Congrats on the baby. I can totally relate to the fog of having a newborn and lack of sleep, no time to do anything else. Welcome back. Missed your witty commentary. It looks like you either had a games update or map update available as well? Looks like FSD 10.11 is improving but still too cautious in some areas. I do worry about it not picking up that speed hump too.
Great camera and screen setup. Congratulations on new baby. Great to see FSD finally handle that initial right turn with the road closed sign and pull into the through-lane. It will be interesting to see how it handles itself in the rain. My test with 10.11 showed a good improvement with a medium level of rain v.s. not engaging at all in older versions. I also saw a marked reduction in phantom breaking.
I like frenchie's style because it gives you a very good indication of car behaviour and visualisation..other people's set up from inside the car and footage just get distorted or it's not a good vantage point behind the windshield. Good job my guy.
it would be interesting to see a controlled test like you had with the parked truck and oncoming cars to see if FSD would have reversed or how it would have managed it.. i know you had to act right away but sorta curious to know how that would have gone..
Glad to see you back...very few FSD videos in the Big City, be it Chicago or NYC. Looks like this version handling the "Road Closed" and service lane decidedly better than earlier versions.
Soooo smooth and so good, look natural drives like a human. Also noticing that there is the download icon on your screen, is that the minor fix version?
Congratulations on the baby! You must have missed it, the car will no longer roll any stops at all as of v10.10. NHTSA made them remove that ability. From 10.10 release notes, "Disabled rolling-stop functionality in all FSD Profiles. This behavior used to allow the vehicle to roll through all-way-stop intersections, but only when several conditions were met, including: vehicle speed less than 5.6 mph, no relevant objects/pedestrians/bicyclists detected, sufficient visibility and all entering roads at the intersection have speed limits below 30 mph."
It looks that way! I have seen similar behaviour (only going back slightly, never very far) in videos of the previous release. Hopefully they'll gradually 'expand' this until it can properly reverse, like it needed to do after peeking around the parked truck.
Thanks for the feedback. I always struggled with audio. I have a cavalier mic but for some reason it's always so loud. When I come to edit the video, I had to reduce the volume a little but that results in a muffled sound. I'll play with the audio a bit. Maybe I should place the mic further from me. Right now, it's clipped to my seat belt (at the belt level).
Turn signal are used to indicate intent. So it's not misleading if you turn it on even before few available turns specially if there are multiple in quick succession. The argument doesn't stand any legal ground.
As I have a Uk version of the same car with FSD your video was very interesting. Hopefully we will get that option over here eventually. Our streets are rather like yours! I guess that full screen display comes with FSD Beta S/w? I can't find any way of setting it up on mine v11.0 (2022.0 4.5.11 7403f378f924)
Congrats. You did have to intervene when blocked from passing that truck. I assume the beta can’t/won’t “do” reverse as you had to and of course viable FSD will have to be able to extricate itself from this sort of situation. Otherwise, good drive.
looks like it should have started braking at 6:04:0000. Hopefully they can get better at situations like that where it is visually subtle (especially given no lane lines).
at 3:20 with the truck you would have skirted the edge to maintain visibility. and at 6:05 you would have slowed down to fit rather than hard brake up close to the car. but it has lost all the frequent pronounced failures.
@@FrenchieFSD I, for one, miss the rolling stops. I also miss not creeping through every intersection. 10.11 didn't seem to fix this based on your video. 😞
@@FrenchieFSD If it can’t self-deliver itself by now after all these years of incubation by supercomputer it will not. Who cares about tactics of piece manipulation? Price increase doesn’t make an inferior merchandise suddenly become a level-5 product.
I hope you know we can tell when you hit the accelerator, like that first right turn. The line was not solid blue. Also at the stop sign, that was you making it move over the stop line while the pedestrian was crossing. Just in general, it seems you are always tapping that accelerator putting the car in odd situations...... Please be more honest and - Congrats on your baby!
Thanks Adam. I honestly don't remember when in that drive I pushed the accelerator or not and wether I said I did. I do know that when I use FSD, the blue "predictive path" can be very shortsighted. Sometimes it would just move a few inches and stop, then start again. Again not saying you are wrong as I honestly don't recall exactly each turn but I know FSD is very jerky and could lead to some of that behavior. I'll certainly keep that in mind though. I'm really not concerned about "interventions" at this stage but more "disengagements". Chicago is so challenging that, right now, as long as I don't have to fully disengage FSD, I'm happy. We can focus on "no intervention" when we see the software being able to handle any situation without mistakes/wrong turns etc... I appreciate the feedback though. I'll take that into account for the future.
@@FrenchieFSD I don’t think they stopped in most cases. You can see that from the video footage by looking at the road moving relative to the edge of the screen. Probably not enough to be detected by the cops but I thought NHTSA required true full stops if only for a moment?
Love how Elon tweets we are getting 10.12 but then 10.11 comes. Honestly I've lost all excitement about any of this though with the insane phantom braking
Congrats, Frenchie! Welcome back!
Impressive progress on FSD. Congrats on the baby!
Yeah your back !!!

Welcome back, dude! :D Wow, this ride was so silky smooth! Congrats~.

It would just have stayed there until "the road cleared", for sure. :)
FSD doesn't reverse right now. It would most likely have stalled out and demanded human take control. 🙆🏼♂️
@@notacapulet it will need to learn to reverse soon, that is a very important skill in city driving.

great ride. other than missing the speed bump this seemed quite perfect.

Wow, you caught some fairly challenging situations there, that's why I love these videos. And impressive to see that FSD handled them reasonably well.

6:07 is it just me or did it go into reverse for a quick second?!

I think the reason self driving technology is important is at 6:10. The car does not get angry.

very nice..... does the name of the channel mean you have frenchie bulldogs?
It's just because I'm French originally :)
Thank you I like your videos! How come this road closure is still there? 🤔😅
Would love to have seen how fsd backed up at 3:24. Shouldn't have intervened, I guess
Impressive. Tesla is probably preparing a first pilot for a robotaxi fleet.
Tesla has completely removed rolling stops following a discussion with the NHTSA.
Congrats.

I think the 3:20 error was a result of the car position from being in between routes.
🙏🌱
Hmmm, top right corner of the screen implies there is a download waiting ... maps? Game updates?
Game Update but I'm on hotspot (no wifi) so it takes forever...
Here's hoping for better handling on unexpected situations and pedestrians...
I'd love to see you criss-cross Chicago with more traffic and activity. That's a pretty empty city with just a few rather easy intersections.
What does the light blue areas appearing in the road at 6:23 mean?
it's showing which lane the car is going to. Doesn't work super well right now :)
A great thing would be if the Tesla asked why you intervened at that speed bump or bad pothole, so it knows to slow down next time.
The engineering team at Tesla will review the footage and see why. The car's autopilot video will be sent to them.
@@nonconsensualopinion but unless they have the driver cam footage and can read lips, they won’t have a clue…

I'm thinking Elon may actually be right this year when he says FSD should be at human level by years end. Great video.
What is the right time to buy for SFD?
Is when SFD can drive a vehicle from the factory to a new owner without a human driver in it.
Yes but by that time, the cost of FSD will be very high. It depends if you want to wait and pay more or pay less now but it's not perfect.
