I remember my big bro REALLY being into Final Fight. His enthusiasm got me into FF as well and later into Street Fighter. It's SO great that FF series shared the same world as SF and have basically created the crossover series! SUCH nostalgia!
Final Fight = Guy Beating Up Cody After They Save Jessica (Cody: My Sweetheart Since Childhood! Guy: Count Me In, She's My Friend Too, The Mad Gear Must Pay!) Guy Got Sick Of Fighting All Of The Mad Gear Gang And He Gets Nothing For It. So He Beats Up Cody. The End
Sam here. I’m a huge Final Fight fan and I use to love playing the arcade game. I was really surprised when Guy was introduced and made his debut on the alpha series.
I overplayed FF when I figured out the amazing gift of MAME years ago! 🤘 The quarters I put into that game in the early 90s, oof! On one credit, my best was just getting through halfway into the subway stage before Sodom. 😆
Ryu being buddies with Birdie was in the Street Fighter Alpha manga (same continuity where Karin made her first appearance). Nice to know that they referenced it here.
4:08 The image in which Cody appears with a towel and Guy with a ring behind him is actually from the introduction of the Final Fight game, but it was only in the Final Fight version of the Sega CD in which Cody punches and breaks the mirror in the scene .
here's a lesser known (to my knowledge) secret for you guys if you're having trouble unlocking the stories for yourselves. since arcade mode was added in celebration for the 30th anniversary, if you beat any game's arcade mode (SFI, SFII, etc.) 30 times, regardless of the character or difficulty, it'll unlock most of the endings for you based on the game you cleared it for. in some cases, you may still have to follow the requirements and unlock a few of them on your own. there's a tough one in SFII where you have to beat Shin Akuma as Sagat, for example, that will not be auto-unlocked for you.
No actually Sagat lost his eye prior to that to none other than Dan's Dad funnily enough, Go Hibiki. Also funny is that while Dan is pretty much a joke character his dad was actually a pretty powerful fighter lol
@@PrinceATEye If SF6 will have 2 parallel story lines - one in the past (Alpha days) and one in the future (post SF3S) probably we could see Go Hibiki during his prime.

Haggar's costume is also a reference to his days before he bacame mayor of Metro City and was a pro wrestler in the CWA where he trained his two apprentices Biff Slamkovich (Japanese Aleksey Zalazof) and Guile's cousin Gunloc (Japanese Lucky Colt). Those games were SICK and I remember playing the first one with my brother so much as a child. 5:54 I really like this depiction of Cody, he looks more accurate to the troublemaker/fight addict he was supposed to be in the lore prior to the events of SFV. Actually very close to his Final Fight: Streetwise version rather than his SF one that emphasize more on his bored side
I think the only thing I can note is that Andore Jr. is a relative to Hugo (who is just known as Andore in Final Fight), & appears in the background of the Ring of Justice stage. Surprisingly, Hugo doesn't have any palette referencing Andore Jr.
@@acorn2565 I think it's his placement on his test scores in high school. Some schools in Japan will post top test scores on a wall. I believe Guy is wearing a school uniform as well. Guy wasn't a very good student so he left Japan to live in the states. The number is likely a reference to Bushinryu succession though.
The last panels of Lucia's ending shows her getting her fire kicks which would first show up in Final Fight 3 in her super. Though, in that super, the fire effect is only on the final kick of the super combo and those panels represent that early stage of first tapping into her fire kicks.
i love this details/easter eggs, capcom as well as snk implemented them i many of their fighting game series. The details on this one are amazing, specially the final fight 1 references/artwork. Not so many people are familiar with most of this references, it's amazing you've done this compilation! A++++
There are so many easter eggs in SFV that you could make a series of videos about, from easter eggs codes for costumes and some characters, hidden cameos in stages or endings, also moves and special interactions characters have (Kage vs Ryu or Akuma trigger a different dialogue for example at the intro for Kage), so many little details, this video show some in endings (there are plenty more), hope you continue now that SFV is fading away would be a great time to someone make a video showing all this stuff, I think SFV have to be the SF game with more references to even other games than aren't from Capcom.
Well, concerning Mike and Balrog, it's common knowledge that the SFII boss' names were switched for the american and european versions. Balrog's name in the japanese version was Mike Bison, an obvious reference to Mike Tyson. It makes sense to assume Mike from SFII and Mike Bison are the same person. Coincidentally too, the Bushin ryu kanji is the same than for a real life modern ninjutsu school called Bujinkan.
