I generally never watch 30 min videos but ur natural husband wife arguments just keep me going. I was thinking of me and my wife when we drive..same lol
I bought FSD because I'm 73 and don't like the stress of long drives. Between the comfort of my Tesla and the smooth ride my full-time chauffeur provides, I always arrive feeling relaxed. Bonus, now that I can look around a little more while supervising, I'm seeing more of what's going on along my usual routes and get to sight-see a little on the open road.
@@jerrymolnar8010Yeah I agree! FSD should be more implemented in every Tesla models if they wanna pay per month. I really love FSD and I’m someone who would love to do more FSD for long term
I'm impressed that your wife knows a lot about your Tesla! I read that a man in Virginia experienced a mild heart attack, and FSD drove him to the nearest hospital 22 miles away. Go FSD!
I just drove across the USA's West Coast to the East Coast and back to the West Coast, and 95% of the trip was in FSD. The only issues were construction zones and unmarked lanes, but it was great the rest of the time. Just ensure you check avoid tolls so it doesn't go on toll roads by accident. 2021 Model Y
Deciding whether to buy a Tesla only cause of FSD so this is just what i needed a first hand perspective of a first time user with mo expectations... subbed!
Really enjoy the video’s that include your wife. Part of why I enjoy your videos is you entertain me with your humor and she seems to have that same personality. My vote is more videos with wifey in them.
Hahahaha my god this is me and my wife with FSD. Same vibe where she’s basically hating it and I’m making excuses for it. Hahahahaa. Love this video. Real life.
As an older (65) driver, I would second that thought. For us older folks who realize we don't react or see things as well as we once did, it's great to have. Just bought a used Tesla S with FSD last month. And I'm now using it FSD (12.5.4) 90% of the time and always on the highway. It makes driving much more pleasant and I believe I'm a safer driver as a result. And that's coming from someone who's never had an accident in my 40 years of driving. It still has lots of quirks, but after a month one learns to identify these in advance.
I use FSD 95% on my MX. yup- definitely a learning curve- fun to see someone trying it out for the first time. My wife will never try it, but she gets mad when I don’t use it;😂😂
I have FSD on my 2022 MYP for a while now, and it does a LOT correctly, but it DOES phantom brake almost always near orange traffic cones even when they are not really in your path. Enough times that I know to disable FSD when I see the cones coming. You can also just press the throttle during phantom brake without disconnecting FSD and it gets thru just fine.
I agree with her about the stopping far from the stop sign. It annoys me too as if it is making two stops. I’ve gotten honked at for taking too long. So I end up stepping on the accelerator pedal most of the time. There are a few others that I wish it could do better. But it is definitely way better than it was 1.5 years ago. I’m hopefully it will improve more. Another thing is that I can’t even mess with looking for charge without it telling me to pay attention and then cancelling the FSD until next drive. It’s too sensitive.
When disengaging from FSD, you need to go back to the Autopilot menu to re-select limit lane changes or use the right button on the steering wheel to bring up the menu to change it, as it resets each time you disengage. I wish it was kept on permanently but with each drive it resets.
FSD is a whole mood. Hubby and I go back and forth to see what it’s going to do in our MYP. It’s almost like it’s “learning” the road? Is that a thing? I tried FSD by my inlaws neighborhood the first time and it refused to take me to their house. 🤣 still a nice feature, still freaks me out every time when using. My trial just ended now to decide if it’s worth purchasing fully or on a month to month basis as needed for fun or long drives. Thanks for sharing this vid guys! Always fun to watch and great info. 😎
The experience you show is very similar to my experience with self driving that I had this last July. My path did not have the level of difficulty with the ride you just demonstrated. FSD is not quite ready yet....but I hope it will get there. The cruise control while not using self driving is worse because it turns off every time you change lanes.
Regrading other driver's getting mad at the car during FSD, I have found for myself that FSD is better or worse than half of all other drivers. I like to remind myself when it does something silly, that it could always be worse. And more often than not often, it is better than most other cars on the road. It always paying attention to everything all at once, all the time and is incapable of being distracted. I would trust FSD over 93% of other drivers on the main roads. Parking lots are a different story,... for now...
