I was about to put charging wires directly to second mosfet but I did not have the balls to do it. I found schematics, and the board itself is like 40-50 euro with cpu attached. But I tried your method and everything worked. Thank you , good man.
Just keep doing repairs like you always have. That’s what we love about your channel. What you call dodgy is genius to most of us. If it works like it should when your done it’s not dodgy, it’s done and working.
it is already awesome to bring to life a non working board, consider the work under pressure thinking that if it takes too much time to get the job done that will be zero profit for the shop, and since the shop is probably not Apple Inc. even half an hour matters. I think it's beautiful how he can revive a dead laptop in just an hour and then be ready to move on to the next one.

The manufacturer does not want you to repair it. That is why they have priority chips installed. They don't have to publish the pinouts. They would rather have you return it to them for repair or purchase a new unit, Because of this you are forced to develop ways to work around the problem (be dodgy??). As you develop these repair methods you increase your value to the customer (and employer). You should never have to apologize for your knowledge or work ethic.
This video is extremely helpful. I am having this same problem with a Dell Precision M3800 that I am working on. Customer had a damaged charging port, and a bad internal battery. Replaced both and the laptop ran for the rest of the day but I did not realize it was not charging. The battery icon on the task bar showed it was charging but it really wasn't. The laptop was just running off the pre-charged battery. When it finally died I had no clue why it wasn't charging with a new port and new battery. The symptoms I am experiencing is very similar to this case. No power, not charging, not coming on.

Sometimes removing battery when the laptop is working then plug it back solves not charging battery problems on lenovo.try it with original charger when it's plugged in and laptop is on.the chip brand Lenovo seems as sio chip or keyboard driver chip and it's working (my mind)
Did you notice when running on Battery power (without AC adapter) It is indicating Charging in task bar, Like Fake Charging without charger. That 1st Mosfet Gate pin connected to 4R7 (PR302) & go to 2nd Mosfet(pq312) 4th pin (Gate) & connected to the PR310 (59B) then go to BQ24780S IC 4th Pin.
Hey! Good job. But you have to check the second mosfet, the second mosfet is the actual problem. When you read it, you will see that it has short to ground that is why it’s not allowing the first mosfet to pass the current to the second mosfet.
Sorin! Its probably too late already, but still. Some laptops require you to screw down every little screw, in order for the battery to start charging. You will see some videos on youtube where the laptop is working from AC cable, but the battery is not charging. At the moment when you screw in all the little screws holding the motherboard and case, the battery starts to charge. It's a known feature for some HP, Lenovo and Acer laptops. It won't charge until all screws are at place.
Hi Sorin, happy new year!!! I do have the same thing with a different Lenovo. I also bridged first mosfet because nothing on gate but rest is "ok". BUT! It also is not charging, did you recognize, that with 9V on the charging port, the battery IS CHARGING! WEIRD! If you can, please figure out the reason, it woult help many of us I think 😊
well you should be dodgy sometimes and keep modifying when you can. I think we all learn more from your shortcuts and modifications. Keep the good work Sorin 👍👍
You can try replacing the first Mosfet, or the driver ic. Or go on forums and see if anyone knows about the driver ic. And like another comment said, check the second Mosfet (that's a great idea, I never thought of that one! 😉).

Happy New Year Sorin, and you Family.
Welcome Sorin!! And have a happy and nice new year!!
You can try replacing the first Mosfet, or the driver ic. Or go on forums and see if anyone knows about the driver ic. And like another comment said, check the second Mosfet (that's a great idea, I never thought of that one! 😉).
Happy new year sorin! I'm happy you are back!
Happy New year 🎉 and nice to see you again
Hi sir.. İ have to same laptop and having the same issue.. İ have been looking for the solutions for a while . But, İ had the similar issue with Asus laptop. No charcing and no power when İ take the battery out , computer works properly. A computer repair-man fixed the current issue. He found a broken resistance in charging battery part. When he replaced the resistance. Computer started charcing and working very well... Maybe, my commentary helps you
Happy New Year Sorin!!! Keep up the good work!
