That's very considerate of you. Having a lease provides clarity, but your flexibility and understanding are commendable, helping tenants in difficult times.
As a long-time landlord, I can honestly say that ANYONE who rents without a written lease needs to get a written, signed lease ASAP. Don't be a sucker!
a male landlord can kick u out because he rented to a female intending to try to hump in the future and realize she got a man so the landlord can revoke the lease over anything he can make up to find a different single mother with a man "single mother hunter" landlord
@@bg5097it means you’re a boarder, so example US boarder vs US citizen, you have more rights and security vs as a boarder you can get kicked out after 48 hours, without a notice or anything
I keep an audio recording of the verbal agreements, counts as a verbal lease in Ontario. And also learn how to file an A7 and submit affidavits yourself without legal counsel using the Ontario portal for the Kings Court.
Monterey County, CA; implied lease only; single family owner not living on site did not provide proof of exemption from AB1482 (as no lease/written rental agreement); raised the rent 25-35% on multiple subtenants in latest rental agreement (AB 1110 protects tenants from 10+% rent hike: landlord or rep on site must provide 90 days notice); when tenants balked, Lease Holder texted each was evicted within 2 days of new lease signing/August 1st. HELP!
Thanks for your comment! You're right getting a good 30-Day Notice after your re-certification is really important. It shows that you completed the process on time and helps protect your rights as a tenant.
I had the worst landlord and it was right during the pandemic. I had a Ministry that was actually helping me pay rent so the rent was definitely getting paid. It came time for me to start paying my half of the rent and I got a receipt from the landlord each time. He wanted to be mean because the ministry would not give him the money early. It turned out him and his son who was my roommate, we're both on drugs and I did not know that when I first moved in. A lady from the ministry even did an inspection and met both of them and she didn't suspect anything. Long story short, I couldn't use the washing machine and then the dryer, then I wasn't allowed to turn the air below a certain temperature in the summer and it was so hot and then as soon as they lifted the no eviction policy during the pandemic, he went to the court and have me evicted then him and his son hit the notices from the door and the mailbox and had me and my 3.5 year old child put out without solutely zero notice. He also lied to the court and said that I owed him $750 which is one month of rent and I'm guessing he had to do that to have me put out because he couldn't say anything else. I realize this after watching this video. I'm still bitter about it and I don't want to let it go because that's what my rental record now
Very Sketch! Sorry that happened to you. Lesson; From what you tell it seems the only error you might have made was living with the son of the landlord. Seems like that would have given him access to the mail. If you had receipts and would have been notified of court you surely wouldn't have that on your record. Not sure if you could figure out a way to prove to judge mail was stolen and provide paid rent reciepts if they might remove it?!
@SlanepropertiesLLC yea... I was very depressed at the time & was sleeping alot.. my job shut down & the pandemic had began, didn't know what to expect so I slept life away while my son was at pre-k. That's how they got away with it. They did got paid but because of the landlords attitude with the ministry, they'd make him wait longer for their part & it pissed him off... rightfully so but he was calling them N slurs, bit*he's, etc.. in the end, it only hurt me. He got rid of me because he didn't wanna deal with them but it all came down to his attitude & even asked for the $$ early the 2nd month. They told him no & he got mad. It was either live there or be homeless because that was last day in homeless shelter we had. My son was 4 at the time. Ahhh.... thanks, I just saw ur response after a year lol
*I have kind of a complex question that I CANNOT find the answer to no matter how much I search google. So My issue is this: I live in New York, and rented from my previous landlord, lets call him E, and I now have a new landlord, lets call him C. Before C bought my building, E let me know that he "transferred my lease" to C. I paid first and last month's rent to E when I first moved in, but he didn't mention if he sent my last month's rent to C with the 'lease transfer'. I plan on moving out of new landlord C's apartment when the 1 year lease is up. Should I expect to not have to pay last month's rent my last month there? What happens if my previous landlord did NOT send my new landlord my last month's rent, and I am not able to get in contact with my old landlord to ask him if he did? Please help lol*
, I advise you to first reach out to your current landlord (C) to confirm whether they received the last month's rent from your previous landlord (E) during the lease transfer. If they did, ensure you have documentation or receipts to support your payment. If they didn't receive it, attempt to contact landlord E again to discuss the matter and request confirmation of payment transfer. It's essential to maintain open communication with both landlords to resolve any misunderstandings. Document all conversations and keep records of payments made. If you encounter difficulties reaching a resolution, consider seeking guidance from a tenant advocacy group or housing authority in your area. They can provide valuable support and advice tailored to your specific situation.
In Ohio, it is expected that one gives the other the notice not to renew in writing. Also, a "month's notice" doesn't mean June 10 to July 10. If rents are due the first of the month, a month's notice must be given 30 days before the next rent is due. So if a tenant gives a month's notice on June 15, he owes the full month of July rent. Of course, unless the 2 parties come to some negotiated agreement.
I let friends move in and I paid the mortgage, we agreed they would pay the utilities, I paid trash. One paid water& gas and the other paid electric. One was on dialysis and use one of the two rooms for it, we had a bed in that room where I sleep at first. They occupied the master bedroom since they were a couple. They ended up removing the bed without telling me and said because of the dialysis, I spelt on the recliner and told them it won't work out that they need to save up to move. They did nothing. 2 months after I gave them a 30day notice to move and they got hostel with me. I felt threaten and they claimed I was harassing them so I moved in with boyfriend I gave them almost 6 months to move out before I filled out the unlawful detainer. They claim that they don't comply with it due to the condition of the house. It was inspected for his dialysis and they never said or gave me anything stating what they responded with. It being my home and my life savings I am low income and can't afford an attorney. Is there any advice you could give me. Idk what to do from here and I live in ridgecrest California. Where it's 2 hours to any legal help. I appreciate your time and advice. -F.Wray
I'm sorry to hear about your situation. It's crucial to seek legal guidance despite the distance. Consider reaching out to legal aid organizations that might provide assistance remotely. You could also explore online legal resources or forums for guidance specific to your area's laws and regulations. Best of luck.
A year ago I purchased a home in New Mexico after the owner passed away and it has a back house which had renters living in it on month to month payments (no lease) When my husband and I bought the home we had no intention of being landlords and we actually want to turn the back house into a garage. We planned to remodel the main house and since it was in the middle of Covid we verbally told the renters that they are welcome to stay in the apartment for a year, while we remodel. Well fast forward to 2023, we gave a written notice to the renters 3 months in advance as a reminder of the upcoming move out date. Then we gave them another written notice 30 days prior to the move out date. Well, move out date came and the renters refused to move and started becoming hostile. I quickly got an attorney who wrote up a 3 day eviction notice and we had a police officer deliver it to the renters. Well, they still have refused to move. Fast forward to now 2 months later and we are waiting for the court date which is finally set in August. Its been such a nightmare. We are still not living in the main house out of the awkwardness it is having people who we do not want there essentially living in the back yard. I have been so stressed on this, buying a home with no intention of being a landlord and doing what we thought was nice by giving the renters up to a year to find a new place.. Is there any way the court would rule in the favor of the renter? I'm so scared of that happening, I have no idea what we would do..
