I also bought some of the metal rigs the first year I came down to the Gulf. Main reason was I had no idea what I was going to catch and figured I'd better go heavy. Now I know better - I make my own with mono. Thanks for the video.
Yes ! We are in the same camp on bottom (light surf) rigs! 25-40lb. mainline,#6 or #4 E.C. snelled, long shank, 1/4" chunks of peeled shrimp, LETS GO! 🌴🐟💯
I’ve been making pompano floats out of discarded wine corks and red plastic beads. 40 lbs main line, 25 lbs snood snelled to a 1/0 circle hook. Works like a charm.
I have subscribed as I really like your channel! Hope it grows for you! I saw and commented on your FishGum Fishbites comparison video your boys are adorable. I’m getting two more grandsons this May. Hopefully everything goes well. I raised two daughters. I make my own rigs using painted hooks and colored weights and various small hook floats. They work well and are much cheaper. I used the same hook as that Tsunami rig for years but now I use circle hooks. I wish Sally’s rigs were sold up here in NC. I have a problem with social media like Facebook, etc. and just don’t use them. I liked your analysis. We have to use heavier tackle up here in NC than you do in the Gulf. Great video!
Hey Brad, I watch all of your videos. I did not realize you were a Vols fan. I live in Tennessee, but travel in Alabama. They are not fond of Orange!! Love your videos.
I do like to tie my own rigs as well. Especially when using ghost shrimp. I just wanted to do a video to show a few options that can be bought for those that don’t want to tie their own rigs.
Excellent video! I have tried tying me own pomp rigs and using Walmart specials. I caught more Crocker and small whiting with the Walmart special. Good to know I need to buy some local rigs when I get to the surf!
Me and my daughter will be coming to gulf shores on the 18th and 19th. We would love to be able to meet up with you. We plan on trying the gulf shore pier and maybe the surf.
😁😂🤣😃great save Brad, dont know if I would have blocked it with my body but glad you were able to save the fish for supper. as always thanks for the show, entertaining, informative, and enjoyed.
When you say you are going to bleed it out, what do you mean? I clean the fish when I’m done fishing. You think it makes a big difference? I’m just getting into surf fishing.
To bleed the fish, you just need to cut the gills. This will help get the blood line out of the filet. It’s not really necessary for all fish. Fish like pompano and whiting are not very bloody, however I have bled some pompano and the meat is even whiter. If you’re keeping spanish mackerel or bluefish, you will want to bleed them. They have a big blood line and it will make the meat much less fishy. Hope that helps!
What rod and size do you use for beach fishing? I have a battle 4000 setup for the river but I’ve been trying to hook up on a pompano at the beach. Figured I could just get a beach rod and transfer my reel over when I go
I love your videos Brad, but just damn. Is there really a need to label people "googans" that may not have the funds or may be ignorant of what is best to use just to make yourselves feel superior? It makes you sound like an elitist snob.

Thanks for the video.
That is very common. There’s a big learning curve when new to surf fishing. I went through it as well!

Are you the Gary Anderson from Nolensville?
@@garywarren2856 No, from Fairview. Close.
Do you know Bill Buttrey? Used to teach at Fairview. I had him in elementary school.
@@garywarren2856 Yes, know him well. He was teaching when I was in school.

Have you tried out the SnJ rigs?
Also, go DAWGS! *I couldn't resist*

That’s where this was! They’re definitely here!
Great vid brother. Can you show how to bleed out a fish in another instructional vid? Appreciate it!
@Justin Bradburn appreciate it brother.
Lol googan rig cracked me up everytime you said it for some reason.
😂
😁😂🤣😃great save Brad, dont know if I would have blocked it with my body but glad you were able to save the fish for supper. as always thanks for the show, entertaining, informative, and enjoyed.
It was cold, but worth it! 😂

Nice save on the runaway pompano!!! Haha
Can’t believe he didn’t get away!
ai watch all you vs like them where did you get those rod holders or did you make them??
I got them here locally in Gulf Shores. Power Beach Manufacturing. You can find them on Facebook.
What rod and size do you use for beach fishing? I have a battle 4000 setup for the river but I’ve been trying to hook up on a pompano at the beach. Figured I could just get a beach rod and transfer my reel over when I go
I really like the 10’ Star Stellar Surf Rods.
Nice video....what size hooks did u use
Size 1 circle hooks
I guess it is still warm enough to jump in the water. Looking forward to eating some fish soon.
Water was definitely warmer than the air temp. But it was cold when I got out!
How long of a leader to you recommend using for pompano rigs?
How long does the fall papano run last
Usually till end of November. Still catch some in December. Just watch water temps. When we get the mid-low 60s it’ll be about the end of that.
Pointing at his poles gets a huge bite. 4:50
😳
Go Vols.
Go big 🍊
Do you bleed all your fish or only pompanos ?
Usually everything
First two rigs: I can tie that, probably cheaper and better.
Third rig: GAH! BURN IT WITH FIRE!
Those Walmart rigs are best for river fishing for catfish!!
When you say Walmart special googan setup, are you talking about Googan Squad?
Haha not quite. Just search Urban Dictionary for Googan. Googan Squad just made a brand around that which took off!
Go vols

Those "Walmart Specials" aren't pompano rigs, those are regular two arm leaders.
That was some funny shit
Gator lake
But they delight in the law of the Lord,
meditating on it day and night.
Brad use the kick method....you don't get as wet.....lol.
Couldn't find salty fishing products
A 5 dollar rig catches expensive fish while the dollar rig catches bait. Seems like a deal unless you like eating catfish.

Haha definitely not used to feel superior. People get offended by too much these days. MAGA!
