I love the fact that he just sounds like a slightly watered down David. As soon as he spoke, I was thinking "hearing that voice, you couldn't NOT know they're related."
Sometimes appearances are hard to tell when it comes to relations. But here or dare I say hear, you don't need appearances, when they sound virtually alike.
I love how passionate and invested Russell gets in describing all of the side characters in this episode. Even if they’re one offs, you can tell he cares about them and helping bring them to life as best he can.
It's a particular genius of RTD, bringing entire new worlds to life week after week, populated with people you actually come to know and often care about.
i love the fact they got Christopher Benjamin to play Colnel Hugh for Whovians he's more well known as playing both Henry Gordon Jago (in " The Talons of Weng-Chiang" as well as the Jago and Lightfoot series from Big Finish) but more fondley remembered by myself from the 3rd Doctor Episode "INFERNO" as Sir Keith Gold.. However i never to today knew Sandy McDonald had a cameo.. i always loved it when he did the big reveal at the NTA's for David Tennent special recognition award in 2015, as and i quote "but you should already realise.. I'm his dad" .. a truely memorable moment with that whole montage x
Can't remember where I heard it but apparently in secondary (combo of middle & high school) school, David Tennant would theme his homework around Doctor Who (e.g English/Literacy- Doctor Who fanfiction, Science/chemistry- there was a story where gold is dominant feature, this how I know gold is a soft metal etc.) and his parents were often made aware of it by the teachers
I remember being delighted watching “The Unicorn and the Wasp,” even as someone unfamiliar with Agatha Christi and her works. To learn that David’s dad made a cameo appearance in said episode further cements it as a favorite of mine.
Just because of his politics or his opinion of transgender rights doesn’t mean people have to be taken out of things they love to do Should be separate to his work completely People have become George Orwell 1984 completely these days People have no free Thinking You have a group mind Of No original thought
Surely they'd need to do like costume fittings and sign a bunch of waivers and stuff, you don't just ask someone to be in a highly produced TV show the day of? XD
Well, you're in luck, because David and Catherine are returning for the 60th Anniversary and Russell T Davies is returning as head writer from the 60th Anniversary onwards, including writing for Ncuti Gatwa
@@SuperWolsey idk it’s fun to critique sometimes but the era is over now, I’d rather just move on and forget about it, tbf I watched resolution half drunk last night and loved it, but that’s one of about four Jodie eps I like

yes indeed, it's amazing how alike they sounded!

Hence why he's the King of Doctor Who writers.
That's a big part of the RTD magic, he knows what audiences want most out of what they're watching.
Doesn’t look much like him, but their voices are almost identical wow
After all this time, we never knew it was his dad
I did only cus is last is / was strongly MC'donalnd and it wasn't until behind Doctor who covendentall that we found but I have have fiction out😅😊😂.❤
I mean, the people who watched the Confidential episode this was ripped from probably did. 😂
Yes we did. It's on the credits and it was a well known casting
David's father is a delight! That was a great episode! Love their accents! Adorable.
Never knew that David Tennant’s dad made a cameo in the show
I'm so happy Russell T. Davies is back!

Crazy that this episode came out 15 years ago today!
imagine your son playing a character you probably watched as a kid - must be proud

@elliottnoad1270 it was at a comic con its on tumblr and it is on brand for him. But just seeing him that he has made it.
Sandy McDonald (David’s dad) was apparently the moderator for the Church of Scotland.
He was the reverend
Full name Alexander McDonald, he was indeed Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland from 1997-1998.
This was such a fabulous episode in a season of great episodes. David's dad looks like he was a real sweet man
I missed you guys so much 😭
Rest in peace Reverend McDonald ❤
I have missed watching these on BBC 3 after watching Doctor who.
Love that his dad is in an episode 😊
I remember being delighted watching “The Unicorn and the Wasp,” even as someone unfamiliar with Agatha Christi and her works. To learn that David’s dad made a cameo appearance in said episode further cements it as a favorite of mine.
This was a terrific episode.
David’s father sounds just like the David himself.
Rest in peace reverend McDonald.
I really love things like this
At the time, I think some people found this episode a bit dull-but I loved it. It was a cute and fun mishmash of tropes from 1920s British stories.

I never realised how awkward this shot was when the creepy zoom in music was cut out of it. 😂
Unicorn and the Wasp is an absolutely amazing episode, one of my all-time favourites. Such a shame about the writer.
Who cares these days He writes fiction don’t know why he was cut out of Doctor Who The closest after the nineties to Douglas Adams
Just because of his politics or his opinion of transgender rights

@@WertyQ543I mean, I personally not a big fan when writers I like don't think that people like me should exist.
Loving these confidential shorts!
Sadly, David Tennant's dad Sandy McDonald's dead now. Guess Tennant and I therefore have something in common😢
Wait, there's no Noddy?
_Grabs shoulders_
There’s no Noddy.
My mum knows him - General Assembly of the Scottish Church
He sounds JUST LIKE HIM!
One of the best light-hearted fun Who episodes.
Can’t wait for Doctor Who confidential to come back!
Why do they literally sound so similar
Father and son plus it’s a Scottish thing
very great series i would have loved to have met Mrs. Agatha Christy what a great honor that would have been
Why is there loads of David’s era behind the scenes I haven’t seen could of swore I watch all the confidential but obviously not 😂
I hate wasps at the dinner table.
I LOVE DR WHO SOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!
David Tennant dad is here
I never realised Felicity Jones was in this episode.
カメオ出演がマジの父親だとぉ!?
Awwww
What I didn't know that David Tennant had a dad
💀
Surely they'd need to do like costume fittings and sign a bunch of waivers and stuff, you don't just ask someone to be in a highly produced TV show the day of? XD
I imagine David asked in advance of his father's arrival and probably didn't tell his dad, so it would be a surprise..
❤❤❤
Can you hear me can you hear me
The great days of David Tennant….and Doctor Who too! 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏😊😄 What happened…to those days… after Matt Smith…it was all down hill 😔😓
With Capaldi being the last breath of greatness
Peter had some good episodes
Well, you're in luck, because David and Catherine are returning for the 60th Anniversary and Russell T Davies is returning as head writer from the 60th Anniversary onwards, including writing for Ncuti Gatwa
Wait
Ik slagging off chibnall era is overdone but god I can’t wait for doctor who to be this fun again
Not overdone enough.

So brittish and cute.
Fgs, Agatha Christie period drama/comedies weren't exactly what was in mind back in '63. What happened to authentic time travel & SciFi?
What?? hahaha
You realize that 60s Who had the pure historical right?
@@katherineperrin4817 You mean like the second story - The Daleks lol. Yes, there was actual history, too. Not period drama/whodunnits.
> authentic
> time travel
Pick one. 😂😂😂😂
@@Longshanks1690 I get it, but you must have heard of authentic fiction.