I'm not able to predict court rulings, but if you have documented evidence of the verbal agreement and subsequent written notices, you're in a better position legally. Courts often consider proper notice and documented communication. Consult your attorney to ensure all documentation and evidence are prepared for the court date.
I have been renting an apt in a 2 family house in Orange County NY for 30 yrs without a lease. Now the owner has decided to sell the house. Can I be evicted by new owner? Old owner? What I am most appalled about is the fact that a realtor took photos of the inside of my apt and put them on the realtors website showing all of my possessions. Is that not an invasion of privacy?
Thank you for your comment. It sounds like you are in a difficult situation. It is understandable that you are concerned about being evicted by the new owner, however, it is important to know your rights as a tenant. As far as the realtor taking photos of the inside of your apartment and displaying them online, that is definitely an invasion of privacy. I would recommend speaking with an attorney who specializes in landlord/tenant law to ensure that you are protected.
I need your advice my daughter lived in a rooming house since 2013..The original landlord gave her a lease he left and a new landlord took over in 2015 he never gave her a renewed lease, he also raised her rent ( none in wrighting)my daughter list her job due to the pandemic but she did apply for back rent & he received a large payment, She has the confirmation of the payment Now hes saying he wants everyone out so he can rent to a family because the other tenant were withholding there rent what steps do she take now..legally
Hi i'm in California I'm eight tenant renting a room out of somebody's house they charged me $650 for a room I don't have no lease no paper nothing written down so when I first moved in here they told me that I can cook in the kitchen couple months down the line they told me I couldn't cook there anymore so my question is also how much can they charge me if I'm a day late they're charging me $50 is that reasonable or are they overcharging me
Ky. 3 years of living here, no lease, maintained all maintance, always paid rent. 3 strangers came to my door yesterday to tape a note to my door to tell me i have a hand written 30 evict , signed by the new owner., Not notrized, because they're the new owner. Didnt even know this was happening. 30 days is so close to try to find something . I asked if i could have 60 days, he laughed and said 30 days he will be back with the sheriff.
Contact a local tenant rights organization or a lawyer immediately. In many places, proper eviction notices need to follow legal procedures. You may have rights that can provide you with more time or protect you from an improper eviction.
There is one video where a judge is talking about eviction procedures and the video does not even have 1 like, 1 subscription or 1 comment. I bet the viewers were thinking "we should send the squatters to your home"
How does In this case I think I can just pack up 23 years of memories in 5 days And to make matters worse while I'm in the hospital dealing with mom's unfortunate passing webroken to the home and stole everything it was worth stealing and USA a won't honor the claim because now it does not belong to the Richard's name
One last thing I would like todad is that the electric company shut off the power in the middle of July so I was waiting for my disability and really wasn't able to afford it at the pretty hot and I had to get mom to the hospital or unfortunately she passed away within 12 or 16 hours something like that But I think the electric company is a little bit It was a 80 Shutting off electricity in the middle of July I think they're a little Responsible for her death God rushed your soul
Cash for keys can be risky if not handled properly. While it might seem like an easy solution, it’s important to remember that it’s a negotiation between the tenant and landlord. If it’s not done legally, it could backfire and cause more problems. Always make sure any agreement is in writing to protect both sides.
when I tried to get the lease a year ago, they stalled. But let’s see if the owners know that I bought everything from him. While he turned around and became my lease.leesee
What are the tenants rights if the landlord doesn't have a rental license, they received a notice from L&I that he couldn't collect rent until producing a rental licence. I moved out before he received the passing inspection, and the rental licence?
Tenants have rights even if the landlord doesn't have a rental license. You should consult a lawyer to find out what specific rights you have in this situation. Generally speaking, tenants may be able to withhold rent until the landlord obtains a rental license or rescind the lease agreement and receive a refund of any prepaid rent.
I have a written rental & Lease agreement goin back to 9 of 2013...it was a 1 year lease & Was never revised..never missed rent , never any complaints,..im 62 fighting cancer fir five years now..do i have any rights against eviction ? I Thank You For Advice..!!
Good luck in your Battle with Cancer. If you don't have a current lease most likely 30 days notice would be all that would be required of a landlord to ask you to leave. Check for your state in Nolo.com. Search your state and eviction, then look for articles on that. They do sell products but if you search and then click "ARticles" usually pretty good info
when I tried to get the lease a year ago, they stalled. But let’s see if the owners know that I bought everything from him. While he turned around and became my lease. Get us both kicked outn
That sounds like a tricky situation. If you don’t have a formal lease, your rights might be different depending on local laws. It might be a good idea to consult with a legal professional to clarify your options and protect yourself. Let me know if you need help finding resources!
My landlord is trying to sue me for the 4 months I didn't pay the last months I stayed there .. we have to more court dates next one is hearing.. the trial.. but anyways they didn't sign the lease I did and the court has the copy I'm also sueing for not answering to board of health 3 times while is 3 times the rent .. hope to hear back from ya
it sounds like you're dealing with a tough situation. Even if the landlord didn't sign the lease, they may still have grounds to pursue the unpaid rent. I recommend consulting a lawyer to help with both the rent issue and the health board violation. Good luck with your court dates!
In Colorado, a new law just passed that doesn't matter if you're month to month or on contract with the landlord, you cannot lawfully evict a tenant WITHOUT cause now. You cannot force them out by the sheriff until you've gone to court. I'm going through this right now. My landlord's DAUGHTER is trying to evict me, she's going about it all wrong, she's not even my landlord, and if I have to be taken to court, SHE is gonna be the one who looks like the fool. Plus, I'm mentally ill, and here in Colorado, it is illegal to evict a tenant without mediation FIRST if they receive public assistance, which I do. Every state is different. Landlords can't just throw you out "Just because" in some states. The realtor showings have been exacerbating my mental illness and I'm about to go to small claims court and file a lawsuit for the violation of my right to peaceful enjoyment of the premises, the mental distress caused by all this, including all the illegal things her father (the official landlord and owner) has done to me in the entire 8 years living in the house I'm about to be booted from. All because they don't get to do showings when I mentally can't handle having people going in and out of my house. It was getting to the point where the realtor showings were almost every day and then I finally broke down and told her off. Even though I'm a tenant and I'm mentally ill, I'm not gonna be that bitch's doormat. Excuse my language, but yeah... So there's that.
