I bought the version with brown keys. I love the low profile and short key travel. I was frankly surprised at how quiet the keyboard was - making it easy to use for video conferencing. The low profile keys also reduce strain on the wrists - reducing the risk of carpal tunnel syndrome compared to regular keyboards. I was surprised at how the low keyboard profile keys allow a similar hand-wrist orientation as the Microsoft Ergonomic keyboards, despite the Keychrone not being specifically an ergonomic keyboard. The one downside I found is the loss of the F15 key since this was replaced by the hardwired RGB Light Key. I would have preferred keeping the F15 key for macros while using a key combination to activate the RGB lighting combinations - particularly since I don't change RGB lighting selections that often. Note that all keyboards accumulate dust. And with standard keys, the dust and dirt is deeply embedded in the keyboard. But this keyboard's floating key design makes it very easy to pop the keys off and clean the keyboard. So the dust accumulation objection is actually non-existent on this keyboard compared to regular keyboards. Overall, this keyboard is also much much less expensive than other higher end keyboards. It is much more comfortable to use than Apple's magic keyboards. I love the tactile feedback of its mechanical design, its quietness. So I highly recommend the keyboard.
As a physician, from an ergonomics standpoint, you do not want to raise the back as it increases anterior wrist strain, which increases propensity for carpal tunnel syndrome. Similar to playing piano. Otherwise great review!

I think if you’re looking for low profile the better option is the Phantom L. It’s only $50 with flip up feet, full RGB, hot swappable, and you can put most keycaps on it.
I just found the solution for me that saved me from having to find a mechanical keyboard with a built-in or a detachable wrist rest to type and game comfortable. The Logitech G915 TKL. I would have tried this Keychron instead if I could get it in a nordic version (sweden), but a low profile mechanical keyboard just fits in perfect in the middle ground. So unless You love to do some some swapping of keycaps or switches and need a wrist rest but not really want to, this keyboard could be it for You :D Good review as always!

I returned the K1 v4 and bought a used v3. I really like the lower profile of the v3 and the flat keys. For someone who is coding all day long, that is very important. It is the happy medium between mechanical and low profile keyboards. I'm disappointed the v4 is more conventional but I understand that is what the gamers want.
How do you find v3 vs v4 in terms of keycap shape? I’m thinking of getting v4 since I’m used to apple keyboard. I can’t use the regular K2 since the key caps are small at 1,2mm, too many typos and fatigue on my wrists due to the height. I looked at v3 and visually they have flatter key caps which is what I prefer. I’m now in limbo choosing between those two.
@@peterming I like the flat key caps. Always have since the 1980’s. As a laptop use the transition back and forth is much easier and the low profile increases my WPM
It's unbelievable that they designed those stems like that. Did they say "Lets design a stem that is compatible with 0.000000000000001% of keycaps out there, are very flimsy, fiddly and makes all of the keycaps that do fit rattle around like a half full box of tic tacs"
@@drumdover the only problem is the existing switch for it because its hard to look for a replacement (if you dont want the original) of keycaps. It does not use the conventional switches with the (+) for keycaps
Missed the group buy on the V4 104key and can't find one anywhere unfortunately. So was able to pick up a slightly used v4 with red keys on eBay. Will give it a shot as I have been looking for a low profile mechanical and see if I like the reds vs. brown. Thanks for the in-depth review.
I like my K1V4 Brown, it does feel much better than the previous version. My only complaint is that they gotta figure out a way to improve the logistics. I waited a month or so before I received it after placing the order.
I have the same, but with blue switches and I'm very happy with it. It's actually my first mechanical keyboard and I'm just sad that there aren't any custom keycaps out there yet.
Switch and Click Yes, that is what I am finding. It was also my first mechanical keyboard so I didn’t make the most informed decision 🙈. I thought I wouldn’t want the “bump” coming from the MacBook Pro 2019 keyboard but found I wish it had it. But yeah it actuates too easily and I don’t know where in the travel it will actuate using my fingers. So I’m getting browns to feel when it types the letter.
It kinda didn’t impress when you held it next to the k6. I mean the board it mounts to is slim, but the switches stand above it substantially more than the k6 and overall they end up being the same height. Sounds pretty nice to me though
Hi, do you hear or experienced the problems that some users of this keyboard pointing has, for example: 1. Keyboard randomly types by itself sometimes, like "llllllllllllllllllll" or "aaaaaaaaaaaaa" etc. and 2. Issues with bluethooth connections. Got these errors from the comments of some customers in keychron official webpage.
@@SwitchandClickOfficial I hope they do! Before I settle for this one 😂 I'm almost sold and the price is very attractive. Have you played games on this keyboard? How's it like for that?
