I got one of these from a co-worker last year to just knock around on at work. It started not charging. So it's just been sitting. I searched for solutions and this video came up and that is exactly what is wrong with mine. Thank you for making this. I wish I had checked for help months ago.

I have two of these laptops. Both of them seem to have the exact same problem. Clearly a problem with the design of that connector. Will flow some solder over the gap and give it another try! Thanks!

Teacher I need your advice, a friend of mine gave me his Aacer Aspire E1 Z5WE1 which does not show me any activity and it drives me insane. The 4GB memory and the HDD are fine as I tested them on another laptop but the Acer laptop just wont turn on. I connected the power supply on it and it shows me the LEDs that its receiving power but when I take out the battery and put on the power supply and hit the power button, the laptop will power on for 2-3 seconds because I hear the fan spin but after that it turns off and nothing, I dont even get a screen blinking or anything. Any advice would be so helpful :)

@Electronics repair school. Hi, is this a common problem with the Lenovo IdeaPad 110s? I'm guessing that it is because this is the problem with the woman's IdeaPad that I am working on, so big thanks to you for this video, you did do a nice video on this issue.
Also, you should make a video showing us how to remove the charging port where it's soldered onto the motherboard. That would be nice since I usually just replace the motherboard if it's less than $75.
I hate to say this about Lenovo but I believe that this issue was intentionally manufactured this way so the end user would have to have it repaired. I'm sure that they already have a Algorithm worked out that would tell them about how many customers will ship their laptop back to them for repair. I call it the laptop for lets say costs $250 but they'll make another $100 or more, in the long run, so in other words, it'll be a $350 Laptop. If anyone has had this happen to them, maybe you could leave a comment sharing with us on how much Lenovo wanted to charge to repair it. I seem to think that they'd want $100 to repair it because that would seem to be an allowable amount before too many customers would complain. That's just my guess..... I seem to remember HP doing that with their 9000 Series Laptop's [Usually] running either an Intel, or AMD Platform's with the Nvidia Graphic's Chipset. If you can remember, the Nvidia Chipset would come loose from the Motherboard, causing the ''Black Screen Issue.'' I had to repair a few of those by reheating the Motherboard, then while heating the Chip, ''Press down on it'' till it was reseated. I only had about a 35-40% success rate, which was good from what other people who repaired Laptop's that I was doing well but it started turning into a hassle because that was the only repairs I was getting, so I called it quits.

my daughter has this was working removed keyboard to replace switched back on worked perfect turned it off and back on to make sure and now doesn't work power light turns on on its own for few seconds then off and on nothing comes on the screen

I love watching you work here from the UK & was wondering if you could help me, I have a sony Vaio SZ1XP/C the laptop works ok starts up but my problem is the screen some times the screen starts fine then all of a sudden the backlight goes off but your able to see the windows in the background, have you any ideas what it could be, please.

so all you did is short the bios battery and it came on? I have had a few dead laptops but did not know how to fix them. edit seems its just loose.