I moved in with my daughter 5 months ago she is on the lease I am not what are my rights can the manager make me move out immediately through nothing but a text message
If you are not on the lease, your daughter is on the lease and will need to abide by it. It likely states the length of time visitors are allowed to stay before being considered residents. This may even go back to the city and the occupancy permit. how many people are permitted to stay. I would encourage you to have your daughter reach out to the landlord and try and get you added to the lease. If the landlord is aware of the situation and asking you to leave it is probably past that conversation but might still be worth calling and discussing the situation.
I Currently live in New York State I rent rooms in a house, the landlord lives inside of the house as well. I have six children they’ve been going to school since we moved in here July 8, 2019 I never had a written lease it was always a verbal agreement but I do have an owner affidavit that the landlord signed and got notarized and on that affidavit she wrote our verbal agreement that was five years now she’s denying she ever said that there’s a ton of repairs including a roof leaking rodents and other bugs septic issues garbage that builds up an unfinished deck and no railing around the pool doors that aren’t secure windows that I don’t open and I’m considering holding the rent but I wanna know if that’s The smartest thing to do. I wrote a letter to her and mailed it certified mail the day that her and her boyfriend received a letter he came in screaming and telling me to pack my F’ing S*%t and get out Not to use his stove not to use his refrigerator that I crossed the line by reporting it to the health department they were mad because they’re already dealing with the health department due to the septic issues that they’ve been ignoring I can’t find a lawyer that will at least even give me advice everyone is telling me that they don’t handle those kind of issues they only help Landlords please help I’m worried the house is going to be condemned and I want to know what steps I should take and what I can do and what my rights are
I'm sorry, this is probably above my level of expertise. I believe when a Landlord is renting out a room in a property they also occupy (up to 4 units or less) they are not held to the same standards as a landlord renting out an entire property. I believe you may have less of case to stay if they want you to leave since they are living there. Regarding landlord not fixing things, that is not great, I would encourage you to get ready to move because it sounds like they are not fixing anything. But I do NOT know and I don't know about every state specifically. Check out Nolo.com for State Specific advice. Let me know if you find other free online resources with better info.
It was APPLIED for, over late March last year. But not actually validated, til 2 months later??? Can they still kick us out?? We are a disabled household
It's crucial to clarify the situation with your landlord and review your local tenant rights. Consider seeking legal advice or assistance from a tenants' rights organization to understand your options and protections.
I live in Virginia. I do not have a lease. I have lived in the rental house for 13 years. I have never been late on rent. A verbal eviction notice was given with no paperwork. The landlord's garage caught on fire and they want to live in the residence while repairs are being done to their home. What are my rights?
You should talk with the landlord first and try and work something out. If that doesn't work, you want to consult an attorney. If you pay rent and they continue to accept rent you likely have a legal claim to continue staying. They most likely need to get notice to vacate in writing. Even if only via text it may hold up as sufficent notice. No Lease and you are limited in your rights to remain as a lawful tenant.
GOOD GOD DID SHOW THAT LANDLORD A SIGN 🤔🤔🤔🤔 THAT BEEN EVIL TO YOU AS TENANTS IS NOT GOOD....SO THE GARAGE CAUGHT FIRE....GOD DOESN'T WORK WELL WITH EVIL LANDLORDS....GOD WORKS IN MYSTERIOUS WAYS...FOR YOU TO MOVE TO PAY THREE WAYS OR FOUR WAYS....GOD IS WITH THE TENANT...
(For the state of Florida) What if you are a roommate and both of you aren’t on the lease and the other roommate decides to leave on a short notice but the person who signed the lease does not want the other roommate who isn’t moving to stay there but that person paid their portion of the rent for the month already and needs time to move into a new place ?
Hey Tonie, Sounds like an issue between 'friends' that need to work it out. The landlord and lease and the person on the lease is the one that ultimately get to decide. Just a heads up; If roommates are living there and not on the lease, the landlord may want everyone out.
@@SlanepropertiesLLC im glad you stated that. Current coomate is trying to kick me with no notice and i think ill be speaking to his landlord about his renting a room without his knowledge and see what they gotta say about that.
What if you're living in a apartment where the lease holder has died... but you arent on the lease and you have been paying rent in that persons name who died.? But you are having a little difficulty paying the rent now?
If the leaseholder passed away, and you're not on the lease but have been paying rent in their name, it's a complex situation. It's crucial to address this with the landlord or seek legal advice promptly to understand your rights and responsibilities.
Hello sir I am in Winnipeg MB We don’t have lease and security deposit even. As a landlord we are really upset from our tannants. They are misusing appliances at my home. As a landlord what should we do ? Firstly she denied to leave and now my talked to her husband they said ok once we got another place we will leave . We gave them notice one month before. They have more than a month to find another place Please let me know what should I do ? I will be very thankful to you
Since you gave them a one-month notice, they should leave as agreed. If they refuse, you may need to start the eviction process according to Manitoba’s laws. Make sure you keep records of everything and consult a local lawyer or tenant rights group for guidance on how to proceed.
Without having a copy of lease agreement I had no idea I needed to give a 30day notice before moving out although its all cleared and I recently put in a maintenance request since I have to now lease for another month. Although I will not be living there.
Not having a copy of the lease doesn't exempt you from providing notice. It's typically required to give a 30-day notice before moving out, regardless of lease possession. Make sure to notify the landlord formally to avoid potential complications.
Hello. I live in Oklahoma and I am renting to own a mobile home. I have a copy of my paperwork but it is packed up and I can't remember what box it is in. I recently asked my landlord for a copy of it and she refuses. What am I able to do without suffering repercussions and losing my home? Thank you and many Blessings!
You have the right to request and receive a copy of your rental agreement. Contact a tenant rights organization or legal aid for assistance in getting a copy without facing repercussions."
We are a tenant and have been for 10 years. The landlord was an elderly woman who was taken advantage of by a prior tenant she was offering a lease option. The house was gutted so we agreed that she would give us 23000. To apply when we decided to purchase the home as compensation. We agreed and spent thousand putting in a kitchen, flooring, painted, put in cabinets etc. Did landscaping well a lawyer came buy and told us she was incapacitated and he was the guardian and wanted the lease. I told him about the 23,000 that was owed and he said he would look into it. Are we going to get screwed? We own a flooring contracting and are considering getting a mechanics lein to protect the money we put into this house. We have evidence of all work and the state of the house before we moved in.
vDocument all your investments and communicate clearly with the guardian or lawyer. Consider seeking legal advice to protect your rights, including the option of filing a lien to safeguard your investment. Best of luck resolving this.
What is my right as a tenant after renting for 10 years my landlord sold the house and says she does not have my original lease in order to refund the deposit so I paid. How do I get my deposit back without a lease? Do I have the right to see and ask for my original lease? I’ve looked everywhere on Google, but can’t seem to find anything about the topic, I live in Oregon! Anyone have advice??😊
As a tenant, you have the right to request your security deposit back, regardless of the original lease's availability. Oregon law typically requires landlords to return the deposit or provide an itemized list of deductions within a certain period after tenancy ends. Seek legal advice or contact the Oregon State Bar or tenant advocacy groups for guidance on the deposit return process.
