im one of the folks that very much prefer the scrappy wasteland look, i appreciate going out of your comfort zone a bit for this variety even if this one's a pain to build around, keep it up =]
Well worth the full watch for the spawn point information alone. I bought the full game with DLC during COVID, but I never had time while working. 2 strokes later, retired. I have time now. Your videos contain a balance of build tips, aesthetics, and strategy I find perfect for my playstyle. THANK YOU! 😊
For one of my Oberland builds, I started at the upper edge of the southern slope and built a deck straight out to the northern edge, width was from the east edge to just shy of the tracks. That then gave me a nice flat surface to build on. At the north end, it was high enough above the ground that I was able to put the medical clinic under there. The old railway tower building became the offices for my caravan and administration. I like what you did with this.
Honestly, I'd say you did better with this settlement than I ever have. Oberland's build area is so constricting and the terrain elevation changes so rapidly that it's hard to do _anything_ with the settlement.
Much more developed and comfy than I've ever made my Oberland Station. I tend to imagine it as a place where people just squat in the rail cars for local scavenging and farming. So a handful of rail cars as buildings, the station building, and the central field the place starts with. I never build up the kind of coherent fortifications you have here.
This is so cool, I've built this settlement probably 5 times and never thought of anything like this. really makes it look like an actual settlement you would stumble upon
Fimally, the cargo train settlement you've talked for some time ago. Very nice, I'd love to steal it for my settlements 🏃💨💨💨 Some suggestions: 1. You could create a separator with a cupboard between two halves of the cargo to create the illusion of having two room in one cargo 2. Putting powered door behind or in front of the gates 3. Giving a neon sign to show the entrance 4. Lowering the power armor showcase platform or making it higher, because currently your enemy could hide below the platform and your turrent can't shoots them
I’ve struggled with Oberland station every single time I’ve tried to build there. I always end up with some weird tower or just abandon the site. This is a really good build. I like it stays on the train theme and how you utilized the limited build area. I will be using this as inspiration for my next time building there. Thank you.
This is a great build. I had an idea for building a row, maybe a double row, of shops along the railroad tracks to house shops for the settlement. I was just having some issues with figuring out how I wanted to arrange them. This gives me renewed thoughts in how to accomplish that in a future build at Oberland.
I loved it. I think you did great keeping the train car theme. Also really enjoying the content. Been a min since I've seen anyone showing off settlement builds. ❤🤘🇺🇲
A few suggestions on improving settler happiness. You could add a slot machine or two, to me there does seem to be some space, you could use in some of the train cars. To do that, one train car could be doubled up with settlers. Second suggestion is, add some cats and dogs.
For your build I think I'd add a walkway to the power armor stand from the walls. I have done the scrappy build and outdoor vaulttec rooms considering how close it is to the vault and how much mote metal and such 81 personnel have after the curie quest.
Neat. I think "scrappy" works for what you might call "outposts." Any colonies or trading posts or guard-towers, things of that sort, working as extensions of some larger main group's power and influence, can justify a look that's perhaps more ramshackle than an older, larger, more permanent settlement.
I've never built anything interesting at this settlement. This is quite neat. I am also plesasantly surprised with the almost absolute absence of concrete :)
Some places I like scrappy wasteland, some places I like clean. I like your Oberland and your Marina the best so far. Making me wanna get back into fallout
Most areas are scrappy in the fallout universe because there isn't the infrastructure for large scale construction for example the roads aren't in any state for trucks or cement mixers. In my opinion this settlement could have done with one or two orange box cars to break up the monotony of the blue box cars.
OH someone who also does a hacienda build for this expletive hole of a build site. Mine is smaller I don't cross the tracks or go in the hole for the main build but i do build a tower of power in the hole water and power on the bottom beds on the second level roof big guns and a sky bridge into the roof of the compound with my only way in being a outside staircase on the tower that is under my turrets guns
The thing that annoys me more about this settlement is that if you build stores sometimes the settlers you assign there won't get to their post, won't talk to you; they just give the generic settler speech, which prevents you from buying stuff. If memory serves, this also happens at Taffington Boathouse and Hangman's Alley.
Sadly, the unofficial patch breaks almost as much as it fixes. One example being several quests won't progress until after you've slept in a bed for several days, or completed a different quest first, certain areas of Boston are so laggy as to be almost unplayable, and one area, Monsigneur Plaze causes CTD's. @@michaelproctor8100
I wanted to make this my settlement for my survival because it is kinda in the center of the map, but i ended up building in egret marina tours because I wanted to make water purifier.
Absolutely wasting those rail cars’ space and ability to house a lot more beds, generate a lot more happiness and use the space available. I also used rail cars there and have 30 settlers with more space available and 100% happiness. It is a challenging area for sure, but I can’t believe you have a huge rail car with ONE bed and all that wasted space. So much potential for more.
I built an awesome settlement at Oberland Station, like built to the maximum and it had all sorts of good stuff. Then I realized people need beds 😂 I had to take down my deathclaw enclosure so I had room 😢
I’ve built it a few times and always have a large and small cages, with ample bed space for 30 settlers and 100% happiness. I see a lot of people including this RUclipsr waste tons of space
I really like this. I have a love/hate relationship with settlements, apparently. I love that I can do them; hate that (inb4 "use mods", and no, I'm trying to get achieves and am a purist for a first PT) I can't do everything I want with them. Also that I apparently need to play the actual game /snort. I am going to shamelessly copy this one (and yes, i completely agree with you that the worldbuilding of "still people not caring about mess 200 years later is a bit... hm. Crap. It's crap. I am trying to headcanon that there's still this constant state of war cycle that means people just don't have the time/energy/feeling of safety needed in the pyramid of needs and haven't for the last 100 years to do anything other than subsist--which is I guess what the FO worldbuilders were going for, but it's... ugh). Thank you for the videos, again (yes, I am working my way through them all!)

I like it. Different from your usual builds in a good way.

I always move the crops to the side to have a good place to start

I'm definitely replicating this! Your concrete builds don't bother me, but I love seeing different styles to give me different ideas.

Good inspiration.
Could never do anything with this one . Pretty cool

there's actually quite a lot of concrete at this build site, but the point is well taken.
@@Theegreygaming I was kidding btw. Everybody has their favorite style. I build everything in wood and barn.
@@belisaurusgaming6192 I know, I get comments about the amount of concrete my average builds use on a fairly regular basis. I just roll with them. :)

Neat concept. Could you just cover the clipping with some bushes on the lower side and maybe some old advertising on the taller side.
I try and keep things as vanilla as possible, so there aren't any bushes available, other than potted plants and christmas trees. but I like the idea.

Do the provisioners get inside such walled off settlement, or maybe they don't need to? How does that work even?
I actually don't have a provisioner to this site, but at another railcar/bus wall build site, I've seen them use the rail car door to enter and exit.
Lol I love building here. I just D it up with turrets and metal shacks 😵

how do you gain access to the railway buildings?
Only came to oberland staion for the crashed space craft

Yes, but how did you build all that? I though it was an instruction thing for noobs.
I turned it into a small fortress defending Grey Garden. Because I put in more thought into worldbuilding than Bethesda.
