Nice fix Sorin! I hate trashed laptops like this. One problem fixed - you have another. I had this kind of job recently. Customer gave me trashed Asus. Told me to put SSD instead of DVD, Install Windows, upgrade RAM. Before do anything I checked if the computer is working in the first place. Surprisingly - he did. Then I assembled laptop back again he was dead. Spend hours to figure out the problem, and found that power cable was dodgy. Laptop was opened like thousand times before by the customer itself (screws damaged, in wrong places, different sizes, used even screws for wood!) A few pins were partly broken. I told the customer about the problem, he agreed to took it back and had no complains. After few hours, he contacted me and blamed that I damaged his laptop. Keyboard, touchpad was not working, because he lifted WHOLE screwed motherboard with cables still in places. In the end of the day, I was one who is guilty. So yeah, dodgy laptops and dodgy customers should be avoided in any possible way.
@@sodiumtechnologiesug366 Don't think so. Its a customer after all. Just do your best, and like Sorin said - "if I don't check that connector, most likely customer come back and say "You broke my touchpad". So take your time, fix that you can fix to avoid any problems, if needed, just inform customer about situation. If he agrees with that you offered and advised - it's a win. Dunno, I'm talking from my point of view. Maybe someone comes with better idea and story,
Thank you sir you're the best i am watching your videos since tow years and it helps me a lot with my small repairing project here in Damascus, wish you wealth and health and more success
we love you sorin.but we never have charging port problems in our country.im very shocked to see how many charging port jobs you do i n your videos.love from sri lanka
Not many business do this any more.. usually they say oh it will be 50 bucks to fix.. and when it is done the job is 500 dollars when you paid 100 bucks for the lap top.. Only honest business men do business the way you do.. and there seems to me to be less and less of those every day.. thanks Sorin..
i know. shit ive got a lenovo ideapad z370, it literally looks brand new. the only thing is that the front cover has 3 very deep scratches, the keyboard is worn and the plastic has become brittle. nothings been replaced on the system physically. ive done upgrades on the processor to a core i5, changed the original hdd to a 512GB ssd, applied new thermal paste (MX-4) and lubricated the fan. its from 2011.
Brilliant as always, I have a charging issue with a Lenova Yogi Book, sent it back to Lenova, just 3 months outside the warranty and they wanted £158 to replace thetab LV KB assembly Wacom AP101 604 GB, A tab LV YB1 X90 USB FPC and a TB LV Micro USB Cable CD 22 1 m 2 BLACK ,and TAB lV micro USB cable CD 22 1 m 2a black , the machine brand new was only £278 so their repair would amount to 58% of the actual purchase price.I then discovered this is a fairly common fault reported by many people but Lenova didn't care, I wrote to them appealing to their better nature but no joy, decided against the repair as I can charge it ,I Just have to wiggle the charging cable around until the light comes on, sure wish you lived near me here in the UK.
Sir your laptop technician skills are amazing, I've recently had a problem with my Lenovo laptop G50-30 it switches off automatically while working from it. Don't really know what seems to be the problem, I think I need to replaced it with a better and faster one. Keep up the good work your videos are very inspiring.
Thanks for the video. You give many universal tips, which can point someone in the right direction. One thing : Is there a reason why you don't use a hot glue gun? They heat the glue out of a small nozzle, so they're very useful for precise work. They're very cheap too. Maybe it can save you some time?
I think because hot glue gun heats up way longer and they are olways broken , hot air reaching operating temparature in few seconds , if you have skill in your hands you dond need precision 😜
when i disassemble a laptop i always prefer screen lid in upright position rather then shut. i broke enough hinges to learn this. i am not saying you caused hinges to broke and i believe they were been broken for a while but generally if you unscrew the hinges from bottom and lift the screen up you will highly likely to break the hinges from base because of wear and tear and the pressure.
Great content !! I repair hinges too and to me best combo is two component epoxy just on screw stands and hot glue to seall it all.. It will never came apart.. Hot glue usualy holds good for some time, depends on a user... but it's not very good permanent solution
I would not mind paying for the broken thing that was found in the process, like repairing the hinge. But I bet many people get mad in such situations and Sorin just doesn't want to deal with that.

For hindges i personaly use acrilic resin for dental fixtures. Two component cold cured for reparing acrilic dentures. Liquid monomer and powder polimer, bonds in 10min. Some laptops have mixed plastics whit too much policarbonate in the mix, only than bond can be problematic. Othervise its beter that original
You can tell by looking at it that it's being used in a high humidity environment. The owner may have a humidifier or live in a damp area but you can tell whenever zoomed in that everything has that slimy/gunky coating on it from electronics being used in a damp environment. It won't last too much longer, in my experience.
11:10 you are taking your chances. Someone has been already messed up with this laptop. That's why the first question to the customer should be "has this laptop ever been opened before?". To avoid any future issues.
Sorry I misread the date ? I will try to find a more recent video where you show that tool . Hello those cool clamp pliers are not sold anymore ? The models I see are bigger (Woolkraft and others) I have those kind but small may be better for delicate pressing (?) regards
I have a lenovo yoga 3 pro that is completely dead. No lights. But I get voltage in some places. Ordered new connector for power to motherboard. Still nothing. What parts in the laptop can I remove to get some diagnose? Everything? Thanks

to diagnose a faulty charging port is easy and done in less then 1minute!...Multimeter on resistance and test the plus minus pins...is there a high ohm readings, its clear that the Charging Port is connected to the board!! if there is still no readings or open, then maybe the Port is the problem!! this were the easyest and cheapest fix! if there is a short , its difficulter, but even with a short you know, that the port is connected correct to the pcb
that's why always tell leave it we will check what is problem and than call you to inform you what are options. fix hinge repair board or power jack etc... idk for me this is more professional than giving direct price and thinking what can go wrong on the way of repairing it.
This job was nightmare, as at end of video where computer did not come on, So yes you fixed it but if at this stage it was not fixable do you still charge them for your time or give them it back free of charge.

try a magnet on the screwdriver to hold the screws keeps them in place and easy to reattach...
