I'm not fond of the new direction platinum editions are taking. In the past platinum editions were mostly the same figure as the standard release but with a different paint job or a slightly different sculpt. Now the platinum editions are completely different figures. The DKR platinum Catwoman should be a standard single release not a platinum edition af a Catwoman in a 2 pack. This is absolutely crazy!
However, one thing about McFarlanes female figures I'll say, the articulation should be the standard for all company's.... I'm looking at the new Jean Grey from Legends... with a static torso😅
I am thinking with the “parade” of movie figures collecting dust….. retail buyers weren’t too keen on picking this one up…. Heck…. The Batman’s Catwoman can be found EVERYWHERE for 10 bucks also those movie bikes ended up at Ross for cheap…. So prob why this was an “exclusive”
I live in Australia and was able to order this direct from Mcfarlane for a change. All up it cost me $130AUD inc shipping. Given a standard figure sells for $50 here and the fact that Amazon has it listed at $146AUD I'm happy. The figure is one of their best and the batpod looks great with so many other figures.
Given the exchange rate and the exorbitant postage rates to Australia, I'd say that's not too bad. It is a pity that the majority of the recent McFarlane figures never even made it out this far. Makes it all the worse seeing people on social media with multiples of figures we never got. Such is life!
@@hatandbeardmedia5925yeah it bums me out. I've never seen one store in the Netherlands having f.e. Aqualad. I've seen it in Thailand, but the store was closed😢
Would've been more worth it if the bike had movable parts, and accessories like hands for Batman and firing FX pieces for the canons. As is, I think it was priced based moreso on the value it brings to that line as a whole, rather than its standalone value.
If we keep buying whatever the price McFarlane is throwing at us... He will only increase it! We need to stand our ground to show McFarlane what the fair price is.
Yo child….. this is SOLD OUT….. most likely buyers didn’t pick this up as a ton of movie action figures end up collecting dust on clearance….. so with no “orders” ….. no large production runs…. Hence why you end up with exclusives….
Hathaway and Kravitz are the best Catwomen/Catwoman’s since Newmar. Pfeiffer’s performance is okay, but like with a lot of the changes Burton made in Batman Returns, she’s “Catwoman-in-Name (and costume) Only.”
I want the single-carded version of this figure, but it sounds like that’s going to be an impossibility given your allusions to that version’s popularity in terms of being “hard to come by.”
I don't recall it coming to quite that high when I bought it. Did you use the 10% discount code? Then again I don't know where you live, your taxes might be higher than mine.
$70 expensive? Here in Europe it's standard around $98 (€90- dollar/ euro currency) :/ I think we could be very happy if it's gonna cost us here $70 if it's on sale. Imo not worth it to me. I bought the noble collection batpod instead for $33 included shipping costs and tax inside europe. Plus it's metal too with some plastic parts.
My MAFEX Batman 6 inch and pod were expensive but work perfectly together (but separate from all my other 7 inch Batman figures from DC Multiverse on my Batman wall) I will display my McFarlane Bale standing beside Joker, Dent, Bane and Scarecrow, I dont need this inferior pod for my Bale figure, as for Catwoman I only like how it looks with the visor down, so If I got it for her, Visor down riding it ? that would be okay.... But I dont think it's worth the cost cuz in Canada it's hard to find anything in a store, so it's gonna cost me more online (eBay) than all you US collectors (Long time viewer, first time commenting) another good figure review.
Just got mine and I feel robbed. It looks good but the quality and feel are just cheap. They should've made the thin parts metal at least to avoid breakage.
I'll be honest, I don't have any interest in picking it up. It's just the Arkham Knight Batman I already have with a different paint job, so it feels like something I can save money on not getting and putting towards something new new. But we'll see, okay?
I know the The Dark Knight Rises isn't perfect but to me, Anne Hathaway is beautiful and cool as heck as Catwoman and Julia Newmar is my favorite Catwoman too because I really love their designs while being cat burglars instead of being supernatural like Catwoman from Batman Returns and from Halle Berry's Catwoman movie which I didn't like at all for Selina Kyle.
