This knife is old school, it’s simplistic and practical. That is what makes it one of the best knives I’ve see fabricated in quite a while. Excellent choice of materials. Will last many generations when properly maintained. Great Job Jake
Классно! Очень интересно и ненавязчиво показано изготовление ножа из рессорной пружины! Приятно было посмотреть! Спасибо автору за интересное видео! :)
3 things to say : 1- You are awesome bro ! 2-Thanks for showing you do not need expensive tools to make an amazing job 3-Thank you for playing that music in the video, every time I will work on my knives I will play music like that so I can enjoy more working on my knives
Great video..proves u DON'T need a 1000$ hay Budden anvil and a 300$ custom made ball n peen hammer and expensive steel . This knife WILL do all ( normal)task a knife should do
Hey Jake, Just saw my 1st several videos from you. You have a great amount of talent. Not only that but maybe even more important is a fantastic imagination and an eye for combining materials. Really enjoy the vids. Would like to see a serrated bread knife from the pipe wrench. Was a chef. Loved the pipe wrench handle. Keep up the great work and imagination brother.
Excellent video, something I have always wanted to do but I have no work shop or knife maker to tutor me in the skill. You do make it look easy but your ease underlines many years of skilled learning and experience. If you were in the UK I would book myself in for instruction to make a knife under your tutelage.
Awesome. You've probably only heard that a few tens of thousands of times, but nonetheless, very impressive. Nice video, great editing, amazing design and unreal quality slash craftsmanship.
I see in some comments below about the shit anvil you use well people that just goes to show how talented JAKE is so if you need a 3000 dollar anvil fancy tongs and hammers and forge just ask DAD'y
Very nice show from a skillful man! I enjoyed watching it. Thanks for sharing it with us. What kind of hardness could you achieve after heat treating the blade?
Nice vid. I've read that the coating on these springs are very toxic if you burn them off and can remain in your forge a while after the burn. I also picked up some springs from my local scrap yard but was too concerned to remove the coating. For my own interest did you check this or have i read wrong? Thanks
Theres not too much information but i just wanted to be safe ruclips.net/video/f-972JcIiig/видео.html @ 2:46 www.iforgeiron.com/topic/9834-removing-the-coating-from-coil-spring/
Matthew M. Mine will be an aso. Im just a hobby knife maker... i just need something flat and heavy for now.. unfortunately most of my time is spent at work... but i have fun at it... thanks for t he advice.. 👍👍👍👍👍

Jake's Custom Knives so great
You have all the tools!!!! That 🔪 is mad 🔪
Super work. From a spiral to a top knife to create congratulation
I like the blade design a lot. For me, I would like a smaller guard. Maybe grind it down a touch. But the blade is perfect.....ya!
Nice job as always 5160 makes superb knives ! I use it and like the fact it is a very forgiving steel when it comes to heat treating .

Very slick design. I gave up testing sharpness on my arms, after a while there was just too many bald patches.
I have had a couple people ask what is wrong with my arms when I have had like 50% plus bald patches lol.
11:15 Oh my Cat..!!! 😻 I love your pets 😆😂

Awesome. American craftsmanship at its best.
Great job.. You're a master 💪
That big guard will be a big problem when you use the knive to cut something on the cutting board. I prefer smaller guard.

Jaketastic!

Good job. The guard is a bit big but it turned out nice. I'd be interested to see how it performs in a stress test.
It is fantastic craftsmanship for preparing the knife from just scrap spring hard steel . Bravo the who prepaired

That's not the guard that's staying there is it? Cause it looks totally chunky and out of place.
Agreed, it looks awful.

Is that one of those Harbor Freight anvils?
nice work
This man said he was happy to be back three years ago and hasn’t made a video since
Very very good
Nice knife, please make a scandinavian knife
Genius.
what do you recommend quenching coil spring blades in?
muito bom
How does steel like this, coming from a leaf or a coil spring, compare with 1095 flat stock?
Fan of you buddy
Saw you harden it, but not temper if afterwards? Very nice btw!
Good working
Amazing
Why did you drill so many holes? And not just the 2 that held the handle?
keith stone I think to make it lighter.. It was a metal brick before all those holes
how come yo no coolant when drilling?
I think it's to balance the knife..
