Mmmm, Operation C for Game Boy has all the brutal battle flavor of the NES hit Contra. But here's the bite: This time it's Scorpion alone against Black Viper - Red Falcon's partner in slime - who's turned a secret naval lab into an experimental alien freak factory. To blow away Black Viper's pit of hideous genetic mishaps, you must blitz 5 merciless war zones, including Mutant Mountain, Phlegm Forest and the dreaded Cave O' The Crud Creatures. All infested with mutant snipers, bloodthirsty squid lice, savage spider moths, devastating techno-terrors and more. Of course, in true Contra style, you'll have to upgrade your arms as you go with Spread Guns, Fire Guns and the all new vermin-seeking Homing Gun. Three lives plus a Continue mode may keep you going. But Black Viper's awfully hungry and you're going to make a tasty Blue Plate Special.
Something i noticed is that when you press Start instead of the explosion sound effect you hear a jingle, unlike in the international releases. i'm planning on playing this game with the euro release that is Probotector, and i wanna try to beat this game without any weapon upgrade and without dying. maybe it would be a good idea to do it with the Game Boy Color version of this game found on Konami GB Collection since it is the same game but with colour.
Bravo! You manage to jump past the waterfall in Area 3 without using the metal bridge before fighting the final boss. The metal bridge is activated by hitting the waterfall banks multiple times.
@@eightcoins4401 Ya, that jump in that stage is really annoying! I try so many times and the odds of having a successful jump is so low! Out of frustration, I just keep shooting any places, and that bridge suddenly appears no where!
At least they didn't lie about the console this time, since it was called GameBoy in Japan too. Interestingly, the logo isn't in Kanji, but in kana. Was it because of the screen resolution?
I never played this one. Ho, lots of element mix up from Contra and Super Contra from famicom in this game ^0^. A bit let down for the final without a final boss fight but, thats ok ^^. Good game from a viewing perspective and never played this one 😁. Funplaythrough from SCHLAUCHI and thumb up for World of Longplays youtuber 👍.
Had my wisdom teeth taken out. Mom pitied me and got this to help bide my time as I recovered. I was in serious pain but somehow shooting the shit out of an invading alien army made it a little better.
Saturday morning, you're alone, just ate your breakfast, and ready to shoot some aliens on your colorless gameboy until batteries runs out to play on your megadrive Truely a 1992 moment
So here is me 31 years later as a 40 year old looking at this video thinking shit, I don’t think I ever made it past the 9 minute mark and played this game for hours months on end 😹
I didn’t know there was a Game Boy Contra. Nice play! The music is so nostalgic.
There's also a port of Contra III. ^^
Same I just found out when I saw it on ebay just got it love the gameboy
Me neither
The ending theme is awesome
Wait a... This is the japanese version of Operation C on the GameBoy.
I have lots of memories with this game. That ending soundtrack gives me goosebumps.

Man. Konami's 8 and 16-bit music was god-tier.
Isn't this 4-bit
The Game Boy actually had an 8-bit Sharp LR35902 processor, clocked at 4.19 MHz.
@@CornishCreamtea07 .... 🤦🏼♂️
Fun fact:
This was meant to be the original contra 3.

Quite impressive for a game boy game. It actually looks like a blast to play.
I remember playing this on my gameboy with a cartridge named "super 68" and it was 68 games inside one cart.
This game was my favorite of the 68
I remember just throwing in some letters on the password screen and got a huge leap forward.
I'm always interested on the contra aliens lore on how they were made like some of the boss have human features
O,nostalgia :")
Le jeu qui a marqué mon enfance

So thats why that jump always felt kinda bullshit

I played the european version of this in the 90s.

You missed a boulder.

My childhood in a nutshell
I remember my brother borrowed this game and Mega Man: Dr Wily's Revenge.
Not that it matters but is this the japanese cart or why there was a japanese logo? Awesome stuff, as always.
Had my wisdom teeth taken out. Mom pitied me and got this to help bide my time as I recovered. I was in serious pain but somehow shooting the shit out of an invading alien army made it a little better.
I just got hydros. lol
Saturday Morning Contra

I came here at the same age as you to see the ending again.
What a niche to have a talent in the '80s.
aka OPERATION C
in GAME BOY ROM, all you need is that one, a GAME BOY Emulator, and your PC.
Amazing!!
Reminds me of Commando from c64
