    To the 2.3 guys, this is intended for a 5.0 car but the process is largely the same, actually easier. The 3g alt will fit where your 2g or 1g alt is mounted at. You’ll definitely need to grind/clearance your existing power steering/alternator bracket like they show on the 5.0 bracket in the video.

    I've done this upgrade to my 87 convertible. It's not that hard. Even the notching of the old bracket wasn't too bad. It was the 130 amp alternator and aside from the 4 gauge wire coming loose one time and not charging I haven't had much problems with it. I did upgrade to a new radiator and electric fans and it wasn't working with all the acc. on. I did do that big three ground straps from the alt to the body the battery to the engine and the engine to the firewall and that cleared any bottle necks. It's charging and cooling like a champ right now. I haven't had it stuck in traffic in 100 f days yet. But I will know more later and maybe fans that move more air will be the answer. Right now I think the power system is ready for it.

      This might be a stupid question - but is it possible for me to add another alternator with my stock alternator in a 2009 V6 mustang? I bought a high output alternator for the audio system - do you think I have enough space for another alternator or enough space for a bigger bracket to hold both alternators - or do you think I should just change my stock out and put the high output alternator in alone?

    It took a few minutes to modify my alternator bracket it made a big difference my car idles a lot better I upgrade the distributor and coil with MSD I know it was pulling more amps 💪🏻💪🏻💪🏻 after the distributor was installed the car would stall out while idling the problems gone now I can feel a little bit better acceleration when I get into it

    thats a great money maker right there. instead of modifying the old alt bracket, which takes 5 minutes and reuses the factory tensioner and bolt, buy a complete kit.
    the labor and time it takes to modify a factory alt bracket on the vehicle is far far less than the labor and time of swapping alt brackets.

    Is it necessary to reuse the black and orange factory wires? Can I not just snip those off and run only the new 4 gauge power wire?

      Hi Daniel,
      This kit will only fit 1986-1993 5.0L & 5.8L Mustangs.

    • @jeffgriffith7003
      @jeffgriffith7003 2 года назад +3

      Actually it will also fit your 2.3, i just did the 130 amp conversion on my 91’ with a 2.3 turbo i swapped in. I reused my original 2.3 power steering bracket and had to grind away some aluminum but not much to make the 3g alternator fit. Now I’ve got plenty of power with all the fans and lights running.
      You’ll need less wiring since your alternator is closer to your battery than a 5.0 Mustang. Is.
      It’s really just as easy, if not easier to do than this video shows.

      @@frederickhairston3823 Sounds like you have a parasitic draw somewhere. With the negative battery cable disconnected, connect a DVOM (multi-meter) in series between the negative battery terminal and the negative battery cable. Pull each fuse and check the multi-meter to see if there was a change. -Landan
