100% agree with you on the detachable cable thing! I've had so many cables die or fray over the years and having a detachable cable not only extends the life of the peripheral, but also if you need to remove the keyboard for whatever reason; having a keyboard you can easily unplug without undoing all of your cable management saves you so much time!
Take proper care
Needed to get to know the keyboard before I buy it, this review has helped me so much, especially with the RGB section which answered all my questions according to my colour scheme.
Anyone else buy this keyboard and then watch the video? Feeling relieved lol
I bought the keyboard yesterday with reds and absolutely love it after previously having a HyperX alloy fps with cherry blue switches
Meeeeee I just bought it and I was so happyyy
I just love knowing what I bought was a good decision and hyping up my choice
Same😂
Lmao just saw this comment first and I’m watching it because I just got it

I really appreciate this review. Thank you so much. :)
Great Video! Really thorough and informative.
This was pretty nice video. Helped me make my mind. Thank you. Great job :)
great review, thanks for the work
love ur vids keep it up
Wow amazing video this really helped me on which keyboard to choose. Thank you
Thank you so much! For the review I’m totally buying this keyboard because it more cheaper and plus I don’t use the number pad thank you
THIS IS THE BEST KEYBOARD REVIEW I HAVE EVER SEEN. WELL DONE!!!
This is how you make a review - by showing every millimetre of the product and demonstrating its features not just talking about them.
EDIT: Alphabet letters are left-aligned to allow people who want/need to laser print a secondary layout to be able to fit the new letters on the right sight of the key caps.
Great review, thx!
Scroll lock useful as default accelerator key for TESmart KVM Switches.
Most lighted keyboards will have their legends an the top because that's where the light is typically located in Cherry style mechanical switches. The top left alignment of the legends date back to the late 70's and 80's when keycaps display the extended characters they can output. The keycaps are actually divided into 4 quadrants with the upper left for the primary character and the 3 remaining quadrants for the characters generated when the key is pressed with a modifier (i.e. Ctrl, Alt, Shift, Option). The characters are either special graphics character sets, symbols, or other extended character sets used to support non-English languages such as Spanish, Chinese, Japanese, Cyrillic, etc.
Makes sense
I was looking for a new keyboard to replace my Das KB and watched your video on the Corsair where you suggested this one instead. Checked out this video then and ordered the full-size Apex 7 with blue switches. I'm super happy with it, thank you and have a nice day 👍
I upgraded to this in cherry reds from a rubber dome office keyboard I was extremely happy with it
You did this review really good I might go get it right now😁
@@SwitchandClickOfficial ur welcome
Any issues with fitting other keycaps? Thought I'd read about fitment issues due to the switchs' LEDs interfering/sticking with thicker keycaps.
Thanks for your vids, have been watching a bunch recently!
Which switch is in this video? Sorry I might not have heard if you said it
USB pass-through, I would use it for a card reader dongle. In this past week, I got a Amazfit Verge Lite (Smartwatch) And a pair of Blue-Tooth earbuds a first for both things, and I'm pumped, gonna use them for work outs and hikes and the like! I'm just grateful this week for being motivated to stick to a diet, and get in shape w/ smartwatch, and blue-tooth earbuds, seriously! Oh, and that Tex-Mex well, I've been to San Antonio twice and, the Tex-Mex there is like no other! Always hunting down a good spot for anything like San Antonio's Tex-Mex!
Curious to see what lubed/filmed sound of this keyboard would be like. Already sounding damn good out of the box!
subbing before you reach 100k subs. I'm calling it.
Good videos it has been on my mind to get one but I was not sure what keyboard to get but your videos helped me decide what to get that I you

Hi there! Just planning to get my first ever tkl mech kb, do you have any recommendation? My current options are ALLOY ORIGINS CORE, G PRO X, HUNTSMAN V3, AND APEX 7 TKL. THANKS!
Hi, great review, though I noticed when you cycled through the colours that the white looked blueish and yellow is green. and orange was red. What is up with that ?
Yes!! Thanks I showed this to my parents, and they are thinking about getting it for me because they saw all the wonderful things it does. I don't think they would understand more than they did if we watched someone else with not such a peaceful voice.