Yes, your tenant still needs to pay rent for the full month since they gave you a 30-day notice. Even without a written contract, the month-to-month agreement means they’re responsible for the rent until the notice period ends.
As a property owner, the message is simple.. . When I decide to make a move or sell. You better bet you will roll. Always have legal process and professionals on speed dial to assure you comply My property my rules, you failed to sign a lease… foolish.
I understand your perspective, but it's important to remember that tenants still have rights, even without a lease. Open communication can help both parties.
@@SlanepropertiesLLC I agree. If they want to play games I play the game back. Most are not an issue. And I would never let someone use my property without a lease.
I'm in North Carolina been I'm home 4 years no lease landlord want give one he told me from day one rent due on 1st late on 4th now he texted 3 days before rent due mad for personal reasons and trying charge a 75$ late fee one day late is that legal rent is 700 a month
It’s not legal to charge a late fee before rent is actually late. In North Carolina, fees can't be imposed until rent is 5 days late. Document everything and consider contacting your local tenant rights organization for assistance.
I’ve been living in this house for six years and for the last 4 1/2 years we have had a lease, but for the last 18 months or so there has been no lease. I live in New York State. What problems as a tenant will I run into? Do I have any rights? I don’t see an eviction coming in the future, because we are always on time with our rent, but I’m kind of concerned that my landlord has not given me another lease. Do you have any input on this, that could help me? Thank you very much.
Without a lease, you're likely month-to-month, offering flexibility but also potential changes with proper notice. You still have rights regarding habitability and notice. Discussing a new lease with your landlord could provide clarity and protection for both parties. Communication is key. Best of luck!
I have been trying and trying since May to get help from the legal aide in New Mexico and other agencies as well as searching on line for answer regarding the lease renewal notice sent on May 1 2023 and now the lease is expiring in two days. The office has not only been ignoring my in person and emails requests for information about when to go in there to sign this new lease, but it's now been five times since March 13 2023, that they have also ignored my in person and emails inquires in regards to my request for reasonable accommodation. The corporate office has also not returned one of my calls either, so no help and don't know where I stand and there's nothing else available to rent due to gouging and long waiting lists.
I understand your frustration. Given the urgency, it might be beneficial to seek immediate legal advice or advocacy from other tenant rights organizations to address the lease renewal and accommodation requests promptly.
I got a non contractual agreement with someone who owns a house here in Nebraska. He’s stated he doesn’t want any money but in return i fix his property which i have been doing. Today he threatened to kick me out without a notice. How do i go about protecting myself from this sudden change of events?
Since you don't have a formal lease, it’s important to know that even in a verbal agreement, the landlord still has to give you proper notice (usually 30 days in Nebraska) before kicking you out. I’d recommend talking to a local attorney or tenant rights group to protect yourself and get advice on your next steps. Keep track of the work you've done on the property, as it could help your case.
@@SlanepropertiesLLC i did all that and attempted to get ahold kf the landlord who later filed a repossession writ of restitution because he went and complained to a supreme court judge that he personally knew and they even had a hearing without me because my landlord intercepted any mail summoning me to that court hearing…. I put a motion to continue to oppose the writ and it was rejected…. my landlord in other words played me dirty big time…
I signed a 12 month lease in Missouri, but by the time I started moving in, the landlord stopped working on the apartment. He did not steam cleaned the filthy carpet. I asked him to clean it and he said he's not doing it. When the lease was over it went to month to month, and I asked him again to clean the carpet, and again he said no. I'm 73 years old with COPD, and the carpet is so filthy that I can't tell if there's mold on the under side. I really like to know if there's anything I can do. I've never missed a payment or late. I need help.
You could document the issue and try discussing it with your landlord again. If that doesn't work, consider seeking advice from local tenant advocacy groups or legal aid to understand your rights and possible options.
i have an ex girlfriend who wont leave had an agreement she could stat untill my dad got out of the hospital. has become agressive and violent going to serve 3 day notice for at will tennant.
I'm the tenant, and you had an agreement on $275 a month then the landlord changes it to 350.00 without telling you it changed. Then you come home one day and they have all my belongings going threw it deciding what there going to keep and won't return any of it. I'm in terre haute indiana
This situation seems highly concerning and potentially illegal. Seek immediate legal advice or contact local tenant rights organizations to understand your rights and take action against these actions by your landlord.
Good question! In most cases, a text message alone is not considered a formal or legal notice of eviction. Eviction notices usually need to be in writing and delivered according to local laws, which can vary by state or country. Let me know if you need more details!
I'm elderly, had a lease, but recently I don't, they are still taking money from me, they say don't worry about it. It's all good. But being elderly, I don't like it at all. I can't seem to get them to give me one. I live in northern Indiana.
Living without a lease can be concerning, especially for an elderly individual. It's crucial to have a written agreement for your protection. Consider seeking local tenant rights assistance to ensure your housing situation is secure and legally sound.
For california, my e boyfriend and I rent a house from his father but now that the relationship is coming to an end, his father is trying to build a false case against me to have me evicted by saying that I owe thousands in back rent when the truth is that he told me to stop working when COVID hit and to not worry about rent or utilities (for 2 yrs) in order to stay home safe with our daughter who was home schooling. He excluded me from our lease agreement and the COVID discussion was between him and his son so I have nothing in writing and now he’s retaliating against me over personal reasons. I can’t afford to have an eviction on my record and I also can’t afford to pay back 2 yrs of back rent without warning. Because we have a daughter together I’m being advised to stay o n the property until the custody is settled but now he’s trying to have me evicted What can I do??
Fricken leave jeezus why stay where you’re not wanted, nobody owes you anything especially his father, god do you hear yourself, I’m embarrassed for you
That sounds like a very difficult situation. I understand that you want to protect your daughter and stay on the property until the custody is settled, but also want to avoid an eviction on your record. I would suggest talking to an attorney to discuss your options. They may be able to help you negotiate with your landlord and come to an agreement that is suitable for both parties. Best of luck!
If the landlord is refusing to sign a receipt, that’s a red flag. It's important to get proof of payment, especially if you're paying in cash. You can ask for a written receipt or consider paying through a method that provides a record, like check or bank transfer, to protect yourself.
I raised my tenants rent the 10 percent im allowed to and he started doing something strange. He is paying me 20 dollars more then that increase. Ive sent him letters and refunds so if this had been a mistake he knows better by now. I am becoming suspicious
Communicate directly with your tenant to clarify the situation and address any concerns. Transparency and open dialogue can help resolve misunderstandings.
