I remember going to the sadly now closed exhibition in Blackpool or Doctor Who Museum as they called it back in 2005 and despite starting with Christopher Eccleston as my first Doctor, I really wanted to watch some Classic series episodes. My first episode of Classic Who was Earthshock because it had Cybermen and I wanted to learn more about them and afterwards, I began buying more Classic episodes.

The highlight for me was probably hearing Jonathan go "We have to take a picture, Mum! Where's the camera? Oh, I've got it."

I went to to the Longleat exhibition when I was younger. I was old enough to be vaguely remember it but only a like a few snatches of memory, like entering through the Tardis. So guess must have been between 5 and 8 ish.

I was at Longleat today, the TARDIS box is still there and has been painted white. A "Batcave" walk-through used to be there until last year when it was taken down, but the TARDIS is still standing strong in the exact same place. Nice to see that a part of the exhibition hasn't been removed.

This was actually my first doctor who experience, my mum and dad took me and by older bro to long leat when I was 6 or 7, I wasn't actually too sure or realised back then what most of it was from, but one of my favourite bits in that exhibition was behind this glass window they had a wax figure of a kid watching tv late at night in the lounge, and behind him is this door, and when you pressed one of the buttons in front of you it swung open to reveal a cyber man, I remember playing with it by clicking the button to only open the door a little crack to make it look like the cyberman was watching him showing him lurking behind the door

Hard to believe that the props were just behind a flimsy barrier.

Wonderful - I remember the Longleat Exhibition with great fondness - always the highlight of the Summer holidays!

This is awesome - thanks for uploading. I have vivid memories of the Longleat exhibition from the late 80s/early 90s... one of my earliest memories is being too terrified of the shouting dalek at the entrance to the exhibition and the very kind lady on the ticket desk letting me go into the exhibition from the exit (!) I'm hoping I can find some footage of that dalek somewhere. There was something brilliantly sinister about the dark passage ways, mostly lifeless costumes (with the occasional flicker of lumbering movement) and the smell of rotting latex...

It was such a sad day when I heard that Longleat had decided to finish the exhibitions. Went quite a few times, but have never gone back since they closed it. But glad they ran it for so many years.

Thanks for sharing this Matt! So cool. I think a lot of those exhibits ended up in the Blackpool Museum which I visited in 2009.

You were lucky to grow up not only in a country that has conventions regularly but also at a time when a lot of the classic props were still around

I wasn't born until 5 years later but the Cybermen at the start were played by Members of Hyde Fundraisers, a team I went on to working with and still am to this day!

Great video. I went to the Doctor Who days at Longleat (first Sunday of August) from 1998 to 2003 - the final one.

What a great video. It might not be as professional as the DWE, but it sure is just as magical, I would've loved to have been there, but unfortunately, I wasn't born yet. XD Great video, thanks for sharing your memories with us! :)

It's amazing how much the BBC must have had in storage, even long after the specific episodes had aired! I'd be interested to know what happened to it all - mostly sold off, I would guess!