Totally agree about the detachable usb-c. With that, I'd be really tempted to buy, but without it its a harder sell against some of the competitors which do have it
I'm literally sitting here not picking this keeb because it has a captured cable. Sorry, manufacturers, that isn't ok anymore.
@@ch0g0nda1 Same, I ended up getting a keychron k8, and then switching to a ducky shine 7, both of which have detachable type-c.
For cheaper keyboards, sure, a fixed cable is fine, but for high quality keyboards a fixed cable or micro-usb is a sign they just went with the cheapest possible route which yeh, is never a good sign
@@bigbodge why did you switch whats wrong with the k8?
@@adam-k7171 I do still use the k8, I just use it for work rather than my main keyboard.
I switched because I wanted the numpad back, it makes working in blender much easier and for some reason just prefer the form factor. But if I didnt need the numpad, I probably wouldnt have bothered
Hey could you help me out pls.
I have a steelseries mechanical keyboard apex m750 TKL, My problem is most of my keys are not responding ( i have to press multiple times) im thinking about replacing the switches.
I know i have to desolder them since i saw some footage, but i don't know what switch should i use? (that is compatible with it) and i heard it has a different pins than others.
Your review was the reason I bought this keyboard and honestly, like always, your review did not let me down, I have had this keyboard for over 1.5 years and dont regret the buy at all!
That's awesome!
I wouldn't of bought it without your amazing reviews
are you ever going to consider doing a live build with soldering, lubing, moding, etc...?
VERY useful video. a bit monotone, but it gets all the info i needed.
@@SwitchandClickOfficial no worries! The video was still very enjoyable and i watched through it without skipping! 9.5/10
I use the print screen button all the time as my Greenshot (screenshotting app) button. Super useful! any size (rectangle) of your screen straight to the clipboard.
It's a bit insane that they removed this key....
Wait so they removed the Print Screen key? How do we do screenshots with this keyboard then?
@@MrForshizel assign another key? 🤷♂️
Hi Betty,
Great evaluation video!
Although I am a full keyboard guy, the features on this TKL k/b had me interested. (I have the Steelseries Apex M500 k/b with linear red switches).
I liked the lighting setup and they have improved the cable routing on the underside; I also liked the magnetic wrist rest and the floating keys.
I have used all three keys (in order of most used)
Print screen - most used key mainly to get screen shots of what I am working on.
Scroll lock - next most used key - extremely useful in Microsoft Excel
Pause - have used it a long time ago - mainly to MS DOS
Sadly, although I am sure there are Tex Mex restaurants here in London, England; I haven't tried Tex Mex, but I will once we exit this current situation.
What dishes would you recommend I try?
@@SwitchandClickOfficial
Hi Betty,
thanks for those recommendations and letting me know of the Apex 7; I just saw an overview of it. Apparently it is available with a choice of 3 types of switches red, blue or brown. ruclips.net/video/Gv0DnxN6xHY/видео.html
Keep safe.
:-D
Does anyone have any views between Steelseries APEX 7 TKL vs Logitech G915 TKL? Deciding which one to purchase during Black Friday
Hi Betty,
Can you suggest to me some awesome Keyboard with the below features, really appreciate your help:
1. Mechanical
2. It should be able to connect at least 2 devices at the same time
3. Wireless
4. TKL
5. Tactile feeling
I know Keychron K8 fits in this category but do I have any other option?
I have the same keyboard and i have a little problem the F12 key and the ctrl key are not working anymore can i buy a new switches and replace them or not pls help me guys if someone knows how to solve this problem
How would you describe the way this board is mounted with the way the switches are risen above?
I need a keyboard for my MAC and I'm between Keychron K1 and Apex 7 TKL.
Im looking for a keyboard that the keys feels robust not flimsy. Do you
recommend any of these two?
Honestly best keyboard I’ve had 👏
Is the hotswappable
Switch and Click thank you
Hey i really want it is it really good?
Pov: u just had one keyboard
@@rareokay2625 its great
I got this today I swear the most buttery smooth switches ever like no rattle sound like lubed reds
I am gonna buy it tomorrow and use it on my xbox one until I get a pc
no the stabilisers suck on my keyboard (apex 7 tkl with red switches). Idk why
Because of your very well made review i bought this keyboard 😄👍 The keyboard is awesome, i love it.