My lease ended four months and I gotta four months worth to late charges and back rent. Cause we don't have a leaseback been paying rent on time paying all the rent and utilities every month on timenfor the pass 3 years. They told him itsnhis responsibility to sign one
It depends on the legal arrangements and agreements in place. Your brother's rights as a tenant and the laws regarding eviction in your area would determine whether he can be evicted.
It depends on the terms of the lease agreement. Some leases automatically convert to month-to-month after the initial term expires, while others require a new lease to be signed or may have specific renewal conditions. It's always a good idea to check the lease agreement or consult with the landlord to clarify the situation.
In my situation, Im subleasing so I'm not on the lease, I just rent a room but after 7 yrs. my r.mate tells me to be out in 3 days .. IMPOSSIBLE! I've always paid my rent but he recently had a female move in and they share a room, she's a complete nightmare and he mentioned this before and called it off. So now its back on where I have to move, out by 6/6/23 .. like I said IMPOSSIBLE!
Consider seeking legal advice promptly to understand your rights as a subtenant. It's essential to clarify your situation and explore options before taking any immediate action.
My daughter lives in pa She has lived there for years This year landlord didn’t issue contract and now wanting to evict my daughter Any rights for my daughter?
Without a new contract, her existing tenancy might continue on a month-to-month basis. She likely has tenant rights even without a new lease. Urgently seek legal advice or consult tenant rights resources to address the situation and prevent an unjust eviction.
What happens if there is no lease and the landlord was cited by city inspectors for renting an illegal room in a basement and the tenant is told they have to leave (without eviction) and the landlord wants to keep your security deposit?
No lease, landlord cited for illegal renting. Negotiate return of deposit citing the situation. Seek advice from tenant rights groups or legal help if necessary.
My landlord thinks she can enter my space when ever she feels also touching my personal things i keep telling her she has to give me a notice unless theres water damage or some type of hazard related issue and she basically tells me if i don't like it then leave, she is a nice lady so i have put up with it as long as I can but it has gotten to far she doesn't respect my space or my property, any advice on how to handle this difficult situation
definitely document everything. take pictures, get a security camera, etc. wish i could help more, that is part of what i am dealing with as well and not sure how to proceed. but definitely document! if you end up in court you'll have proof.
our landlord must respect your privacy and give proper notice before entering. Consider discussing your concerns calmly with her and reminding her of your rights as a tenant. If the issue persists, you may need to seek guidance from a tenant rights organization or legal counsel
Can you please explain to me on broker fee I called him telling him a friend of mines told me there’s a room available in the building I spoke to the landlord than he said I pay 2100 additional of brokers fee then told me to text a different number to text him on there and I did and said I have to 6300 security deposit , brokers fee , and first months rent all 2100 each come on ?!! That’s insane I’m willing to compromise but they asking for a lot I have a son and this don’t make any sense to me on why it cost so much for a 2 bedrooms
My land lord owes me $9000.00 and wants me to move out in 3 months. I told him I need my money before leaving so I can rent another place but they said they don’t have the money. I don’t want to escalate things because I have 15 years living here but what can I do living in NYC?
Wow, that's a tough situation. $9000 on top of finding a new place is a lot to handle. Luckily, there are some resources available in NYC to help! The NYC Bar Association has a free Housing Hotline www.nyc.gov/site/hra/help/legal-services-for-tenants.pagethat can give you advice on your rights and options, like potentially withholding rent or taking your landlord to small claims court. You could also try negotiating a payment plan with your landlord so you can get some money while staying put. Remember, 15 years of tenancy gives you some leverage. Be sure to document everything with emails, texts, or dated notes from conversations. Stay calm, be firm.
Afternoon sir, so I basically have a question living in the state of North Carolina. My girlfriend moved into a house with this lady. She is not the landlord her name is just on the lease. My girls been staying here for 56 months and she pay every month and have not missed a payment, so the lady that my girlfriend is staying with is getting upset because I have been here for three weeks due to me being sick and couldn’t go back to school so I’ve been staying with my girlfriend. Now the lady is getting upset with my girlfriend and she told her that I have three days to leave or she will call the cops with my lady first moved into this place. She asked if she could be on the lease with the other lady, but the other lady told my girlfriend that it’s OK so if that lady decides to call the cops on me, although my girlfriend pay rent here would I have to leave? My girlfriend is OK with me staying here
iIf your girlfriend is on the lease and has been consistently paying rent, she has legal rights as a tenant. However, as you're not named on the lease and the co-tenant has issues with your presence, there might be complications. While your girlfriend has the right to have guests, if the co-tenant calls the police, it could cause conflict. It's advisable to try and negotiate or seek legal advice to understand the specific tenant rights and the legal implications in this situation.
@@SlanepropertiesLLC just a follow up here everything went fine. We went down to the local sheriff department officer. Brian chief told me if my girl I’ve been staying there over six months she’s allowed to have whoever she wants there we show them payments of where we have been paying and everything is fine. Thank you for your help.
I have a question. I have been approved for an apartment in Virginia. Move in date is August 1st. The Landlord is requiring me to send them cashiers check security deposit the amount of 1st and last months rent immediately. But will not allow me to sign a lease until two days before I move in. What can I do to come to legal cover my self, and make sure that they cannot back back on renting me the apartment.
Ensure all terms, including the deposit and move-in date, are documented via email. Request a receipt for the cashier's check. Prioritize having a signed lease before sending any funds. This will protect your rights and the agreement terms.
What about when the people in your house are occupying it illegally and you never gave them permission to be there? If they were given permission to move in by someone who was supposed to be buying the property on monthly payments who then rented it out without your consent?
That's a complex situation. If someone is occupying your property without permission or through unauthorized rental agreements, legal action may be necessary. Consulting a real estate attorney would be advisable to understand your options and the steps to take in such a scenario.
It all panned out well. I let them know they did not have permission to occupy the property and that I would be filing an eviction notice if they weren't out in 30 days and they left without a crazy amount of damage being done. They did steal appliances and what not but the worthwhile ones were returned after the sheriff spoke with them. Lesson learned - Never sell a house on payments with minimal paperwork to family.
How about California been renting in a triplex for 20years my landlord passed had a only one signed lease over ten years ago and the grand kids are taking over and now they want to throw us out to raise the rent do I have any rights also my two sisters rent in the same thanks for any info you can sharetriplex one has been here 25 years the other has been here almost 30years tnone of us have ever missed or payed late on are rent
As a landlord in St. Louis, tenant rights can vary by state. In California, tenants often have protections even without a current lease. It's advisable to consult with a local tenants' rights organization or attorney who specializes in California rental laws to understand your options in this situation. Best wishes!
We live in California. We have an executed lease with our landlord. In spite of this , the landlord is attempting to raise our rent before our lease is up. She's threatened to kick us out if we don't pay the rent increase. This is illegal, right? Is it also considered landlord harassment?