Your wife acts just like mine when she is using standard Autopilot, always intervening. Ha-ha! Moral of the story, pay an extra $8,000 and your wife will still never let the car drive itself. 😄 On a serious note though, You two are fun to watch together and it's awesome that doing this kind of stuff is getting your wife out of the cubicle away from that creepy gamma boss and closer to home so she can be the mother she wants to be. Good for you two beautiful people (no sarcasm, mean it) and looking forward to more videos like this. 👍
Bro love your channel. Good content informative info and a dash of humor. Couple that with some Yinzer gems and it’s like bonus content on your DVDs. I like watchin n’ at
You made a comment about older drivers taking advantage of the self driving. I am older and used the self driving for the free month on a Model 3 performance and did not feel comfortable with the self driving. The main issue is not braking until the last few feet when initially going about 35 mph on a city street (El Camino Blvd in Palo Alto Ca.) Very uncomfortable. I actually have to pay more attention in FSD than I would driving myself. This was on 14.3.5 (I think-back in August 2024). It also could not find the correct lane when exiting a freeway when FSD was in control. There were several arrows pointing different directions while additional lanes were presented when exiting the freeway. It could not find the correct lane to use for the left turn. FSD is just not ready yet.
My wife was frightened initially with FSD but now gets more nervous when I'm driving than when I'm using FSD. It's just funny how blase the experience has become.
My car did a phantom brake yesterday on the highway too because there was a car parked on the shoulder. Scared the $hit out of me. Good thing the car behind me was pretty far away.
Don't worry you'll get used to pre-empting it, with your foot permanently hovering over the accelerator. My car thinks there is a junction on a curved stretch of road near where I live and guaranteed it'll brake every time it sees it.
I had FSD on the other day on the freeway and when the motorcycles passes me the car freaked out occasionally. I tried self parking 3 times and 2/3 times the car didn’t stop for people and other cars passing by, it just kept going and I had to take over. 🤦♂️
When I tried FSD it would try to do U-turns at controlled intersections (which is highly illegal where I live) It would also just drive me to an entrance of a store or mall etc. I found overall that it just wasn't good enough yet as I had to babysit it all the time so I might as well just do the driving myself.
I've been loving FSD 12.5.x. Personally I've used it so much that from time to time I need to go back to manually driving... and gosh the "stress difference" is very noticeable. With FSD, all you have to worry about is when the car does something unexpected. You can expect all maneuvers to be done safely. Without FSD, all maneuvers you yourself have to make sure is done safely. Lane changes? Checking rear view mirror, checking side mirrors, checking blind spot etc. You should really detail which FSD version you're running. 12.5.x is WAY better than 12.3.x. Also... highway is still on FSD 11. For autopark, while it keeps you centered in your spot, it seems to ignore any curbs, post, or anything that might be in parts of your spot... so I've never trusted it. It came way too close to a pillar for me once.
Unprotected lefts are a no go. I had self driving on my 2023 rwd model 3 back in January and from what you are showing it still hasn't improved or been fixed. It's the main challenge that I see with this vision based system...
We tried FSD on a trip and it couldn't figure out what lane to be in when one of the lanes was turn only. It would get in worst possible lane every single time and then panic when it came to an end. Phantom braking is still a thing and that is what scares me the most... oh, and other drivers getting road rage cause they think it's me driving the car like that. On a long trip you can meet up with road rage people again 200 miles down the road and they are still mad at you.
Hi misses Gjeebs, you need to trust FSD more! You doubt it too much and you should learn to use it better. Not attacking you guys at all, but the speed limit accede margine can be set with the thumb-wheel on the steering, for instance...
Just upgraded my y to a 3 refresh and with the 0 pct on the FSD only paying about 3200 for the FSD but new car! My trade had 12k and 13 k miles and I was 5 pmts in. This was possible due to the 0 pct financing when you buy with FSD.
For Model X, it comes with one free paid option if choosing the 6-seater option that costs $6500, adding the FSD at $8000 would costs $1500 instead. That’s sometimes can be cheaper than buying a used Model X and add $8000 FSD.
I recently had a nav error when trying to go to a ups store. My M3 took me to an advanced auto parts. Google has many issues that affect the fsd experience including speed limits. Hope one day we will get a Tesla maps.
I rented it for a trial (one month) and I still have it (renting) five months later. I wouldn't recommend buying it unless you plan on keeping your car for around six years at the present cost.
We had it free for a month. It could never do the roundabouts in our neighborhood well. And it always missed the turn to our house, stopped in the road behind it then turned around at next roundabout and missed it again.
After having v12.3.6 by subscription for three months, I found that having to intervene so frequently for "sagging" speed and it not using turn signals that I find it ultimately easier to drive myself. It's certainly amazing that it can even do what it does, but for me the value just isn't there. The highway part (still v11) works well, though.
