If you haven't seen the "Magician's cut" music video for this song it's a lot of fun. I absolutely love Chappell Roan but she most definitely uses backing tracks here and in her live performances. Her sound is very synth-heavy, meaning she almost always has at least one keyboard part playing. She also uses a LOT of background and call/response vocals. In most of her live performances her band doesn't even pretend to be singing. I just chalk all this up to her wanting to get the best live sound possible for crowds that don't really care about the orchestration. She's certainly capable of doing all the vocals herself, in fact she probably did on the album. One performance of hers where it's all live is her Tiny desk concert when she added a cello, a violin, a keyboard player and a background singer.
