I like that you're riding it, I think most were sold to old guys like me as nostalgia. I finally ordered one, they kept selling out! I have an 81 Supergoose already, but I want this, too. And i plan on riding it, just like the Supergoose.....just turned 50, never quit BMX, been doing since 1981.
My dad reconstructed a standard bmx frame back in 1979-80 and redesigned from a chrome Mongoose bmx frame our neighbor had, i remember really liking the factory chrome finish on this Mongoose but on mine it was a sprayed a silver, but the one thing that made the bike were the Yellow tuff wheels my dad kept them for many years and hung them up in the garage bc they were expensive back then, i wish i still had them.
When bikes were super cool.... I had a blue one....I bought it for $40 from a kid down the street when I was a kid.. maybe 1980 or so..he outgrew it and was driving a car..... Eventually I grew older and my dad gave it away....no biggie... Now I am grown up with a son of my own and miss that bike to this day. 😍
Love it that ur Pop got u into old school b.m.x Your a great kid to learn the history. It sounds to me that the updated b.m.x bikes are made alot better.
Lovin your dad story! Rock star voice to boot! I’ll check out your other vids. Im trying to land a goose for my man cave. Gotta grab a number plate and some pads. It’s cool that people are modding the bike and not keeping it in a dark corner boxed up.
My first "BMX" was the 83 Mongoose Expert. the bike I rode the longest. had Haro FST 2 PK Rippers a Skyway TA SE Trickmaster Dyno Comp Hutch Trick Star. Loved them all the Mongoose was the gateway though they were great bikes back then. A few years ago I tried a 20" wasnt a good fit for me but I just got a 26". maybe down the road I'll add back in a 20" cool bike, how's it holding up?
Where did you get it? I want to do one for my kid too!! She will love it. I seen the first ones that remembered that came out we’re very expensive.... But I have heard the unnumbered ones or way cheaper and I need to know where to get one
I actually did end up putting a pair of Tuffs on it. The flight cranks and breaks are going to be a future upgrade. Here is the second video for the bike: m.ruclips.net/video/QnSydLwB0h0/видео.html I changed a lot of it.
Skyway recently got bought by another company. They said they were going to continue to make them. Planet BMX has the best selection, but from what I’ve seen the colored Tuffs go by pretty quick.
Quite some Hi Tense Air there, seeing you do that makes me not worrie to much about trying similar things on my California Special 83 2022 redrop I just got in yesterday, especially since I'm half the size and weight. :D Thx I needed to see this! Is it still intact now?
@@assortedproductions6083 thx for the info was looking to upgrade mine into a 3 piece cromo crank but them old GT cranks on ebay cost more than the the whole bike to begin with if our lucky and can find it that is. Decided to sunday drive it only to do minor shopping tours and buy a GT Performer redrop commig in Oktober to go ham on.
I really do enjoy the bike. Besides bending two pairs of cranks, and exploding one of the bottom bracket bearings, the frame has held up. With some quality parts on it, it’s a good bike.
In it’s stock form I’d say likely not. The bike comes with 8 - 7 1/2 inch bars. At 6’-2” I switched the bars to 9s. The frame length is fine though. With that simple switch I’d say you’d be fine.
heck ya bro. my brother picked me up one of these bikes. it is at illinois at my moms where i fly home 2 times a year. i live on mt hood in oregon. so he seen one at a store a week or so ago and got me the bike .it is new in the box. i have another bike i keep at moms so when i fly home i got a bike to ride in the hometown where i grew up and fell in love with bmx. i am 46 and i still ride flatland bmx. street etc. and i recently filmed me doing tailwhips all over town and edited it real cool. i might keep that bike at moms and order one for here in oregon. have 2 of the same bikes. as sending it from illinois to oregon i might as well put that money back into another one of these bikes. i just subbed bro.
That’s awesome man. Best of luck on getting another one of these. I’ve checked Craigslist and EBay and there going from $350 on the low end to $500 in the upper market. I’m very lucky to have gotten one. Thank you for subscribing as well. I appreciate it.
Some bars called Colt 45s. Not to be mistook for the Cult brand their actually spelt Colt. I bought them a few years ago and have not been able to find another single pair.
@@assortedproductions6083 Thanks. I noticed that in the comments eventually. Great work. Not got your passion nor expertise, but it would amazing bike to remind me of my early childhood. Looking for something to buzz around on during lockdown.
i spotted this bmx in the show 3rd season and thought finally they got the 80s bmx right this season lol i would buy this in a heart beat. but in the show max has tuff wheel on it i think.
That was smart in swapping out the parts from the generic ones. I couldn't imagine the kind of hurt one would endure if they rode it the way you were in the video. Def. a cool collector and looks great being ridden!!
Thank you. This video is just scratching the surface on how I’d like to ride it. Haha. As long as the frame isn’t snapped I’ll be a happy man. There is more to come on this bike. I’ll be posting another video in about a week with more upgrades to it.
My first legit BMX bike was a used one I bought off my older neighbor kid back in the late 80s GT pro performer freestyle. I thought I was the da shit ✊ kept that till I was in middle school when I got my GT interceptor in 1996. I really miss those days 😭 anyway I can't fit 24 in anymore and BMX cruisers are super expensive but I ended up getting a mongoose grudge.
Those GT Pro Performers are worth a lot now. I feel like that situation happens a lot. My Dad gave away his Supergoose in the late 80s, and he regrets it. The value of things never seems to be as important until later down the road. Thanks for watching. Glad to hear you got yourself bike though. Ride on!
Just spent 1700 for a beautiful 82 mongoose. I’m 44, and it gives me the best feeling owning a childhood bmx bike.