I agree. FYI, a while back Gjeebs reviewed "S3XY buttons" and it has a feature called "continuous autopilot" that automatically re-engages autopilot when you change lanes. It is handy on road trips if you don't have FSD.
22:45 "Why it taking out into the passing lane?" My experience with FSD is when there are 3 or more lanes, it always tries to move you out of the right lane. I've had where my lane was empty and there was a car coming up in the center lane. FSD would try to move over cutting off the only other car on the road. No reason for that. Moving out of that lane except to pass is illegal in many states.
I bought premium connectivity on model 3 for the freaking traffic and ever since then the full self driving is screwed up one time instead of getting onto the highway the car just suddenly lurched and braked so be ware of these things. I also have a model X and CT those are a bit different and bigger and scarier to even put on FSD it could become involuntary manslaughter very easily
OK, this writer enjoyed this real world experiment in FSD/S. Note 'Gjeebs ' is correct, any driver assist is very useful for we Senior drivers. The very basic on in this writers 2019 Kia Niro BEV HAS prevented several accidents. AI can think and act far faster than any human can.
Please test center turn (suicide) lanes if you have them. We have a lot of center turn lanes here in rural New Mexico. Version 12.3.6 was terrible with them and I would frequently have to disengage. We probably need a Chuck Cook for center turn lanes.
Loved the video. My Tesla is brand new so still have my 1 mo. trial. Only clench moment for me, FSD decided to believe an approaching car with a turn signal on approaching the intersection I was making a right at and turned in front of it. Living in PHX area like you - we both know the veracity of a turn signal. 😱 BTW, what was the drink worth the hype?
I still don’t think i can deal with the stalk deletes. Makes sense if your using FSD most of the time though if its much improved from how it is right now
what about Cyber cab which is what FSD is working towards? You'll be able to have one deliver your food too your parking lot or drop your kids off to school etc.
You need to be in aggressive mode. Move the screen to the passenger view only and let driver prevent crashes only. Let it navigate how it wants to get you there.
Love seeing your wife on the video, but where's some pix of the kids? There are two now, right? --a gramma who loves driving her Tesla and agrees auto pilot is good enough
Jamie is MORE than exec assistant! lol truth! and um...yes you cut her off multiple x while she was making good points!! But DO love you both commenting. She makes the channel better no doubt, Gjeebs jab intended :P) Congrats :)
When I had the 2 week free trial of self driving; I had to have my hands on the wheel (every 30 or 40 seconds). This isn’t the first video I’ve seen where the car doesn’t tell you to put your hands in the wheel at all. I don’t get it. How come yours is totally hands free? Thanks.
When I first got my M3P it had v12.4.x of FSD and it required a hands on tug every so often like you said. But subsequent v12.5.x became hands free unless you are wearing sunglasses. It's a much better experience though you could probably get away with looking off to the side more with the hands on monitoring.
@@Lost_In_LA Thanks for the explanation. Since my trial period was about five months ago; it obviously had an earlier version. Either way, for that kind of money; I pass. Thanks.
I would not need any parking features for as far away as I park from other vehicles at shopping malls. I can't believe you parked your brand new Tesla between two vehicles.

I first saw Jamie with blonde hair. The dark hair is such a difference.
Have you ever checked the EMF's in a Tesla?
Love seeing your wife on the video, but where's some pix of the kids? There are two now, right? --a gramma who loves driving her Tesla and agrees auto pilot is good enough
I need to show this to my wife
Jamie is MORE than exec assistant! lol truth! and um...yes you cut her off multiple x while she was making good points!! But DO love you both commenting. She makes the channel better no doubt, Gjeebs jab intended :P) Congrats :)
damn that's a LOT of credit!!
My Anxiety level was an 11 for the entry video, I hope FSD works out someday but right now no way would I go with FSD.
She isn't fat. Don't worry. You are young and have life journey ahead of you.
you're lucky, you'll experience revers and automatic parking too in the next few weeks, Tesla said. Exciting times ahead
What version were you testing on? Would be good to specify that?
It would have been better to do the redeeming of credits at home and updated to the latest FSD version via WiFi.
Thanks.
Maybe my search skills suck, but what’s the word on the Summon/Smart Summon option? I have a ‘24 MYLR, wife has a 23’ M3LR
I would not need any parking features for as far away as I park from other vehicles at shopping malls. I can't believe you parked your brand new Tesla between two vehicles.