It's not a matter of belief that Mike and Balrog are the same person. It's glaringly obvious that Mike is inspired by Mike Tyson and M. Bison is Mike Bison.
3:14 Hey man, in this image where Ryu's back is shown as if he was walking away, it reminds a lot of Ryu's ending in Street Fighter II, I think this should be mentioned in the video.
seeing that FF3 Haggar showcase and then seeing the UMVC3 combo, i realize that Haggar got the short end of the stick. he could have been the first Android 16 of fight games. but it wasnt until FightZ until i would see a grappler that was allowed to grab as part of the combo and combo into more grabs. Haggar should have had that. if he ever appears in a crossover fighter again...again then i hope he gets a nice moveset upgrade.
I noticed that Guy's name is written in katakana as Gai. Checking the wiki, that seems to be the case. So "Guy" is a translator's error, most likely. "Gai" means "victory".
Katakana is never used for native japanese words so it is likely meant to be a transliteration of the English word Guy Might be a pun as well, that sort of thing is not unheard of
With all the crossover that Final Fight and Street Fighter have had, it's surprising to me that we haven't seen Haggar playable in a Street Fighter game. Maybe they think he'd be too similar to Zangief?
@Its Z3LUS I love Shinkiro arts but i hope Akiman & Kinu Nishimura do some artworks too. I love their artworks for SF II, Alpha, III, and Darkstalkers.
These arcade endings are so cool. It’s a shame not many people get to see them, but that is mainly due to no reward outside of the ending. If Capcom gave you fight money, then people would be incentivized to play it and see all the endings because you get something from it.
2:29 Not a belief, they WERE one and the same, but later the SFV team decided to make them separate characters (hence those cards). At that time, they added a Mike costume to Mike Bison - a pun on Mike Tyson which the US didn't took well, so the bosses' names were shuffled. 3:44 This dojo at the ending is not the Fighting Stage, but the dojo they both trained were young, appearing first in Street Fighter II V Animated Series from the 90's and again in Street Fighter The Animated Movie. In the series, Ken rebuilt a exact replica of the dojo in his manor, which Ryu promptly notices. In the movie, its ruins is shown. SF Alpha series also make reference to that time.
@@dionysysentertainer3261 Like Ryu's age at SF2 being around 42 years or so. Truth is, Capcom made a lot of retcon over the years since SF2 and probably even since SF1. They won't adress to dold decisions of design/game design team, so guides will always tell what they want to, even if fans can clearly spot a lot of BS through history.
Capcom retconed the way Belger defeated as in the intro of Final Fight 2, Belger is shown being knocked through the window of the building by Cody using the upper cut at the end of his combo. This shows him jumpkicking Belger thru the window instead in the SF 5 ending.(Which River City girls subverts this by making the girls fly out the window with the last boss like fools.) Good video, but you missed on the fact that Ryu and Birdie's past is sbown as a flashback in the Street Fighter Alpha manga, it's actually a pretty good manga, I recommend it to every SF fan, the movie adaptation skips a lot of scenes including that Ryu's Shoryuken on Sagat is also shown
Street Fighter is full of plot holes. Remember my long-azz ponytail in SF Alpha? The game takes place several months after SF1, it doesn't take that short of time for hair to grow that long.
All this effort and I still couldn’t tell you what the “story” of Street Fighter was supposed to be. Capcom seems to pick and choose which character backgrounds get any progression. Ryu has overcome the Satsui no Hado, Ken got married and had a child, meanwhile Chun Li and Guile are still hunting Bison after 35yrs, no closer to putting him down in 2022 than they were in 1987.
TBH, Capcom doesn't know what to do with SF's plot, they only did it just to keep up with other fighting games with lores, particularly SNK. I personally hate how they did my cutscenes. Capcom keeps depicting me under Guile's shadow as "the guy who stayed home to be a family man" even though it has nothing to do with the overall plot, Eliza would also be more relevant if she weren't blandly written. I also have a dad, a sensei, a multi-billionaire entrepreneurship, co-starring film roles with Fei Long, beef with Bison and Akuma, etc, but they show none of that! The only relevance I have outside of that is my close relationships with Ryu and Sean!