If you have a signed lease, the landlord can't raise the rent until the lease term ends, except for specific reasons allowed by law. Threatening eviction for not paying an unauthorized rent increase could potentially be considered illegal and harassment. Seeking legal advice or contacting tenant rights organizations can help protect your rights in this situation.
Seeking advice from a legal professional or a tenant rights organization would be the best course of action for your situation. They can provide guidance and support based on the specifics of your case.
Only a landlord or someone legally representing the landlord can initiate eviction proceedings. If the person is not the landlord or legally authorized, their attempt to evict you might not be valid. Seek legal advice immediately to address this situation.
Hi i am paying 1650 plus utlites one bedroom basment in Scarborough and my landlord is not turn on the ac in the day and temperature is 31 feels like 40 They said we cannt afford high bill even though i am paying 30% They didn’t tell me before they not gonna turn on the ac
Landlords are generally required to provide habitable conditions. If AC is part of the agreement and it's not functioning, consider discussing the issue with your landlord or seeking advice from tenant rights organizations to address this matter.
My lease was up in February and he doesn't let his tenants sign a new lease he puts them on month to month. In March he went up $155 said it was because of taxes going up but he doesn't get bill for taxes till August. Then I had to have my kitchen floor fixed because a pipe was damaged in the wall now he is raising my rent again $100 to pay for the repairs not caused by me at all. Can he do this? I live in Charlotte NC
Thank you for your comment. It is understandable that you are concerned about the rent increase. It is important to know that in North Carolina, the terms of a lease must be followed, so you should check your lease to make sure that the landlord is following the terms. Additionally, the landlord is required to give you at least 30 days’ notice before increasing your rent. If the landlord is not following the terms of the lease or has not given you proper notice, then they may not be able to increase your rent. I would recommend speaking to an attorney who specializes in landlord/tenant law to ensure that your rights are protected.
Exactly! In Indiana, tenants without a lease still have key rights under state law, including the right to a safe and habitable living space, protection from unlawful eviction, and proper notice requirements for any changes or termination. Great point!
Hi Michael I live in Texas and right now I'm dealing with a slumlord I'm still rather new to all the laws. But my manager helped me find this place and it needs repairs my bedroom has been needing to be fixed for about a month now I cant stress how bad it is in condition and I told him countless times it needs to be fixed before black mold sets in but instead he basically told me to leave if I don't like it. How do I counter this?
Honestly, I would move...unlikely you're going to change the way someone manages their properties. If you love it there you could make the repairs yourself...but that is not your responsibility as a tenant...so...I would move.
what if you are short on the rent for one month, cani be evicted?I am renting a room in a house and there is no lease....I have been there for 3 months
Without a lease, you might be a month-to-month tenant. If you're short on rent, your landlord could ask you to leave with proper notice, depending on local laws. Talk openly with your landlord and seek advice from tenant advocacy groups or legal aid. Also, consider negotiating a payment plan to catch up on rent if possible. Good luck!
Hello, my lease is up and the landlord told us our rent will go up $200 unless we sign a new lease. Is that legal? To me it sounds like the landlord is pressuring us to sign a new lease by raising rent unless we sign the lease.
ive lived with my friend for 2 years in a house owned by his brother , unfortunatly my friend died now of course the brother wants me out , do have rights
If you didn't have a lease with the brother that owns the property and you didn't pay that brother rent you won't have much right to remain if he wants you out. If however you have history of paying him rent for staying there, then paying him rent would likely give you more rights to remain. I always recommend speaking directly with landlords and try and create a win win situation for both parties involved.
Present the receipts as evidence to prove that the rent was paid. Request a clear discussion or mediation to resolve any discrepancies in payment records.
I just paid my rent lastnight than this morning just got a 7 day notice I am in Florida I need help on trying to fight and win this also is it against the law to take money if your trying to kick then out
I live in Indiana. My rent is up to date. My AC isn't working so I messaged my landlord. The people were supposed to be here today at 2. However, the landlord along with the AC repair man showed up unannounced, opened the front door while my teenage daughter was walking to her room in a bra and pair of very short sleep shorts. Of course I was at work and had no idea any of this was happening until it was already done. That's upsetting in itself but when I called him after returning home from work to ask why the ac still wasn't working he told me he has now decided that he wants to sell my home and wants me out by Sept 1st because he no longer wants the financial burden of fixing things that go wrong. I have been here since March of 2021 and the lease was for 1 year. However, we had an agreement that I was going to reside here at least until May 2024 when my daughter graduates high-school. So basically all would be well if I wouldn't have said anything about the AC. I'm very upset over all of this as I'm sure anyone would be. What are my rights in this situation?
Regarding your lease and the landlords plan to sell. Unfortunately it sounds like your lease is up and if he asks you to leave you may have to. I would try and work something out with him if he is willing. Maybe you instead of a rent increase of having to move help with the cost of some of the repairs. If that is the current issue for landlord. HVAC's can be very costly to repair; as temps hit the 90s+ in our area we have a LOT of service calls for AC's.
Not a lawyer, but generally, if you've extended the terms or changed the terms of written document, those changes must be in writing. Sometimes called "4 corners doctrine". Either party can get out of a m2-m lease with just a month's notice.
Hi I gave this current tenant a 30 day to terminate her month to month rent. This tenant was very angry. I had a witness. Then the tenant and I didn’t sign any lease agreement. I made a mistake as a landlord by trusting the wrong realtor. I hired a lawyer. She wanted 4 months. I want her to move out by 4 months. She told me I agreed by a handshake. I wish I had my friend with me. As a witness. In case I signed up for an eviction lawyer to legally evict the tenant. She did pay me $950 month to month for a room. I don’t trust this tenant. This was not properly screened by the realtor. I am unhappy. I have to give her 4 months she must move out. 🙏
It's essential to adhere to the legal process in this situation. Since there was no signed lease agreement, it's advisable to work with the lawyer and follow the legal eviction process to ensure a proper and fair resolution.
I currently have lived with a friend temporarily for 3 months to help her afford her mortgage. I've been paying everything on time but due to personal differences I gave her 45 days notice and was supposed to be out by the 1st of October. I already paid all of September but she wants me out sooner. Can she lock me out when all of my belongings are in the home if I refuse to pay more for utilities?
My landlord wants me to sign "their" 30day move out notice, but I don't like what's been added to it. I always write out my own letter, that is still my right, correct? California.
Been living in an apartment for 8 yrs and I’m not on the lease. None of my roommates are on the lease but we pay rent every month. I’ve been paying rent under my name so they know I live here. Asked for them to clean the black mold in my roommates apartment 2 weeks ago and they have t done anything about it. Can I take them to court if my names not on the lease?
I'm not a lawyer, but you may want to seek legal advice. Generally, tenants, even if not on the lease, may have rights. Consult with a legal professional to understand your options regarding the black mold issue and potential legal actions.
