    I'm new to pipe smoking and am so thankful to have found your videos!! The breathe method is probably the only reason why I stuck with it and got past the initial learning curve and can now enjoy cooler, less ashey tobacco. I was just looking into the Nording keystones to help with excessive humidity while smoking. When I saw you did a review on this, I was more excited than a grown man should be. Definitely pulling the trigger and getting these since it sounds like you've already found them as a great solution. I think it's also time for me to join your membership club! Thanks so much for all your contributions to the piping community!!!

    Thanks artsandclouds, you won't believe this but I was looking at the exact list you suggested, I am especially interested in the "Old Dark Fired" and the "Three Nuns"

    Initially, I smoked only W.O. Larsen tobacco, Old Belt. It’s a 100g tin, so it lasted quite long. Than, recently, as I got more into pipe smoking, I started trying out different blends and they were all aromatics. So, I figured Larsen was an aromatic too, due to its taste and sweetness. Funny enough, it turned out to be a full Virginia blend.
    I wish I could try this Fire Storm. If I come across a tin, I will sure try it.

    If you like Fire Storm , try some Russ Ouellette Perique Blend B41. It will knock your socks off!

    I usually use either denicool filter crystals or white elephant meerschaum granulate…
    I’ll give the nording keystones a try once my supplies run low!

    My transition tobacco is Commonwealth. A 50/50 Virginia Latakia blend that smokes incredibly sweet and dry. The room note might be pungent for bypassers but the smoke translates to the palate like any other for me.

      Eduardo Nogueira - Cool, I’ll keep that blend in mind. 👍👍👍

    After watching your video, I bought the Eric Nording keystone pipe and have used some of the clay pellets to break in a hardwood cob. Both pipes are a great smoking experience for me.
    As a new pipe smoker, I would be really interested in your views on the Nording pipe and perhaps which other types of pipes are suitable for the clay pellets.
    By the way, both pipes only needed one pipe cleaner each, to clean the stems and shanks. Those keystones are incredible.
    Thanks again for your informative videos, Paul

      paul west - Nording pipes are great pipes, the company has been around for a long time, and the pipes they make are first rate. The beauty of the keystones is you can use them in any pipe as far as I know. 👍👍👍

      I've been smoking for 30 years and I come come across the Erikson pipe and keystones. I absolutely love the pipes. I use them for blends new to me. I reach for them more often than not. Just a cool pipe

      Thanks, if you can push through the initial tongue bite, and frustrations that sometimes go along with learning to smoke a pipe, there is a lifetime of enjoyment on the other side.

      +Muttnchop Piper thanks I am struggling with that but I'm just using a corncob, I have house blend tobacco and have had some orlik golden Virginia but still getting used to the taste when first lighting the pipe maybe it's just me

      Here is something that might help you out, have a beverage with you when you smoke, a soda, or coffee, or tea, once you have completed your char light and you have an ember going, clean your pallet, then smoke normally, I'll even take a drink if I feel tongue bite coming on. Enjoy!!

    Do these Keystone pellets prevent cake from building up in the heel of the pipe? Also, can they be re-used?

    Firestorm is what Aromatics SHOULD smoke like, nice and flavorful with no bite. I wouldn't call it English though, it has no Latakia, and Latakia is what drives most folks away from English blends, it would be a wonderful transition from Aro's into VaPer blends though, because the Perique is more mild rather than hotsauce level hot like some blends. Firestorm is my #1 tobacco atm, it beat out PS Lux BE Flake which has been tops for me for at least a year and a half since I moved away from Aromatics.

      Your right I miss spoke in the video, I would classify Fire Storm as a non aromatic. It's not my favorite but it's up there thanks for viewing my video.

    i tried those keystones a while back, and they didn't seam to do anything for me. Fire Storm is my #2 blend. just fantastic! smooth sweet high smoke volume, very nice perique. so good. Have you tried Cornell and Deihls Kajun Kake? its a little different from Frie Storm but has that very sweet VA with a nice perique touch.

  • @ajohnson153
    @ajohnson153 5 лет назад

    Those keystones look great. I find that I can never smoke a bowl all the way down because the tobacco at the bottom gets too wet. The space in my bowl taken up by the stones wouldn't be smokeable anyway.

      Aaron Johnson - Exactly, the keystone definitely help me. 👍👍👍

    Hello my friend! If you allow me a suggestion of blends you might like, of course, based on this favorable experience you had with Fire Storm. Here you go (none of these contain latakia): Robert McConnell - Scottish Cake, Three Nuns, Mac Baren - Dark Twist and for something less sweet but with a great burley (Kentucky) taste Mac Baren - Old Dark Fired

    Tried your Keystone technique in a corncob. But I placed them in the shank! Man the smoke was fantastic! You're a genius!
    Did you notice the level of nicotine in the Fire Stone?

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  8 лет назад

      Glad the keystones worked out for you, and no, I don't get much of a nicotine kick from fire storm, I do from most G.L. Pease blends but not from fire storm, at least not yet

    I have the pipe that goes with those keystones and it's pretty good for a fairly inexpensive pipe. Have you tried the stones in your radiator pipe.

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  8 лет назад +1

      No, the thing about the radiator pipe is the draft hole is in the center, and I was afraid I would put the keystones in and they would plug up the hole. Plus the radiator smokes so cool, and dry, I don't think it would improve the quality of smoke.

    Good Brother,
    Planing on another purchase from 'Pipes and Cigars' so that I might upgrade my pipe rotation (Kensingtiom and a Baraccini). I will for sure pick up a tin of R.O. "Fire Storm". Thank you for your incite.
    Just curious, any thoughts on the "Samuel Gawith: Squadron Leader"? I would like to know what your thoughts are in this blend.
    Semper Fidelis,
    SargeTube57

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  7 лет назад +1

      SargeTube57 - I haven't had it yet, but I am not a big fan of Sam Gawith, it's a little to wet for my taste, I do like Cabbie Mixture, and that's about the only one I regularly smoke. 😃😃😃

    • @SargeTube57
      @SargeTube57 7 лет назад

      Muttnchop,
      I haven't yet discovered that name. I will research it and consider some in my next order. For the sake of experience and fun, I will order the Squadron Leader and let you know how it burns/tastes.
      Thank you kind Sir,
      SargeTube57

      FYI,
      I've noticed that you have mentioned 'CAO: Elieen's Dream' a few times so far within your videos (I too, enjoy this blend). If you haven't tried 'Casey Jones: Hero's Blend', I strongly, STRONGLY recommend it.
      Happy Pipping Good Sir,

    Muttnchop..... I've got a question I've held off asking up until now. I held off just to make sure I wasn't hearing things, but in SEVERAL several videos you state that you are a "Aromatic" smoker....... then, at the same time, in SEVERAL several of your videos you state how you are an "English" smoker..... Oriental forward I believe is your favorite. So, naturally my question is, Man what's your preference? Ha ha.

    • @MuttnchopPiper
      @MuttnchopPiper  6 лет назад

      Fly Tying with Justin Aldrich. - Confusing, I know, sorry about that. When I first started this channel I was strictly an Aromatic smoker, then I got to thinking “you know, you haven’t even tried any non Aromatic blends, why don’t we give them a try” so I did, well once I started smoking non Aromatic blends, my taste changed, then when I smoked oriental forward blends, I was hooked, so as of right now, my favorite blend type is oriental forward English, with G.L. Pease Maltese Falcon being my favorite Blend. 👍👍👍
