering the “Change oil light”. 3K miles with a lot of idle time , 10K with no idle highway use.

    • @monsterram6617
      @monsterram6617 6 лет назад +1

      There's no hard calculation for idle hours to mileage, mostly because there are way too many variables to get an accurate estimate. You can find anywhere from 1:10 past 1:60 and yes, Ford estimates about 1:33, however; I figured on the high side since it was a police cruiser that has obviously seen plenty of street time. Either way, this is an enormous amount of extra engine wear. Even with your 165k estimate, add in the 64K actual mileage and you've got nearly 230,000 on an engine designed for a domestic passenger car, not severe duty. It doesn't matter that the computer considers idle time into when it illuminates the "change oil" light. That is doing nothing to prevent the normal wear on the rotating mechanisms. 5,000 hours x 1,000 RPM at idle and you have an engine with 300,000,000 more revolutions of wear on the cam, crank, rings, bearings, cylinder bore, etc, etc.
      But hey, don't let me stop you guys from spending your money buying beat service vehicles.

      not to mention the 3.5TT + laptop is 100 HP and 100 TQ more than the 3.7. mine has heated and cooled seats and if you get the perf pack you get all the PI forged internals etc. One is a lux sport sedan, one is a state financed work truck,

    • @One_Bar
      @One_Bar Год назад

      @@RayoAtra well the TT is already 60 and 70 over the 3.7, so if you're only getting 40 and 30 out of a tune, I'd be getting my money back. 5 Star Tuning took a 2015 SHO from 315/331 on 93 to 418/488 on 93 with a tune, different intake, and cat-back exhaust. The tune for the 3.5 alone does about 20-25 each over stock and reconfigures the curves and throttle.

    Do idle hours matter as much on these as the crown vics looking at one with 8585 total hours

    I'm gonna be honest, entry-level trim vehicles are worthless. I buy the highest trim I can get. I honestly think retired cop cars should be recycled. I've heard of douche bags buying these to be douche bags. I've seen people on YT say they get flipped off by people because they slowed down thinking they were cops. My gf and I could have picked a retired tahoe but decided to go with a badass sierra denali. We have an explorer too, but don't want bare bones and tears everywhere. I respect you're opinion, but I actually use my cameras and heated/cooled seats.

    i am relentlessly getting told to stay away from a Crown Vic all together, but specifically the police versions, they kick the shit out of them, your constantly going to be getting it fixed, its going to be more money to fix than its worth, and the biggest thing my mom keeps saying, "no girl is going to want to get in a "Blues Brothers car". i wanted to say, i'm getting a CVPI not a 1974 Dodge Monico.....

    • @KB-bh9hp
      @KB-bh9hp 6 лет назад

      Erika_itsumi Do what you want. I'll put it this way, crown vics are the best 1-3 grand cars on the planet. If you're budget is like 5-10k +, there are better options, maybe not more reliable options, but more luxurious and stylish options. Crown vics are heavily abused often, but they're some of the most reliable cars ever made, so they can take alot of abuse without breaking. But you need to keep in mind , at the end of the day, these are vehicles with probably well over 100k on them. Any vehicle with that many miles is likely to start having issues relatively soon. My grandma's perfectly mantained camry for example blew up at 87k, her prius at 63k and my uncles Tacoma at 18k blew it's engine. What's the pattern here? Those were all well mantained cars from a relatively reliable brand, but that doesn't guarantee reliablity, so you need to be careful. A crown vic is actually a great way to tell if the person you're in a relationship/friendship is worth staying around. Think about it, if you're partner or friend is making a big deal over your car, they probably aren't worth keeping around, so you'll be able to know who's worth keeping around and who isn't lol, plus, the blues brothers is one of the best movies ever made lol, so that's a plus, gives you something to joke about. But if you really want a reliable, yet more upscale yet somewhat affordable car, look into a lincoln town car from like the early 2000s. They're based off the same platform, so they, in theory, would have the same reliability benefits as a crown vic, but they aren't used and abused as cop cars, and they're obviously more luxurious, yet, I'd bet you could find one for like 3-5k.

      @Sublight77 3 года назад

      The p71 crown vics have been known to go 200-300k + miles. You see all the taxi cabs are mostly retired police crown vics, one of the more reliable and easy to maintain cars ever
