Yes renters do have rights they have the right not to pay rent they have the right to trash landlord's property and they even have the right to assault a landlord when they don't want to pay rent
It's unfortunate if you've experienced those things but not all renters engage in such a manner. I'm being extorted by my landlord because I applied for a government rental assistance program. I haven't even been approved yet but the greedy man is trying to force me to engage in his conspiracy to extort money from the government by lying about the amount of rent I pay. I'm not going to do but he says I have to move because of it. I have OCD and I keep my home so clean that I've had people comment that my house is sterile like a hospital. Meanwhile it rains in my bathroom and there's holes in my floors, just to make a few issues.