Glad you like it!
what games do you play
Got this keyboard 2 weeks ago. Best keyboard iv ever had.
Hi, tq for your video, this one is what switch, red or blue?
Red
I use print screen all the time (screenshots your screen), and I've got a macro on Scroll lock to mute and unmute, so the light shows up when I'm muted
hey i really need your help
i cannot dicide to buy the mk750 of cooler master or this keyboard..
just beacus of the small wrist rest of the mk750.. she's even worth the comparison??
Does it have a ping or reverb when typing a bit more roughly. Also what is the acuation point on these switches
Custom
What's the cutout under the top left corner for?
Which brand is Steelseries using for their blue switches? Do they feel exactly the same as Cherry MX?
Could you do a review on the apex 5? I’m thinking of getting one!
Can i place third part profiles for the RGB colors? I have a Logitech and Corsair and I can import profiles from other developers
If you play Starcraft, the pause key is used to Pause the game when you get a pizza delivery mid game :)
OH OK BECAUSE I USE XERG TY TY TY
There's nothing wrong with my old Corsair K65 RGB keyboard, i just happen to need another one for my work PC for distancelearning. But gosh, this Apex 7 seems like the choice for me. Wrist rest too! RGB!
Great video. The letters are right alligned because the led lights cannot located in the middle because the switch heads are in middle. Cannot put light onto it. Only logitexh romerg mekanical keyboards have centeral lights and letter on keycap.
Can you put the PC clock on the display? I love having the clock on my logitech's screen to keep track of how long I am gaming but it needs replacing.
I actually haven't tried that
What switches would you recommend for gaming, is the cherry mx speed silver a good choice? Nice vid
Ok thank you, keep up the good vids
Left aligned letters irks me a bit too lol. My main issue is if the symbol characters are brightly illuminated because I've a corsair k65 tkl which I love overall, except the symbols are not brightly lit up and its hard to clearly make them out if my room is not completely dark.
Really good review but I am still thinking about if I get this or the glorious gmmk keyboard pls reply I need help
Buy the apex 7 it's got better build quality and the oled screen is cool. The rgb is way better and the switches aren't the fastest but a buttery smooth. In the future u could solder some other switches or just get the apex pro
You have to use the two usb cords?- I read somewhere that one of the usb cords is for the passthrough.
If you don‘t use the passtrough you don‘t need to plug in both usb cords
I have a question regarding the keyboard. It's because i just bought mine, and I love it, however there is something that triggers my ocd. Is your top arrow key also a bit higher then the rest of the arrowkeys ?
I noticed that, but I’ve had many keyboards and *all* of them have that sadly
Can you adjust the actuation on this keyboard with the software?
Do you prefer cherry mx browns or gateron browns?
I would love to know what i can do with this keeb to make it better, cause mine rattles like crazy and i hate it! I love it but i hate it.
It has the blue switches, and i like them but they make this annoying sound when they return after a key press.. It really sounds so cheap.. I have a Ducky mini with blue also and that makes a solid click sound witn no rattle at all..
I assume by Screenshot button you mean the PrintScreen key.
I use it a lot on a day to day basis either to just quickly capture and send an image of my screen. Either for tech support reasons or if I'm playing a game and don't wanna go through the trouble of screenshotting and bringing up the photo folder.
just use snip tool
Hi great video , does this keyboard work on ps4 as I’ve only got a ps4 atm and getting a pc for Christmas 😁
Yes it should be, it says it’s compatible with Xbox, PS4, and PC on the packaging. I personally love this keyboard!
I actually use the screenshot button for screenshots from time to time.
Pause and scroll lock i use for voice chat mute and deafen shortcuts or occasionally in Excel or the terminal for what they're originally used for
Great video but the keycaps can be change to the Razer Doubleshot PBT Keycap ?
Switch and Click thank you
Searching for something after razer back shit and roccat amo 121 mx keys and others.. is it the best typing keyboard?
