I'll have to admit, that is one hell of a job brother!! I want to try to make my own bowie knife sometime in the near future. But again, amazing job bro!!!
That sword could be so heavy to wield due to its thickness and that handle is uncomfortable when the sword hit a harder object. Nice looking blade though. Overall, it will KEAL!
I gotta admit... as a knifemaker, i was ready to call bullshit based on the thumbnail. This surprised me. Dedicated work. Especially difficult on 52100 and esp a thick-walled race. By hand. With a 5lb sledge. With minimal, underpowered tools. Props. 👊 If youre still pursuing the craft, lmk. I may be able to gift some materials or supplies. I still make knives, but only really rare occasions that i get odd custom design requests or do a small series run.

Idk why so many of comments are negative. Its just a decorative piece. Yall act like he's making a documentary on how true swords are made for battle or something lmao. He made this for the entertainment of youtube. The only battle this sword will ever see in its life is dealing with the mean comments from key board professionals 😂😂
I may be wrong but didn't look hot enough to be tempered correctly. You might want to buy tempering files. They will tell you what level by scraping the metal
The steel he used is extremely hard as is. Doesn’t need to be as hot as other steels to achieve the same harness and this thing will still probably shatter if it was actually getting used.
I'm not a sword snob. I can't tell you what makes a sword a "good" sword. But, yours looks cool and it's sharp. In my opinion, that makes it a good sword. Nice job.
To make a good sword, you need at least two types of steel with different amounts of carbon in them, one for the spine and one for the edge, otherwise, you have a brittle sword. You also need it to be solid and without cool-looking holes, which make the sword even more brittle. And you need it to be sharp enough that it cuts through flesh and bones, not just water bottles. A sharp katana cuts through many pieces of bamboo in one masterful swing. All in all, this is in no way a good sword, but it is a cool-looking toy.
I know nothing about making good weapons, but there is a problem with the all videos like these - after forging, people don't test the weapons for durability. And we know why - because tests targets to finding the point when the weapon breaks. It would be the best way to proove the quality, but it will make the videos strange - "today i'll make a sword to break it"
I'm not a blacksmith, I do really like how this came out. Only gripe is the handle being full metal with some light wrapping. A softer wood handle would feel better.
Shame you didn't do a differential heat treatment. Bearings are usually made out of high carbon and chromium steel, which means you can make it very hard. Hard blades hold edge better, staying sharp for much longer, but are more brittle and prone to damage than softer steel. Which is why some blades- most notably Katanas- are differentially hardened. You get blade with exceptionally hard edge and much softer spine- traditional Katanas go even a step further and are made out of multiple different kinds of steel (high carbon edge, medium carbon sides, low carbon or even straight up iron core)- which prevents potential cracks from spreading and damaging the whole blade or even breaking it in half in most extreme cases. You get the benefit of extremely hard edge without having to worry about the whole blade breaking.
Wow👀I watched a video of a guy making a mosaic sword......I'm still not 100 % sure how he did it I always knew forging was a skill..but the more I look into it the more complex it seams to be Really super cool
I've always wanted a samurai sword, but I want one that's made in Japan the traditional way. They're incredibly expensive so it's not likely it will ever happen.😂
There's a guy in Oregon that was trained by the masters in Japan. The only powered item in his shop is the overhead light. He does all his smithing in the traditional ways. $10,000... 6 months and you to can own a 'real' samurai sword. His name is Michael Bell. Compare that to $100,000 and 2.5 years...

Man, I gotta say, your forging process is clean! 10/10! But why no hilt design but just the wrap, or even a scabbard for such a futuristic sword?🤔 Still an amazing job, though. Blacksmiths have their reasons, I guess. Great forge!
You only really need a hilt on a stabby weapon , to protect your hand from sliding forward onto the blade . And maybe block a little bit of the other person's sword from hitting your hand .
ベアリングは刃物にも使える高炭素鋼が使われていることが多いらしいので、実用的でかっこいいこの作品は素晴らしい。
Sure is cool to forge your own sword

You don't need to be sword expert to understand this is junk...
@@user-lr3dt4me5j It's only junk if it fails in battle. I highly doubt it will ever see battle. It will most likely be used for decoration.

Too bad about the holes on the blade being misaligned. (Not the same size/not in a straight line) other than that, it's a masterpiece.