Cool informative breakdown you did there man, way cool! 🤙🏼😎

Great video bud! Keep them coming!!
Great video
Oh I totally plan on jumping mine👍👍
Set it up with redline flight crank, tough wheels, odyssey pc pedals, and upgrade the brakes
I actually did end up putting a pair of Tuffs on it. The flight cranks and breaks are going to be a future upgrade. Here is the second video for the bike: m.ruclips.net/video/QnSydLwB0h0/видео.html
I changed a lot of it.
Stranger Things Bike Men's Long Sleeve

I can’t find any skyway tuff wheels that aren’t black or white anymore I guess they discontinued them because I was trying to get yellow ones
Skyway recently got bought by another company. They said they were going to continue to make them. Planet BMX has the best selection, but from what I’ve seen the colored Tuffs go by pretty quick.
Can you list a buyers guide for the mods you did on the bike? I'd like to do the same to mine! Thanks!
Quite some Hi Tense Air there, seeing you do that makes me not worrie to much about trying similar things on my California Special 83 2022 redrop I just got in yesterday, especially since I'm half the size and weight. :D Thx I needed to see this! Is it still intact now?
After bending 3 sets of 1 piece cranks she’s been hanging up in my garage since. Hasn’t touched the dirt in year roughly.

have you ever seen the movie 'reservoir dogs' ? because you sound just like the DJ on that radio-station
What handlebars did you switch to?
Cool video!
What site did you get your goose from?
How did you take the kickstand off? I know it's a stupid question, but how? Thanks!
There’s a single nut that holds it on just behind the the bottom bracket.
Hello, Can you tell me the dimensions of your Uni Number plate and size of the stickers. THANKS
The bike on the show used skyway wheels - not the ones that come on the replica - also the headlight on the show was rectangle , not circular .....
That would be correct. The pedals are different on the show too.
I like this video.I would like to inquire. How much is this bike's weight?
Thank you! I have never weighed it, but I’d like to say it’s in the ballpark of 23-27 pounds.
BTW, the bike is back in stock at Target as of Nov 10th!
Really? That's pretty cool.
I have been kicking around the Idea of buying this bike . At the end of the day having owned it for a little while , are you still happy with it?
I really do enjoy the bike. Besides bending two pairs of cranks, and exploding one of the bottom bracket bearings, the frame has held up. With some quality parts on it, it’s a good bike.
Dumb question but how tall are you? Trying to get an idea if I'll fit on the max!
6’-2”, Swapped out the bars and it was a good fit.
Thanks for the review. So it's safe to say this bike would be a comfortable ride for an adult?
In it’s stock form I’d say likely not. The bike comes with 8 - 7 1/2 inch bars. At 6’-2” I switched the bars to 9s. The frame length is fine though. With that simple switch I’d say you’d be fine.
How big of bars did you put on it?
That was so long ago, I can’t really remember. Maybe 9-1/2s? I don’t think anything bigger than 10s.
@@assortedproductions6083 thank you!

Hi where can I buy some new rim and seat for the bike
Any local bike shops should be able to point you for what you’re looking for.
What bars are you running?
Some bars called Colt 45s. Not to be mistook for the Cult brand their actually spelt Colt. I bought them a few years ago and have not been able to find another single pair.
Do you think that a 5ft 7 woman could ride it? It reminds me of my childhood and I've found one for sale.
Sure! I changed out the bars and it became my main bike. I’m 6’-2”.
@@assortedproductions6083 Thanks. I noticed that in the comments eventually. Great work. Not got your passion nor expertise, but it would amazing bike to remind me of my early childhood. Looking for something to buzz around on during lockdown.
How tall are you I might buy a bike for my son I’m just wondering because he’s 5’8
Just around 6’-2”. I sill manage to ride a 20”. Let me add I did change the bars on this bike, so it would fit me better.
I had a blue one
Nice

Good eye. I just looked up some behind the scene photos and she definitely has a set of Tuffs on the bike.
Thank you for this video! Enjoy your awesome, new, retro Goose. Cheers.
No problem. Thank you for watching!
I bought this bike and I don't know what size the pedals are. could you give me the average of the 9/16 or 1/2 pedals?
1/2 pedals are for 1 piece cranks. 9/16 for 3 piece. This bike has 1 piece cranks.

Well you know what they say I bike sits around after the rider turns 16
But for me and lots of other people this doesn't apply to us
Close to 1K, try 2 to 10 k
Oh get over it. It’s a 200 dollar bike