What type of keycap profile would you recommend for linear switches? I'm trying to go for SA profile cuz it looks good and I'm hoping it could give a more bassier 'thock' sound. Great video as always :)
Great review, thank you! Do you have plans to also review the K3? I wish there was an alternative option to also pair via dongle like in the logitech g915
@@NeveruN just a cheap ones in the chinesse convinience store from my block. .89cents ( they came in a pack of 4, only using 2). totally change the keyboard for me, cant imagine without it.
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Thanks! Maybe one day manufacturers will make replacing parts more accessible for those of use who do not want to get into soldering.
1) "can pair to 3 devices".. So can you switch easily between devices with a hotkey or something? (would be really nice) 2) it's illuminated mechanical keyboard that's wireless, which is pretty rare, however, you didn't bother to test the wireless part? :-(
I have this one with the blue switches and though the build and features are great, the keys are a huge let down IMO. They are not smooth as they bind quite a bit, similar to the brown ones apparently. Key feel is the most important thing in a keyboard and I am really disappointed. Wondering if the reds might have been smoother. Comparing these to the other 2 low profiles I used, the Kailh blues (on the Havit) and whatever is on LTC Nimbleback, are better. Especially the Kailh is a night and day difference. Kailh's also have a more crisp but less loud sound.
Thanks for the review! Do you have any feedback for gaming? For the K1V3, I found that it was essentially unusable for gaming. If you could provide your thoughts on this, it would be much appreciated!
@@OsirisPL I believe she is referring to the potential input lag. I am using the k2 model for gaming and office. It hasn't been an issue for me but I have noticed the lag from time to time. For reference, I play COD and DOTA.
Thank you for your very informative video. Would you recommend the blue or brown switches for someone who does a a lot of writing? I do like the clicky sound, so long as it’s not too clicky.
I know that this Video is a Year old by now, but I figured I'll ask anyway: I'm a huge sucker for low profile Keyboards. My first one was a Sharkoon Typewriter with blue Kailh Switches (Don't hit me. I did actually enjoy it.) And I now switched to a fnatic streak65 with speed silvers, since i was looking for a 65% low profile keyboard for AGES and I'm really happy with it. Now what I wanted to ask. Before I found this Video I was convinced that low profile Mechanical Keyboards are just a rarity and also impossible to build. You can find Switches. Sure. Most Boards should support them. Sure. You can even get fairly flat cases. No Problem. But here come my 2 biggest problems of the past years. I can't find any cool Keycaps like these. You know? the flat ones, like on the K1v4 for example. And even If I find any, there's a second problem: I'm from Germany. So I need a completely different Layout. I guess It's called "ISO - DE" if I'm not wrong. I would LOVE to build my own custom Keyboards. And it certainly *is possible* but i feel like the selection is very very slim. And my favorite style of keyboard is just impossible to build. Unless you can prove me wrong?
It's almost keyboard that I want. But it's not truly wireless. Bluetooth is just not so fast as dedicated 2.4GHz dongle. So it not for gamers or programmers. Seems like the only option in the whole world is Logitech g915 TKL.

@@119Agent I guess I have to find a used v3 then. It even looks better with the all black keys! Thanks for the info!
Where u get a used one? Isnt both k1 and k3 low profile same height?
V3 do u mean k3 or k1 v3, is there a k1v3?
Best review channel keep it up
I believe this can be my main keyboard. Maybe I'll wait the v5, but definitely a low profile
I tried a low profile at a store these days and man i really want one. I’ll probably wait for when I upgrade from my laptop to a desktop.
Negative tilt / angle is better for your wrists and forearm repetitive strain issues.
It's unbelievable that they designed those stems like that. Did they say "Lets design a stem that is compatible with 0.000000000000001% of keycaps out there, are very flimsy, fiddly and makes all of the keycaps that do fit rattle around like a half full box of tic tacs"
new subscriber, bought the K1 after watching this
Hope you enjoy it!
How do you like it so far? I was thinking about buying one.
@@drumdover the only problem is the existing switch for it because its hard to look for a replacement (if you dont want the original) of keycaps. It does not use the conventional switches with the (+) for keycaps
love your reviews 👍
You should put the 10% link before the keyboard link. I almost missed it the 10% off. Thanks!
How does it affect your wrists? Great video!
Got mine today! I must say the build quality is awesome. But I'm missing 1 ALT keycap in the box! came with an extra Del keycap instead.
I like my K1V4 Brown, it does feel much better than the previous version. My only complaint is that they gotta figure out a way to improve the logistics. I waited a month or so before I received it after placing the order.
I would totally get one of those but not having a 2.4Ghz connection is a total deal breaker
Ur so underated.
I like to keep a low profile
How does this compare to the v5? Is the bluetooth usable and consistent for gaming?
2:05 behind you!
FYI a lot of the models are currently out of stock. I have emailed keychron and getting ETA's on some of the models shortly
Amazon is also selling them.