Preaching to the choir! Anne and Julie are my favorites as well, though I do love Michelle Pfeiffer. Like you said, the supernatural elements were a departure, but her performance and whip skills were on point
I just got one our Comic Con on clearance for *$30* with some negotiation . That should have been the price for it. It is a pretty basic bare bones vehicle. And the Catwoman figure is alright.. 🤨 it looks like Anne Hathaway hit by Homer Simpson's makeup gun
70 bucks for basically a 20 dollar figure and 25 buck vehicle is crazy… i have the platinum edition so i’ll pass, either way my plat edition has qc issues like the hair not being properly glued and her legs being chewed up by the crotch piece
Escalation of viewing...1 hey a new video..2 hmmm not a bad catwoman...3 is he gonna do it ? Is he gonna head swap with the other ?!? 4 damn it I might need to get her ? 5 hmm can I swap the head AND torso for the zipper down look ? Lol
If the leaks are to be believed, we are getting Lucius Fox with the Tumbler, so anything is possible. There was a Michael Caine Alfred in the Mattel Movie Masters series if I recall correctly. That said, the planned Michael Caine head was swapped for the Outsider when it came time for Mattel's Multiverse Alfred release, so there may be a likeness rights issue we don't know about.
I don’t really understand your scoring system. Seems like most of your reviews, figures are getting 4.something/5 A 4.4/5 seems like a good rating even though you said it’s not worth the money.
Thanks for reaching out. I hope I can clarify. Each category gets a 1-5 with 1 being Bad and 5 being Excellent. The final score is the average. In a situation like this, the sculpt, articulation, etc were all very good, but the question was whether it was good enough to justify the price compared to similarly priced DC Multiverse items like the Batmobile or Lobo and his Space Hog. Given that most Batcylces are 30 and most single figures are only 20, $70 for the set is a very steep price, despite it being well made. I hope that helps.
For playability, we are taking points away because Catwoman with Batpod did not include accessories for a figure (Batman) that is not mentioned on the packaging? Really? When are we going to review what we got instead of focusing on what we don't? When reviewing Price, McFarlane gives you a more accurate figure with great articulation (costs money), great texturing/tooling (costs money), extra drawer trash hands (tooling small parts like this costs money) ... everything collectors/reviewers have been crucifying McFarlane for lacking in the past .... so we complain about the price??? You know McFarlane is a business and needs to turn a profit to stay in business, right? No profits means no future offerings.
I appreciate your perspective and feedback. Re-watching that section of the video, I can absolutely see why it would appear that I docked points for not having accessories. A more accurate way of phrasing it would be that while the specific set is for Catwoman, it's primarily a Batman vehicle and for a lack of compatible hands, Batman himself can't use it properly. For perspective, precious McFarlane Batcycles (including both Pattinson ones and BTAS) have included the necessary pieces to make it compatible with their existing Batman figures, so I don't think it's completely unreasonable to hope that they would have done that here. That said, I did still give it a 4/5 for Playability, which is still a good, and even with my frustration over the price, the final score was still a very impressive 4.4/5, so I do feel that my review was still more positive than not. Especially regarding Presentation and Poseability. Regarding Price, I do see where you are coming from and understand that tooling is expensive, and that each joint and accessory means more tooling and a higher cost. That in of itself does not explain how an item like this is roughly as expensive as the Batmobile set or especially the Lobo and Space Hog set, so I don't think I can fully agree with you there, but I do hope I have at least explained my reasoning well enough. Thanks again for the feedback.
I'm close to giving up on this hobby. I love collecting figures and I'm not someone who hates on McFarlane products - some are better than others, obviously, but at the price point we're used to, I think they are among the best out there. BUT. Price hikes for no clear reason, or for any benefit to the consumer (where are the extras?), the questionable quality control that's okay at $20 is less so at $30+, distribution issues that mean a figure is sold out before it hits the shelves, so that your average Joe has no chance of picking them up? It's particularly galling if it's a BAF wave and you have 3 of the 4, with no prospect of completing it without going to some scalper on eBay. It might be better in the US, but it's pretty poor everywhere else as far as I can see. I have unfulfilled pre-orders going back months, where the figure is available at a premium the after sales market. Close. To. Giving. Up.
Like I said in the video, I'd be okay with $50. Figures are usually 20 and Batcycles are usually 30, so that's an acceptable range. There is nothing about this set that warrants another figure's worth of cost.
I'm not fond of the new direction platinum editions are taking. In the past platinum editions were mostly the same figure as the standard release but with a different paint job or a slightly different sculpt.
