    You are so right! She is 100% going to be a generational talent. I really appreciated your comment on her all-female band and how little we see that nowadays (still!). She is currently writing her new album and she said she would like to explore a few other genres too when writing new songs - so that’s exciting! Looking forward to seeing you react to “Good Luck Babe” and her album! ❤️

    I agree I’m obsessed! I think she’s going to be as big as Taylor swift….her ability to connect, talent, voice, etc etc. she’s brought me hope for the future here in the USA bc it’s been rough the last decade

      Taylor does say "Try and come for my job" obviously no one can be Taylor other than Taylor but Chappell has the same quality of confessional writing and she's gonna give Taylor a run for her money. I'm so excited for the next few years in pop.

      I'm a music buff, chose to stick with cds, and have thousands now. Rock n roll and blues mostly, but I sample a wide range of stuff, including some of the explosion of 21st century pop girlies. (Also the Americana/roots/alt country women... Shelby Lynn, Brandi Carlile, Kacey Musgraves, Elle King, Maren Morris, Amanda Shires etc.) While I remain clueless about Taylor Swift's music, when Olivia's GUTS album came out with its near-rocknroll edge, I picked it up and like it alot.
      From my limited frame of reference early last year, my opinion became that when, someday, Taylor finally loses her crown to someone else, that it likely would be Olivia who will take it.
      Scratch that. I was wrong. I hadn't heard Chappell yet.

    Found her a couple years back when her music video for My Kink is Karma came out, and it’s been AMAZING to see her finally be seen as a total pop queen. I’m glad I got to catch her live back in February, because I probs won’t be able to afford to see her again. 😅 It was just before Good Luck Babe came out, which skyrocketed her career, but she performed it at that show so I felt like a lucky duck. 💖

    Go search Chappell Roan The Subway. It's a (fairly) new song and still great. Or go watch her live Lollapalooza set. She does that song during it.
    Oh... Olivia Rodrigo also has an all female band (and has had TWO #1 Albums). But Chappell opened for her and both share the same Producer (Dan Nigro), so clearly Nigro had the connections to hook both of them up with top tier female musicians (Rodrigo's band is just as top tier talent as Chappell's).
    If "Picture You" moved you, then "Kaliedioscope" will totally devestate you. It follows "Picture You" on the album and the one-two punch of the two of them together may have tears rolling down your face.

      Thank You for all of this - doesn't matter that it's been mentioned. I need repetition for things to sink in 👍😁 So if I'm a Chappell fan, I should like Olivia Rodrigo too? Which would be best tracks to start with?

    Olivia Rodrigo had all female musicians last I saw.
    Boygenius’ back up band was entirely female.
    Demi Lovato toured with an all female rock band a couple years back.
    Some of the most exciting rock bands creating buzz right now are all female
    The Last Dinner Party - UK
    The Warning - Mexico
    The Beaches - Canada
    The girls are breaking through 😎

    Her live singing ability and energy on stage and sense of "theatre". I'm a similar age to you and her recent set at Lollapalooza to a record crowd reminded me of Freddy Mercury"s Live Aid performance. She's not at his level yet but the closest I've seen since Gaga. I'm sure she'll be selling out stadiums very soon!

    I agree with you, but I would go even farther. I think she goes beyond once in a generation. Her voice is like the best I've ever heard of anyone and I've been listening to music for over 50 years. It's as you said, her voice is sublime. And then you add in her ability to belt and to do it all live so flawlessly. I always thought Freddie Mercury would never be matched, but my God. Of course, she's only beginning. So it's a little early to say that. But still... OMG.

    • @exchildgenius
      @exchildgenius  27 дней назад +3

      I can't remember what video it was but I say at one point - she's already one of the all-time greats - and it seemed absurd to say that as I've only just discovered her so I'm pleased you absolutely confirm this with your 50+ years music appreciation! She really is something very very special. Yes, up there with Freddie Mercury - wow! Excited to see her future ⭐️

    • @Wiley_Coyote
      @Wiley_Coyote Месяц назад +1

      I'm tempted to recommend doing Olivia in reverse order. Her second album is incredible. Her first album is merely above average. Her breakthrough song (Driver's License), on her first album but released before it (and hugely boosted her eventual album) is in my opinion, the least impressive thing she's done, although still better than most 17 year olds (her age at the time) could create. She's technically a Disney kid, but seems to have avoided that usual period where kids who work for Disney have a few awkward years transcending it to an adult career. Plus? She somehow managed to negotiate for complete ownership of her master recordings from the very start. Something no other female artist of her magnitude did before her. So SHE tells the record company what to do... not the other way around, like happens with most female artists.

    • @exchildgenius
      @exchildgenius  Месяц назад +1

      @@Wiley_Coyote wow that's really interested she achieved that ownership and control at such a young age. Thanks for all this info, I'm very intrigued to hear more. Will start with the second album. Thanks! ⭐

      UGH their full album (Prelude to Ecstasy) is just killer, and they did a couple VEVO lives in the same set up as Chappell Roan. Both have amazing stage presence, captivating voices, are theatrical, and some 80s elements but totally in a different way??
      Worthy of a dive and a full album look imo