I had the k1 v3. The key caps were absoluetely flat and horrible to type on, but these key caps look slightly curved so im sure this is much better
I like the curve! It feels like it's cusping the fingertips just a little.
I have the same, but with blue switches and I'm very happy with it. It's actually my first mechanical keyboard and I'm just sad that there aren't any custom keycaps out there yet.
They use Gateron switches right? Were you able to find key caps for those, I think MX compatible caps work with Gaterons.
Just remembered it has low profile caps and you can’t really find those. Nvm then.
Nice video! I have this keyboard with red switches and I really wish I had gotten browns
Switch and Click the letter doesn’t type out until you feel the bump correct?
Switch and Click Thanks!
It's a winner to me!
Great video! Could you please review the version 5?
It kinda didn’t impress when you held it next to the k6. I mean the board it mounts to is slim, but the switches stand above it substantially more than the k6 and overall they end up being the same height. Sounds pretty nice to me though
OMG U REVIEWED IT
team gateron blue reporting in. I love this keyboard
Got these errors from the comments of some customers in keychron official webpage.
i used a laptop riser. worked perfect for me 😇😍🥰
If they make this a 65%, it's gonna blow out!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial I hope they do! Before I settle for this one 😂 I'm almost sold and the price is very attractive. Have you played games on this keyboard? How's it like for that?
@@SwitchandClickOfficial great, I'm planning on using it plugged in all the time anyway so it's good to know it does the job. Thanks!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial this was very on point, they're releasing the K3 (75% layout) ... I guess I'll wait for that 😂
It looks nice but I'm not really into low profile, nice vid 👍
What type of keycap profile would you recommend for linear switches? I'm trying to go for SA profile cuz it looks good and I'm hoping it could give a more bassier 'thock' sound. Great video as always :)
It's also a nice TKL for Macs so that's another reason. The K4 I have is a little cramped for me as far as key layout.
Great review, thank you! Do you have plans to also review the K3?
I wish there was an alternative option to also pair via dongle like in the logitech g915
@@SwitchandClickOfficial looking forward to it! Looking for something wireless to replace my DasKeyboard
I have this one in RGB. I love it. Just bought some adhesive silicon pop ups for the back and now is perfect.
What silicon pop ups did you get?
@@NeveruN just a cheap ones in the chinesse convinience store from my block. .89cents ( they came in a pack of 4, only using 2). totally change the keyboard for me, cant imagine without it.
I wonder if keyboard batteries can be replaced after they reach end of life? Great video!
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Thanks! Maybe one day manufacturers will make replacing parts more accessible for those of use who do not want to get into soldering.
Finally got mine after it was sold out for 8+ months.
The USB cable is now braided.
I really wish they had made one 60%!
That will unbelievably portable for working on the go
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Thanks for the video! Do you know roughly when the low profile K6 might be released? I wasn't able to find any info about it
1) "can pair to 3 devices".. So can you switch easily between devices with a hotkey or something? (would be really nice)
2) it's illuminated mechanical keyboard that's wireless, which is pretty rare, however, you didn't bother to test the wireless part? :-(
@@SwitchandClickOfficial Thanks!
Hi MrDecator, I'm considering this keyboard with blue switches. could you please explain what you mean by "they bind.."
Thanks!
@@vkoemar In short: they are not smooth to press and the keys feel sticky or crunchy.
Hi there !!! Great review!!!
Between the K1v4 and the Logitech G915 tkl? Which one would you recommend, regardless the price?
Tks!!!
Thanks for the review! Do you have any feedback for gaming? For the K1V3, I found that it was essentially unusable for gaming. If you could provide your thoughts on this, it would be much appreciated!
Why was it unusable for gaming?
@@OsirisPL I believe she is referring to the potential input lag. I am using the k2 model for gaming and office. It hasn't been an issue for me but I have noticed the lag from time to time. For reference, I play COD and DOTA.
Thank you for your very informative video. Would you recommend the blue or brown switches for someone who does a a lot of writing? I do like the clicky sound, so long as it’s not too clicky.
brown for sure
You need to enter the code on the keyboard for the first time when pairing it, that's how Bluetooth security works 😅
I know that this Video is a Year old by now, but I figured I'll ask anyway:
I'm a huge sucker for low profile Keyboards. My first one was a Sharkoon Typewriter with blue Kailh Switches (Don't hit me. I did actually enjoy it.)
And I now switched to a fnatic streak65 with speed silvers, since i was looking for a 65% low profile keyboard for AGES and I'm really happy with it.
@CARLG1 yes. The price of proper wireless without noticeable delay. I hope manufacturers will provide us with more similar options in near future.
Could you tell me what cable you used at 14:22 to charge the keyboard?
Would love to see a review of the IKBC W200 wireless. I just ordered it on Amazon with silent reds.