I'm in NJ. Bought a house 11 years and allowed my father to rent my old house (3 bedrooms and parking) for $800 with no lease. In all these years, I've never raised rent but now need to due to cost of living, tax increase, and repairs. Can I prepare a monthly lease and raise rent to $1600 or would that increase be considered too high? I'm not trying to rip him off. I just can't do it anymore.
Hey there! It sounds like a tough spot. In NJ, you can definitely prepare a lease to formalize things. When raising rent, it's good to be fair-consider checking local rates to see if $1600 fits. Being open with your dad about the reasons can also help him understand your situation better. Hope it works out smoothly!
Hi, my landlord asked me to leave in 30 days because I asked him to follow the NYC regulations for heat. His argument was that I’m a problematic tenant because once in the past I asked for no yelling before 8:00 a.m. in a respectful conversation. He lives in the room next door. I have no lease and pay monthly. I was trying to move out of the country in two months, so it is very inconvenient to move at this point. What should I do to stay that extra month? Regarding the heat situation, he hasn’t started using the heat properly. He says he has it set to turn on when we go below 50F. But we’ve been in 44F several times with no heat. He can’t tell me to leave in 30 days for reasons like these, can he?
Call the Employment Housing dept saying they want to evict you for retaliation. Do everything in writing. Nothing verbal. These landlords don't evict drug dealers and other trouble tenants but wants to evict a tenant with good faith.
The landlord can't terminate your tenancy without proper notice or for reasons like requesting adherence to heating regulations. For the heat issue, it's the landlord's responsibility to provide adequate heating. Seek advice from a local tenant rights group or legal aid to understand your rights and options for staying the additional month.
I wouldn't unless they were problem tenants. If they pay rent I'd probably let them stay there. That is just me though. You can start an eviction though, consult an attorney and make sure you follow their advice on how to evict properly / legally. If you own in an entity they will probably have to do the work for you anyways but many charge reasonable flat rates for standard eviction.
@@SlanepropertiesLLC I appreciate the reply. I wasnt sure if there was some sort of special process. Unfortunately I have to evict so my family and self have a place to live.
@@DaeronMaxedOut Gotcha you bought to move in. If you are not familiar with it, I would call around to a few attorneys and get them to help. Usually they will do flat fee, its a pretty simple legal process but its a legal process...which means even if you act quickly it will still take some time. How much time depends on the state. Good Luck!
You send them notice to quit putting the reason why they need to move out after the notice to quit expired you start eviction process in court with the notice to quit attached to your lawsuit
I'm in rent stabilization apt and my landlord failed to send me a renewal lease for 5 years fighting in court which I won, now my question is the prior lease was not in my name, do I have to pay the rent on a lease I never signed?
My landlord tried to evict me, and it turned to a retaliatory eviction where she was in the wrong now she’s avoiding going to court and neglecting upkeep of the house e.g. smoke alarms water pressure clog toilet in the bathroom, ignoring my phone calls. Can I legally change my room to the room next-door that is up to code?
Seek legal advice as soon as possible. While your landlord's actions might warrant action, it's important to understand the legality of changing rooms before making any adjustments. A legal professional can guide you on your rights and the proper steps to take in this situation.
I have a friend who wants his 45 yr old son out of his house (owned by him and his wife). The son is violent and does drugs. The wife doesn't want him out but the husband does. He had to move out of his own home due to violent confrontations with son. He'd like to evict the son so he can move back into his own house safely. (California) Does he have a chance?
Given the situation, your friend may have legal grounds for eviction based on safety concerns. Consulting with an attorney experienced in California's tenant and eviction laws would be advisable for the safest and most effective course of action.
What if it's not a landlord and there was never a lease and you were never paying rent or expected to, my "husband" (we were never legally married) of 15 years moved us and our 3 kids into his dad's house, I've been a stay at home mom for 7 years. Suddenly my husband starts devaluing me and our relationship and wants me out. He no longer feels he is responsible for us in any way and refuses to help me and kids get out and on our feet, He got his dad who owns the house to sign a notice to quit against me and gave me the signed form. Now I'm questioning if it's legal and I dont fully understand what it even is. He told me it is an eviction, but no officials have signed it. Only my father in law. And I have been devastated by this. Idk what to do. Idk how he could do this to us. (Michigan)
I’m going through the exact same thing!! I’m in California and I’m being told that until the custody case is settled, I should stay on the property but now his dad is trying to build a false case to have me evicted! I was excluded from the lease and haven’t been required to pay any rent for the past 3 yrs. Since he told me stop working n order to stay home with our daughter when COVID hit But now he’s trying to say I owe 3 yrs of back rent!! We’ve lived here for 7 yrs now. I don’t know what to do!
I'm not a legal expert, but in a situation like this, it might be crucial to seek legal advice immediately. An eviction typically involves a legal process, and you may have rights even without a formal lease. Contact a local legal aid organization or a lawyer in Michigan who specializes in tenant rights to understand your options and protections. Your situation might involve complexities that require professional guidance.
My mother is currently going through this mess with her ex-boyfriend who isn't on the lease and never had a lease. he got served a 10 day notice to quit by a process server, he didn't leave so she then filed for eviction. But his attorney is stating how my mother was wrong for serving him a 10 day notice to quit how she should have served him a 90 day notice which I am confused about.
Thank you for your comment. As a landlord, it is important to make sure that all eviction notices are served correctly and in accordance with the law. I would recommend speaking to an attorney who specializes in landlord/tenant law to ensure that your mother is properly following the eviction process and that her rights are protected.
So as a tenant in a mobile home park how do I get the landlord to obey a Colorado State Statute saying that he has to maintain his trees so that I don’t get another limb on my roof or on me? He’s pissed because I brought it up and then complained about it and now is retaliating telling me to take my trailer and get out. He’s not a rational human being.
It sounds like a difficult situation. Your safety is crucial. Consider seeking advice from a tenant rights association or a legal professional specializing in landlord-tenant laws in Colorado. They can guide you on your rights and the steps you can take to address this issue while safeguarding your tenancy.
I took it to The Colorado mobile home oversight board, filed a complaint and 7 months later the tree is gone. The animosity remains. But he knows I’m not going to roll over and take his autocratic BS.
I always have a lease with tenants. If they tell me they will be late i usually wave the late fee because i don't want to see them struggle.
We usually waive the late fees to in depends on the situation .
Are you guys private landlords or property managers? Just curious.

May I ask what being listed as an occupant on the lease means?
a male landlord can kick u out because he rented to a female intending to try to hump in the future and realize she got a man so the landlord can revoke the lease over anything he can make up to find a different single mother with a man "single mother hunter" landlord
@@bg5097 it means exactly what it says.

