Glad ya liked it Capt. Dave! see the ole bass fisherman knows some salty stuff too lol. Side note should be taking my off shore boat out to see how she is running thursday.
Great how to Been making my own for about 6 months now and many time only guy on the beach catching fish. I do a 3 hook set up with yellow green floats and red beads on the top 2, bead on the bottom. I am in NC and the same rig works for puppy drums, Whiting, baby blues and trout.
It's odd how I made and posted a video about this for the coast of NC and then boom I see a bunch of suggested videos on the same topic haha, cool to see how you do it differently than me. One of the things I'll do is put a float on the top and not one on the bottom or vise versa. Great video man!
Thank you very much, and like every fisherman im always learning so thank you for sharing! and its odd I was just showing a friend this video that was acting about surf rigs today lol
This was a great video..with fantastic tips...Being a soon newly retired guy by the beach and have not been serious fishing for last 25 years...what great tips and help in tying quality rigs that catch fish and saving money along the way...Big win! would love to see it in action with the type of rod and reel you use as well....Thanks!
So, the surf is a little rough and I know the fish are way out there. I want to use a 4/5oz sinker to hold bottom and get some extra distance. How do I keep the rig from snapping if I put some oomph into the cast?
This and your other DIY knot/rig video are very helpful! Any difference/reason why you did two overhand knots on each hook section of the pompano rig in the other video but just one overhand knot on this one?
when the loops are longer I tie a knot in the middle to keep it from opening up so much, when they are short you really dont have to! Very happy to hear you checked out both videos!
So I'm new to the ocean and surf fishing and I have to ask...what are the beads/ floats for? Are the absolutely necessary? What if I tied the rig the exact same way but without the beads/floats? If you mentioned it then I must've missed it.
Hey James! They just add color and in the floats case motion to draw the fish`s attention in dirtier water like we have here in north FL. I have caught a many a fish without them though for sure!! you dont have to use them. I just do when im targeting pompano in the surf, they like bright colors, but you can catch them without.
Great tips! I tie my own rigs but after watching this I think I'm making life too hard for myself. I tie a bunch of rigs for the season but I had a forehead slap moment when you explained using a long leader and just working your way up. You're just tying 1 leader at a time. Do you have any issues with casting your uni-uni through the guides? I like your system a lot better than what I've been doing. Thank you for this!
No problem! glad I could help ya think out side the box lol. To answer your question no I have never had a problem with the knot going threw the eyes of the rod. Let me know how every thing works out for ya
Man great video, just some advice to help with your videos. you should think about getting a mike to record your talking, it would help out big time with the echoing in the room.
Nice easy way to make these rigs. Thank you
I liked the tip on the looping the pyramid weight without any hardware, good tip! Thanks!
It's good to know how to tie rigs no store on the ⛱️
My point exactly!! 😉
Super helpful won't be buying any more rigs now I know how to make them
That's awesome to hear!! Glad I could help you out!
Great video thanks I subed
Thank you very much!!
Yes that is a good knot surgeons loop knot I use this knot on most of my rigs
Good deal 👍
Very helpful video. I like the simplicity of it! there's a lot to be said , for keeping things simple and straight forward. Great job.
Thank you very much!! glad you enjoyed it
informative video with good close ups of the knots

No problem Stan glad you liked it and you found it useful!
Never really target pompano..but definitely make my own chicken rigs for everything, I use anchor weights with no7ncircle hooks ☮️
nice! yea been doing it for a long time first time really using spider weights though
Where are the googan baits?!
at Tim Kidwell`s house!
Went out yesterday, surf was rough but landed a whiting. Do a lot of my fishing over on Cumberland. But now I'm new to this Amelia surf fishing.
I hope to be fishing off Amelia island soon myself now that the have opened the beaches back up
Joe, Great video ! I've not done enough surf fishing to ever come up with this rig on my own. Thanks, for all the great info.
No problem Mike I hoped the video helped you out!

Are you using flourocarbon leader line or is that just flourocarbon fishing line?
Just floro fishing line works just as good, get way more of it for the same price
I tried them on a couple of times but it had a hard time with getting the sinker wires to come lose
yea its a pain, but they are on there until the end of the day atleast

you would have to up your leader size for sure to some thing heavier

Fishing beads are good but if your on a budget craft store plastic beads are way cheaper. 150 for $4
yea then you can get what ever color you want, I just used what i had on hand