I have watched most of your vidoes.. and want to know what is the best typing one...I am feeling mx keys actuation force is 60+ gram and not the best as many keep suggesting
I use print screen when I want to save my screen to the clipboard. Scroll lock and pause are kinda useless tho. There are a few situations niche where pause can work, but in the case of scroll lock any program that supports it usually has a more modernly intuitive way to trigger the same functionality.
Just use shift + windows + s to screen snip
I got this keyboard for my Birthday!
Can i macro one of the keys on the right side of the keyboard to prnt scrn?
Do u prefere full or tkl (half) keyboard
Great review! I love the detail and the timestamps to skip longer sections! If you had, say, $200 usd and had to buy a board in the next month or two (so nothing that isn't coming out till past the monthish or is unavailable till past the month), what would your ideal TKL be at that budget? I know you have some videos covering your favorites @ each price, but with your recent reviews or possible future reviews, would that change much?
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Awesome! Thanks for the reply. I've been looking at those for a while now, just unsure of the lack of function keys lol.
I just checked the Drop CTRL keyboard, and immediately thought "I have found my last keyboard!". BUT then I read the buyer reviews - wow soooo many customers have had such huge problems with these keyboards. Several buyers now say they have a 200 USD paper weight. BEWARE!
@@freedomfighter5222 Yup, two years later and I went through the same emotional experience as you. Drop would sell so many more keyboards if they had decent customer service. I cancelled my Drop CTRL order and got a Steelseries Apex 7 (brown switches) full sized keyboard instead.
Could you recommend apex 7 tkl or Razer blackwidow elite yellow switches because I can't decide they are both really good keyboards
@@SwitchandClickOfficial But razers yellow switches have a faster actuation point and has a longer key life span
@@SwitchandClickOfficial thanks for replying love your reviews
i bought this kb 3 days before watching this and those 3 keys are important i used to use those lke to play music stop the music and shutting my screen and this is the best kb i ever had
Can I program print screen onto insert key?
How to configure the media wheel 🤔
Does this have single key lighting ? Or zone lighting only? Would love to know since no one has mentioned this in the review
Single lighting
screenshot is really important for me cause some of my school work , so can we replace any key with prnt scrn
How does the feel compare to apex pro? Is it exactly the same?
Not as smooth, or fast, pretty much it. Really nice keyboard
I use Print screen all the time to take screen shots but I guess that function can be reassigned
Hi! If I would want to change the cable, could I? What type of port has not to the PC side but the keyboard itself? Thank you, nice review! :)
It's non detachable
@@SwitchandClickOfficial oh ok, and do you know if Apex Pro is? Also, what do you think of omnipoint switches? Steelseries claim to be the fastest in the world, plus they're actuation is adjustable per key
Love the vid. is this the same as the normal apex 7 but without the number pad or is there somethings different? :)
besides the number pad ofc
@@SwitchandClickOfficial ok, thank you. keep up the good vids
Would you still recommend this? I’m planning to pull the trigger on this keeb, but hesitant, I’m planning yo get the ducky or miya pro, but then again they don’t have the cool screen or arrow keys, neither do they have as good switches. Thanks! :)
Yeah, great for gaming
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Thanks Betty
Hello po okay din po ba yung blue switch? Thanks. Love your reviews
Hey, I've been watching all your videos one by one since past 3 days!! I need a new keyboard since my logitech g413 is double clicking and sometimes not registering at all.
Any form factor is fine for me. 60% to 100%, it's all good.
I was thinking rk61 with gateron milky yellow + durock plate mount stabilizers + royal kludge pbt pudding keycaps or hyperx pbt pudding keycaps.
OR
Suloong gk61 (mechanical) barebone kit (you made a video on it. $100 keyboard)
+ gateron milky yellow or cherry mx red + durock plate mount stabilizers + hyperx pudding pbt keycaps.
I don't need wireless and will use wire 100% of the time.
I can increase the budget A LOT but hotswap is a priority for me since I have like 5+ dead keyboards in my drawers and all are double clicking or not registering.
What is your recommendation? Whatever you'll say, I'll get it. I have no necessary preference and since you know better, I'll blindly trust your choice instead of mine.
Please help me out🙏
