    I cast on several times using different methods (needle-wise) and finally settled on magic loop. And I practiced German twist, but I couldn’t read the stitches. LOL. Just realized I was missing a step. Socasting on again! DPNS this time with the proper cast on. Thank you so much for your tutelage. ❤️❤️❤️

    I love to follow you and your instructions are among the best.
    There is one thing I learned from my grandmothers (yes, I had two to teach me; sounds like hamony, but life can be soooo differnt from our ideas).
    They both casted on holding two needles in their right hands. So the knits are a bit wider and the first round is much easier to knit.
    Best regards, Claudia

    Stephen, I've got a 10" cable sock set. Would it be better to use a 40" cable for magic loop or would the 10" Knitters Pride sock set be okay? I have both, as well as double pointed sock needles.

    • @StephenWest
      @StephenWest  Год назад +2

      The 10” should work I think with the stitches stretched out a bit over that circumference. The magic loop may be more comfortable though. I love magic loop for hats and sweater sleeves but I found that DPNs are my favorite way to knit socks. I like the long DPNs and how they feel in my hands because I have larger hands.

    • @StephenWest
      @StephenWest  Год назад +11

      You could knit the next leg section shorter so the leg isn't as long. Another option is to cast on a size larger for the cuff and leg and then when we decease stitches later before the foot, you could decrease more stitches to get a smaller foot circumference.

      @delilahdolittle1623 Год назад +1

      Are you a member of Ravelry? Your question might be answered faster over there - in the forum - many helpful knitters there. I think it is up to you - if you want to carry the end behind the slipped stitches and keep on weaving it in, or stop and snip off the remaining tail when you get to the slipped stitches. Also depends on how long the end is I suppose. This is just my opinion. I am not a professional knitter 😀

    Hi Stephen. I didn't buy your sock pattern, and I'm not planning to make such socks. But I do like this 'stair-step' stitch-pattern. You show it very clearly in this video, so probably you don't mind if I use this stitchpattern in another knitting project, do you?

      Absolutely! Go for it! It's a really easy and effective stitch pattern.

    I'm wondering why the pattern isn't free since you are demonstrating the whole pattern here for free. I'm on social security and I have zero wiggle room in my budget. I'm sad.

      Never mind. He doesn't do every row in the video. I'll make these someday.

      Do you have Ravelry (where the printed pattern is)? If so, please leave your Ravelry name and I will gift you the pattern.
