I went to Longleat exhibit twice, when I studied over , in 1989-90. (Sept’89 - as season 26 started) and May, 1990 (when the fans didn’t quite know, yet some in the BBC did that Who was shelved.) I got two Dapol figures, 7th Doctor and Cyberman, and a few new Target novels. Great to see the props! As an American, who started to view Who on PBS, at age 11, with the 4th Doctor - going to Longleat was part of the pilgrimage route.
Seeing the SEA DEVIL is Great , I was at the Blackpool one ...., then a year later dr who started , and You right the black pool closed down ....crazy....
Looks like they shut off the police box entrance there, which was a shame. It's likely the exhibition closed after the Marquess of Bath, the one who asked BBC Enterprises to put the exhibition in there, died and his son became the Marquess. Likely he didn't want it there, so it closed. The original Blackpool exhibition shut down in 1985, probably due to the 18 month hiatus situation and the series' waning popularity, as well as overhead costs too. Though it was replaced by The Worlds of Doctor Who Exhibition at 3001 Space Adventure in London, installed there in 1988 (where I used to work), which lasted until the business went into liquidation in 1989.
Glad you enjoyed it. I've no idea why it was closed, it seems an odd decision to have made just when the series was returning! There was a sister exhibition at Blackpool, but I believe that's gone as well. I don't know if there's an exhibition around anywhere now that focusses on the classic series!

The Irony of it closing just before it came back!

Most of the classic props sold off at bonhams. No exhibition exists now for classic AND nuwho. Such a shame
I thought this closed in 93 after the fire.I always wanted to go in in the 80s as a kid.But never got past the box office
