Vert proud of you for stepping to the plate and finding out what happen and correct the problem. That is so great. Wishing continued blessings in your new career in the US Navy. I had wanted to the join the US Navy back in the day but, I could not swim, even today too. From US Air Force Security Police Military Veteran. GOD bless America.
Thanks for making this video. It looks like we were in the same training group. I got asmo’d to 436 from 400 and you looked kinda familiar. I got separated but it’s nice to hear about others experience
What time do you have to finish the mile and a half run in bootcamp for females ?What happens if you don’t make that time? Do you have any tips to help prepare?
Depends on your age but the youngest category is a 14:45, if you don’t make it you get rolled back in bootcamp so you stay until you can or they kick you out. Only way to really get better at running is to run and controlling your breathing
I am an old Navy vet from the '70s. I am coaching a lady right now that is 35 years old. She has entered DEP and waiting for a ship date. In your experience, how do they treat older recruits? This lady has been through a lot and needs a new start.
We actually had a lady in my division that was in her 30s! Top recruit in our whole training group! In my opinion, they don’t get treated much different, if any. In my division I felt like we were all treated just the same
Yes I did have the 1.5 mile run test! You have an initial pfa, which is pretty similar to your final one with push-ups, planks, and run, and then you’ll have an RDC Assessment Week 4 to make sure you can pass the official, then week 6-7 you’ll have your final pfa!
Unfortunately I don’t have much knowledge on the snow because I didn’t have to experience that. But the gun range was pretty scary for me, just take notes and do as you’re told. You don’t have to be an expert at shooting to pass bootcamp!
hey I don’t know if you’ll see this! It’s been a while since you posted this video. I just wanted to ask how much push ups you did going in and how many you were able to do leaving? I’m working hard on my push ups, I’ve never been good with them haha. Just wanted to see someone else’s improvements!
Going in I could only do about the baseline, which was maybe around 28ish. My final graduation PRT I was able to push almost 40 at bootcamp! It’s definitely achievable but have a good solid foundation going in, best of luck!
@@briannaawood that’s so good to hear about the improvement! were all your push ups 90 degree angle? or do they even care about the angle your arms are at?
They give you a razor and you can shave every night if you had the time, but usually it was saved for holiday routine on Sunday mornings which was our “me” time
hey!! loved how informative your video was! my sister is going into the nuke program, one question though.. how is the living arrangement? will she have he own room
It depends on if there are more females in her class, she’ll most likely be roomed with them! It’s a suite with two bunk beds in separate rooms that share a bathroom in between. Hope this helps!
@@briannaawood Hello, so my sister finally left for BC earlier this month. We do not know the actually graduation date yet because we have not received the form letter yet. Just wandering how many days after BC did you have to report to Charleston. We are trying to see if we will be able to spend time with her for the weekend or only the day of graduation.
@@elisedonald7534 from experience with my fiance in the army, after boot camp he was allowed 2 days with his family and friends then had a few days before he went to his job training, but we could not spend it with him. I'm assuming it's the same for the navy, and I'm not making any plans with family besides those 2 liberty days after boot camp (I'm going to be a nuke as well)
I only got that Friday with my parents and I flew out the next Saturday morning! Sometimes they send a bunch of nukes at once so there’s a chance she might be in hold, but a lot of us fly straight here. Unfortunately we don’t find that out until the day after battlestations
@Brianna Wood thank you for the quick rewponse. So just to confirm all I will do is the push up, the plank and the pacer laps from cone to cone after P Days. And then I do the 1.5 mile officially for the RDC test?
Honestly, I’d bring what you need for the hotel and maybe some stamps haha. They give you a LOT of stuff and they let you buy some stuff from the NEX. Definitely if you’re religious I’d recommend a small religious text.
Hi Brianna , my daughter will be graduating on Wednesday, I’m a little confused on how the transportation going to be ( for A school ).Do they provide the transportation to the airport or my daughter would have to look for that her own, sorry if I’m not explaining myself good
They will provide her with transportation to A School! It’ll be a flight, or by bus depending on where she is going but she should know by her last week to let you know!
All the schools are challenging, just in different ways. A lot of staff are here that provide a lot of help, I struggled a little bit in the beginning but asking questions and not being afraid to ask for help is key
I mean we all go through the exact same training, males just have different physical standards. You will actually probably have a sister division that you study and train with
Shitty Drama filled Division, but great RDC's..fucking same. Just graduated and waiting to be shipped to Charlston. Can't wait to leave Great Lakes..not that NNPTC will be any better. Great overview.
I have some questions. After you finished your boot camp, how did you get your things which were already packed for a school? How much weight could you bring, like just a carry-on baggage or even a checked baggage? Could you go to your a school by your own plan or with other sailors, like military plan? When could your family start to ship things to you, to your A school?
So a lot of this stuff depends on your A-school and what your rate is, and I can only speak for my rate 😂 but I had some small things packed in my backpack that I took to bootcamp and a small carry-on suitcase that my parents sent to my A-school in a box. We were allowed to get things shipped pretty much as soon as we were processed in so like a week.
@Robin Oo, FYI - most airlines allow military members on orders up to five bags of luggage. Some airlines allow 50-lbs per bag while other airlines allow up to 100-lbs per bag 👍
In my division we had like a handful of people over 21, I think somewhere around 10 at most that made it through, our division was small so it was about 1/4 of our division
Hey Brianna! As of right now I am in DEP for the navy. I have signed a contract for nuc and I am suppose to leave March 15. I’m just curious as to how long it took for you to find out about your secret security clearance. It’s been like 2.5 months since I filled my paperwork out. It’s making me very anxious lmao
You’ll find out 100% once you get into A School! I was worried about mine so I understand. They’ll give you badges with your information on it, different color golds mean if you have your clearance. Can’t say too much but that’s my best way to explain. So counting when I started my paperwork to when I found out, was about 4ish months. Good luck FS!
