I definitely think speed is overlooked by a lot of people in any type of corner. I was teaching some tricks on dirt bikes and they were doing the super nervous 1st gear idle turn around. I told them to add a little throttle and speed and they were far more comfortable on the bike by the end of the day.
Holy long awaited! Extra Bonus: don't micro-manage the ruts. Just being sure the front wheel is lined up should be enough. You want to keep it moving in one fell swoop and if you are all tensed up, you'll make unnecessary adjustments and lose your balance.
Let me get this straight.. 1. sit in the center, stand up, and put my leg back with my elbow down. 2. hold my clutch in the middle of the rut. 3. Look down or close my eyes the entire time 4. Go super fast 5. Slam my front break at full speed. Bonus. Enter the rut as crooked (that’s what’s she said)...... got it! I’m going to smoke everyone next weekend. Thanks man! 🙌
Great video, but I have a question about step #1. Regarding the seating position, you tell us to NOT be neutral, but I don't think you tell us where we SHOULD be seated. I assume its far forward.
If your front wheel comes out of the Rut 9 times out of 10 you’re fucked and you have to stand the bike up or you’ll just crash and look silly, I’d recommend to try to keep the front wheel right at the bottom of the rut, think of it as if you don’t want the front wheel to touch the wall of the Rut, you want to keep it just before that, and if you’re going fast enough it’s gonna put your wheel right on the spot it needs to be and you’re gonna be on rails, like most things in motocross it’s gonna be scary but you gotta send it lol
@@RideWithTheWolf at that point try to get to them as straight as possible and don’t fight the bike, let it do it’s own thing and maintain your balance through it, I would lean a little bit further behind too
Motocross guys corner so much better then woods guys.. we have different techniques for weaving in and out of trees, rarely do you get a good motocross style corner in the woods. We do a lot of rear break tapping to move the rear side to side to cut around trees etc.
that's exactly right...I'm so used to threading the needle between super tight trees, that when I get to a wide open sand track with big berms I'm just all over the place, over braking, front end diving, oh man it's a hot mess. It's like I have to totally relearn how to ride the bike.
Do you have any sand riding tips? For deep rollers and soft berms etc Also what bike would be the easiest bike to hold on to for a 30 min moto in sand a 450 or 250?
Then there’s reality. Me squiding into the rut and completely f’ing it up
Relatable
Same
U and Me both

The music made me like, the technique teaching was solid.

Shame I’ve only just seen this, it’s golden 😂
Ahhh....nothing like a cold beer & a good Johnny Hopper night cap tutorial before bed....the day was complete.
😥
Is that imi? I love that track.
The front brake thing is incredibly helpful
Great tips brother!!!🤘🤘🤘 Braaaaaap!!!!
But, if it is deep sand or mud you want to sit more in the middle or back rather than towards the front right ?
Great tips Johnny... Thanks a lot.U r the best.

Another thing is seat position to flat on the seat not on the edge like you do when there is flat corners and inline with pegs
I’ll try this when I’m at the track next time, I was doing everything wrong 😂
IMI motorsports complex in Colorado ?
Why coming out of the rut you tap the clutch ? Never thought of that ! 👍🏻
me neither i always do it in dirt bike video games lol, if you were asking why he was either shifting fast or he was getting a boost from the clutch
Awesome tips! What is the name of the song. Reee-reee I want to be a. Dirt rider
Don't go too slow or it'll try to pop out. Go ahead and give er' a little more and dig right in 👍 got it! 😁
IMI? I love that track!!
Just fucked my MCL up in a rut this video seems appropriate
Btw what’s your opinion on foot dabbing? Some people say never, others say it’s fine?🤷♂️
My question is how do you handle falling out of the ruts? What if for whatever reason you miss the rut or come out of the rut?

Good stuff Johnny, just saying motor on.

Ira Sittner yes
How Can I Do This When They Dont Even Have Ruts In MESX 3
Axiis ZA uhhh 🤔 ummm 🧐
If youre on a 2 stroke you arent gonna wanna be engine braking 😬
It honestly doesn't make a difference for the engine for the split second you're doing it when riding
I am pretty darn sure I engine break my little 1994 Honda CR80. You know, 2 stroke.
breakdown into steps should be easier to remember
👍
TRUMP 2020.. 4 MORE YEARS
Why not?? Any one else that's gets in ppl will just bitch n complain any damn way!!
Irrelevant. Waste.

You have bad technique. The bike is pulling you along instead of your leading the bike. And why are you tucking your hips?!
