- One of the 20th century's iconic artistic figures, Russian ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev's life reads like a Tolstoy novel - from escaping Soviet Russia to transforming ballet, Nureyev was widely regarded as the greatest the world had ever seen, the likes unlikely to be seen again. This rare interview from his New York years reveals Nureyev as an intelligent artist in tune with music and the times.

Great interview find! 🏆
Thank you for posting!👍
He looks very well for 46 years old.
Cute interview..... Rudi seemed rather relaxed.....and seemed to like the questions
So eloquent , beautiful . This interviewer was not worthy .
Interniewers are rarely smart, they often ask the same question, again and again.
I disagree. I liked this guy's questions ...he seemed to make Rudi feel relaxed .... He answered each question with thought and comfortable responses
He had a mischievous look about him ❤
He knows he has Aids for one year in this video. He came to Paris because of the discovery of this disease in Paris and the research in this country and the job at the Paris Opera (he was diagnosed in Paris). He was a very lonely man.
He went to Paris because he was invited to become Artistic Director of the Paris Opera Ballet.
@@katherinefarrell8068 Not artistic director but "directeur de la danse". And the aids problem played a key role to choose Paris.
@@normezmoi I’ll accept Directeur de la Danse but tell me how many offers of a similar position was he considering at the time? He had a particular connection with Paris that had nothing to do with AIDS.
Did you work for the hospital where he was treated. I did.
@@normezmoi So what?
❤
What's w this interviewer? Can he let Nureyev talk, please...