I keep an audio recording of the verbal agreements, counts as a verbal lease in Ontario. And also learn how to file an A7 and submit affidavits yourself without legal counsel using the Ontario portal for the Kings Court.
That’s a great strategy! Keeping records of verbal agreements can be very helpful. Thanks for sharing that info about filing in Ontario!

Is very important to get Good 30-Day Notices when your Re-Certification is completed. It shows that you did your Re-Certification, in a timely matter.
NO. This did not happen as you state. 100% without doubt, your story is full of holes. Stop posting lies.

Thanks for the info! That's definitely how things work in Ohio.

Thank you Mike, the world is already better with people like you and I.... I liked and subscribed ; )

In some states without a lease or lease expire. You are at that point and a month to month Rent Agreement
True, in the absence of a lease or after its expiration, a month-to-month agreement often becomes the default arrangement in some states.
I had a friend in college who abused cash for keys. He would overstay every apartment and push it out until he got paid.
That sounds like a tricky situation. If you don’t have a formal lease, your rights might be different depending on local laws

I don't know Colorado laws, but I do know a notice not to renew is very different from an eviction. Just saying.

Our landlords told us ours expired over Easter, but last year we didn't sign it, nor did the landlord, til JUNE.

Hey Tonie, Sounds like an issue between 'friends' that need to work it out. The landlord and lease and the person on the lease is the one that ultimately get to decide. Just a heads up; If roommates are living there and not on the lease, the landlord may want everyone out.

Hello sir
I am in Winnipeg MB
We don’t have lease and security deposit even.
As a landlord we are really upset from our tannants.
They are misusing appliances at my home.
As a landlord what should we do ?
Firstly she denied to leave and now my talked to her husband they said ok once we got another place we will leave .
We gave them notice one month before.
They have more than a month to find another place
Please let me know what should I do ?
I will be very thankful to you
Since you gave them a one-month notice, they should leave as agreed. If they refuse, you may need to start the eviction process according to Manitoba’s laws. Make sure you keep records of everything and consult a local lawyer or tenant rights group for guidance on how to proceed.
Except in Washington State.
In Washington State I have to hire an attorney ($5500 retainer) and I will be lucky to have my house back in 1 year.
My opinion; Once attorneys are involved...no one wins...except the attorneys
Question ? One of my tenants wants to move out and are giving me a 30 day notice. Do they need to pay rent for the month ? No contract month to month
THANKS. I AM IN NEW YORK..

Can text message be considered as valid notice of eviction??plz ans if any knows
No. An eviction is a legal process they have to serve you papers.
Good question! In most cases, a text message alone is not considered a formal or legal notice of eviction. Eviction notices usually need to be in writing and delivered according to local laws, which can vary by state or country. Let me know if you need more details!

Because we have a daughter together I’m being advised to stay o n the property until the custody is settled but now he’s trying to have me evicted
What can I do??

That sounds like a very difficult situation. I understand that you want to protect your daughter and stay on the property until the custody is settled, but also want to avoid an eviction on your record. I would suggest talking to an attorney to discuss your options. They may be able to help you negotiate with your landlord and come to an agreement that is suitable for both parties. Best of luck!
What if they tell you it's ok to live there for free
I pay 1200 for rent cash in Hawaii but I think That he is rentor too and refused sign recipt
If the landlord is refusing to sign a receipt, that’s a red flag. It's important to get proof of payment, especially if you're paying in cash. You can ask for a written receipt or consider paying through a method that provides a record, like check or bank transfer, to protect yourself.
In California the tenants have more rights than the landlords.
My brother has been living with parents for 16 years. Dad passed, Mom is in nursing home. Can landlord evict my brother?
It depends on the legal arrangements and agreements in place. Your brother's rights as a tenant and the laws regarding eviction in your area would determine whether he can be evicted.
Lease expired? Doesn't it go month to month?
It depends on the terms of the lease agreement. Some leases automatically convert to month-to-month after the initial term expires, while others require a new lease to be signed or may have specific renewal conditions. It's always a good idea to check the lease agreement or consult with the landlord to clarify the situation.

What about appealing an eviction?
I need help 😅 would really appreciate some help in knowing what the best course of action is for my predicament. Thank you so much 😊❤
Seeking advice from a legal professional or a tenant rights organization would be the best course of action for your situation. They can provide guidance and support based on the specifics of your case.
I have a question..
Can another tenant pretending to be a landlords evict me? She is not the landlord but served me with a complaint and summon
Only a landlord or someone legally representing the landlord can initiate eviction proceedings. If the person is not the landlord or legally authorized, their attempt to evict you might not be valid. Seek legal advice immediately to address this situation.
@SlanepropertiesLLC it turned out that the person that was trying to evict me failed do to lack of paper work.. case got dismissed in 3 mins
In NY- If the home is owned the bank ready, can they collect rent, utilities or can they have the right to evict the tenant?
Hi i am paying 1650 plus utlites one bedroom basment in Scarborough and my landlord is not turn on the ac in the day and temperature is 31 feels like 40
They said we cannt afford high bill even though i am paying 30%
They didn’t tell me before they not gonna turn on the ac
Landlords are generally required to provide habitable conditions. If AC is part of the agreement and it's not functioning, consider discussing the issue with your landlord or seeking advice from tenant rights organizations to address this matter.
What happen if your son has a rental insurance and you didn’t know. You ask him to leave he doesn’t pay anything . Is there going to be a problem?
The same rights as a tenant with a lease in Indiana .
Less headaches with a contract
what if hes trying to say be did not pay rent and we did and we got recits showing we did pay
Stop posting lies
California.
Absolutely! You have the right to write your own notice. Just make sure it clearly states your intentions and follows California's laws.
Were in this world could you raise it so high,I think you need the money more than tax
Hey there! It sounds like a tough spot. In NJ, you can definitely prepare a lease to formalize things. When raising rent, it's good to be fair-consider checking local rates to see if $1600 fits. Being open with your dad about the reasons can also help him understand your situation better. Hope it works out smoothly!
I will love to ask you a question
Sure! Just ask questions and I'll answer it!
Thank u sir it’s been tough not knowing
Welcome!
Yes he can
Call the Employment Housing dept saying they want to evict you for retaliation. Do everything in writing. Nothing verbal. These landlords don't evict drug dealers and other trouble tenants but wants to evict a tenant with good faith.
Leave
The landlord can't terminate your tenancy without proper notice or for reasons like requesting adherence to heating regulations. For the heat issue, it's the landlord's responsibility to provide adequate heating. Seek advice from a local tenant rights group or legal aid to understand your rights and options for staying the additional month.
How would you evict tenants from a property you just bought
Consult a legal expert. Without a signed lease in your name, your obligations may differ. Get personalized advice to protect your rights
@@SlanepropertiesLLC oh ok , thanks for responding .
