  • I traveled to Taipei with Mike Devitt of SE Racing to get ready for the Taiwan Bicycle Show and this video was produced by the Dodson Factory to show what Freestyle BMX was to the factories.

So Rad! I love the pose and the one Taiwanese girl clapping right after, what a cool experience Taipei must've been in the 80s! I also, TOTALY want that awesome SE golf shirt that guy is wearing now too...Thanks Fred!

My gf was 3 years old and also in Taipei when this was filmed, cool to see the world she grew up in captured like this. And always love to see mag wheels in action. Too bad there was never a way to top a spoked wheel- I wonder how many kids got into BMX in the 80s boom just because those bikes looked so cool

Awesome stuff! Back when they filmed RADtv. I remember you doing a decade in a mini golf course, and I literally learned that trick watching you over and over during that show. The commentator even said you give it that break dance look. Never forget it! Nice to see you again so many years later. What a treat! Thanks for this vintage goodness!

I remember religiously watching a video tape with him biking around the city with other guys, old school snowboarding, and half pipe skating. Wish I still had it!

Being a old school BMXer. Love the old school SE Bikes. Still have a SE Racing jersey. Had a Quadangle & PK Ripper both set up as freestyle bikes. Both with Standing Gear forks, SE Power Wing bars, Red line Flight cranks. Skyway Graphites on Quad & ACS Z rims on PK. And all the bolt on freestyle bits you could buy.

Cool Fred! I didn't know you did BMX as well. I remember you rollerskating in the Gale Webb demos and competing in vert CASL contests, that my brothers and I also skated in Gales demos and many contests.

Funny to see the engineers at the end, trying to figure out the gyro. Great riding there Freddy. This is a historical video, needs to be preserved. Thanks for posting this!

This video is so rad! Thanks for sharing Fred. I love the part at the end when the engineers were studying the rotor design. What chainwheel & crank were on the SE?
