Hey, I heard that the space station notified NASA that a brilliant light was blinding them while they were trying to sleep. Heh, heh..😂. Awesome lights my friend. The custom made bumper light bar is NICE too!! You got the best looking and functional Subaru I ever seen. I’m raising a fork of Kim Chi in your honor. Safe travels.
Honestly it feels like you could drop both the lightbar and the spots and not notice much of a difference… kind of makes me rethink my future lighting plans.
Yup, these are bright enough, I can do that, but more the merrier, right? LoL. I am planning to angle the 2 inch spots little off to the side to give me more side coverage.
Wow! Those are some amazing lights! I like your homemade bumper bar too! I have the Anderson Design one. I like it, but I like your solution a little better b/c you kept your D-Rings in the “stock” location rather than being offset and changing the vehicle’s original towing/recovery point angle. I hope you’ll make a video on how you made your bumper bar!
I have the ADF bumper bar - it's actually not deep enough to fully support the Auxbeam 7" lights. I'm having mine modified to have a nice solid deeper platform for my own 7" lights which are a different brand (stay tuned!). I did write to Patrick to see if he'd want to do the modification, but politely declined. Love the bar though.
I also have a 2024 Subaru Forester wilderness package and would luv for u to hook it up just like yours with lots of your links for products to buy and I will send pics every time so people can see
When I had my lights installed, I wanted to use the Auxbeam 6 Gang unit, but there wasn't enough room for it. The insulation/ liner under the hood of the Onyx wouldn't allow for it.🙁
@@wendellfinney2848 same here so I had to cut open a small hole and feed it through where the factory wires go through the firewall. it was a pain in the butt.
Awesome install and video! Is it legal to have amber cover on your light pods in Washington state or does it have to be covered in black? I have 4 light pods on my rally innovation bumper light guard, 2 on the hood by the windows wipers, and 2 on the side mirrors for a Subaru outback wilderness.
I believe any lights that are not DOT approved and is for offroad use only needs a cover. I think amber covers are OK too as I have not yet got hassle by the police here in WA.
In the owners manual it says leaving anything mounted in the tow hook slot can ruin the ability of the airbags to deploy. I understand the why and the how, but curious on others thoughts.
This is what I was told by a Subaru Engineer. If there is a crash with anything left mounted in the tow hook slot (especially a non-compressible solid), it can cause all the force to be directed to a singular point, vs a distributed load across the entire front crash bar. That will prevent the airbag sensor from reading correctly, and deploying as necessary. There is no way to test it unfortunately, except just doing it and hoping for the best outcome. Not all frontal collisions are the same, and where it may not deploy in one case, it may deploy fine in another. @@ChasingAdventuresCO
I've been following your journey for awhile and now I got myself a 2024 Crosstrek wilderness. I want to add lights to it too. With all those lights on your vehicle, would you need a better battery? When all lights are running do you notice them running on full power or do they dim?
Do you have any concerns about cooling / airflow with the lights up front? Today's vehicles, most of them anyway, are so optimized for airflow with regard to cooling, I just wonder about that before I put rally lights up front.
Thanks and I'm still using a factory battery. The LEDs draw little power, I haven't noticed a need to upgrade the battery. And once it's finished, I am planning to paint it black~
I have to ask. I have an 2024 Outback Premuim version, but I noticed that I do not have the cover plates to utilze where you can connect to tow area. Do I need to get another bumper like the Wilderness?
@bernardlock2728 I haven't tried but I am sure it's a same fitment as the non Wilderness model. You would still need to cut the bumper to have the hitch
Yo. Another informative video 👍 Couple questions. On the front bumper DIY mounting bracket, super cool btw, would it be possible to have the lights mounted on the front side at 90° instead of the top side? Wouldn’t that eliminate the issue with the ability to take the covers on and off without having to adjust the lights again every single time? Second question… what is that on the roof and where’s the Yakima?? 🤔
Hi Joe. Thanks!! And it's a good idea, but unfortunately, I can't mount it 90° but I just shaved down the covers edge a little bit, and it works without having to lift up the lights. And I still have the Yakima, but that box is Thule Foothill Roof Top Tent ⛺️ 😀 !! I just used it on my last camping trip at an epic location, so that video will be up soon!
@@ChasingAdventuresCO Is that the Thule RTT that’s like folded in half? It’s cool coz the footprint when packed up is quite small. Can’t wait to see the review video on that!!
@joeszeto8859 yup! That's the one!! It's a pretty cool idea, and the tent itself is awesome, but I have to say, it is a bit of pain in the butt to set up and take down. 😀
Total electronics noob. What exactly is at risk of burning out from being over taxed? I'm thinking of putting some aux lights, either pods or roof beam. Would likely have a garage install them but unless you specify what you want, they'll just do what you ask them to do. Alternatively, they could offer advice and guidance and then charge you an arm and leg for it. The output from the demo in this video is exactly what I'm trying to achieve. Could you link some products that would take the extra load off for long operational life of the stock relays or whatever is being burden?
From one growing channel to another, let me know how these have held up? I'm getting 4 soon for my ram Only difference is I'm gonna tac weld them 😅 city living at its finest
Them lights are bright. But will your alternator handle the power of all them lights being on? You may want to go with a bigger alternator with the power draw, maybe run a voltmeter to check power output, and supply to the battery.
YES it is!! Not only on a gravel road but everywhere! LoL. That's is why it is still work in progress! But one thing is it's held up traveling into the deep woods and over 300+ miles road trip. Just need to figure a way out to make it stable
jeezus those auxbeam lights are bright and have great coverage
I was really surprised 😮

No I don't. It's connected to a separate switch.

Thanks and I haven't had any issues with it yet. And I do turn all the lights on when trailing in the forest road.
I would be concerned about that too. Keep an eye in your voltage over time. Maybe a second aux battery for those extended runtimes.
