Hi Kim, Thanks for you comment. I am assuming your asking about the call transfer. This feature should work with any call you receive via Google Voice. Bear in mind these features are within Google Voice for G Suite only. The business version of G Suite. Not the consumer Google voice available in the US. - Fintan
I know text messaging is available for numbers in the US only. We do not have that here in Europe. I can see the value for business's but I think the difficulty of finding sms providers in each country makes it challenging for Google to provide the solution globally. I didn't realise it was not available on the auto attendant number but then it makes sense as it is not linked with a user. - Fintan
Damson Cloud Thank you, you do a great job . We have a cloud service in our office and somehow text comes to a number. I feel pretty confident they can assign a number. Getting them to do it is another matter. The hunt group is a big move forward . Be safe..
Hi there, Have a look at the link below and see if it helps. support.google.com/a/answer/9229433?hl=en Alternatively, you may have a Google Voice "Starter" plan if the ring groups option is not showing up. I want to thank you for this. My MAJOR question is, can you take a call on Google Voice and put other calls on hold without having to leave the original line you’re on, if you have multiple people calling into your business at once?
Hi, Yes you can answer multiple calls using the app on your mobile and the web interface. I have taken a call while on another and placed one person on hold. You can easily switch between them as well. - Fintan
You will only see the transfer option when you receive a call and if you are on the BUSINESS edition of Google Voice which is part of Google Workspace (G Suite). If you are using Google Voice consumer edition this will not be available as a feature. - Fintan
Can you do a video demo on how to add a Google Voice shortcut to the Google Apps shortcuts in the Google Chrome browser, and also, to Gmail interface? Thanks
Quick question. Im here in the USA. Lets say you and I are speaking on the phone using google voice. Then we want to call a friend and get him in on our conversation, is it possible to put you on hold call the other person and when he answers the phone bring you back in from being on hold so all 3 of us can talk on the same call?
Great question, unfortunately this feature is not available yet. You can transfer a call to someone and put them on hold but you can not have a conference call yet. This might be possible with one of the Poly phones as the phone could handle the conference as opposed to the platform but it will depend on the specific phone and its features. I hope this helps. - Fintan
Is there any API in the foreseeable future? I'd be thrilled to connect it with Zapier. That's probably the only thing keeping me from switching over to it.
Yeah that would be a welcomed improvement. At the moment there is no API but google continue to improve the product and differentiate it from others in the market. Based on their other applications I can imagine this is a direction they may consider in the future. - Fintan
Once Google Voice is active on your account it will appear in the sidebar on the right hand side for you. You should not have to do anything to activate it. You can hide the gmail sidebar as well if you want. - Fintan

Hi Ethan. Google Hangouts is being deprecated and that has started with the removal of calling features. Google are moving to Google Chat for chat communications and Google Voice is now a stand alone solution for calling. Hope that helps! - Charlotte

Thank you for this. Maybe I haven't found the video or proper words to search for. Does this exist? Did you do a video on it? I have a Samsung galaxy note 10 i think :/
Hi Jo, If you want the callers name to appear on the screen for you, then you need to have them saved in your Google Contacts. If you want your name to appear on their screen when you call, then they have to have you saved in their Google Contacts. For the ringtone, on the Google Voice app go: Menu > Settings > Sync & Notifications > Select Ringtone And voila! Pick your GVoice ringtone! Does this answer your question? -Charlotte
One of the problems with simultaneous ringing with google voice that we are having is that if someone in the group is out of the area or the phone is turned off the call will go directly to that persons voicemail. It would be preferred if a person had to hit a prompt to actually receive/answer the call while other phones continue to ring to ensure a live person answers the call.
Yes, right now Google Voice's some of the very business requirements features are about on par or I should say less than PBX systems developed 25 years ago. I took them years to develop call transfer, you can only imagine it'll take about a decade to get proper hunt group implemented. That is unless management closes Google voice due to lack of marketplace adaptation. Seems like mid level management is completely out of touch with reality, not just in google voice dev but in many of their projects, not to mention the discombobulated department of customer service.
I think you may be confusing the consumer google voice and the business google voice. The consumer one came from a company they bought a decade or so ago. This was never developed as you mentioned. Google voice for business only lunched let year and has had incredible levels of development in that time. The google voice team are working with small, medium and large companies to work out their requirements and build them into the solutions. We are also seeing greater integrations with other parts of g suite such as google meet and gmail. We have customers with 100’s employees who are now utilising google voice as their telephony solution. Incidentally ring groups or hunt groups just launched fully today. gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com/2020/08/ring-groups-google-voice.html?m=1
I have never tested it with a Raspberry PI. If you can log into your gmail account on an RPI4 then you can access google voice in the web browser. I don't see any additional benefit to this. - Fintan
I am not sure which google news are more exciting, announcement & demo from their Quantum computer department or Google voice's -> 'You can now transfer calls!'. OMG that's exciting. Glad to see their billion dollar budgets are used to develop things at such a rapid rate.
Do sense a hint of sarcasm 😁 I agree it’s very basic but that’s kind of the joke. That Google release a product like google voice that has cool features other systems don’t like built in call spam filtering, access on any device etc but you can do something basic like transfer a call! But hey we only had to wait an entire year for them to bring it out 😉 - Fintan

Damson, thank you for the video. I have the same comment as James. I also saw your reply in the comments. Are you saying that this issue is fixed in the business google voice, or just that there is more development than "IM DB" was aware of? This is a major issue for me and my team and it will eventually cause us to find a new solution if this issue hasn't been resolved.
Thanks for the comment Nathan. Fintan here from Damson Cloud. We have not seen the issue that James is referring to (it saying it doesn’t exist just haven’t seen it). We have been using ring groups ourselves for several months since BETA launch but our calls ring simultaneously on all users in the ring group. If no one answers the call it goes to the Ring Group mailbox. Which you can set who gets notified. I would be interested to know what your exact settings are and what issue you are seeing, as it’s a new feature I would expect at least some teething issues. - Fintan.
@@Damsoncloud I just heard today that ring groups was available so I was looking into it. We haven't been using it yet. We've just linked 6 cell phones to our Google Voice account, and so the system rings through to all of our phones simultaneously. We've been using it this way for about a year now. I'm not sure the exact date we started it up. We use Iphones and if one of those phones is out of signal or off it automatically "picks up" and sends that call to their cellphone's voicemail not to the Google Voicemail. This issue sometimes happens while the phones are on and in service areas. I'm thinking that it is because of "Do Not Disturb" settings being on, but I don't think the phones are supposed to send those calls directly to voicemail. Right now we're not sure why it's happening, but James comments at least confirmed for me that it's an issue. Let me know if I can help with more details.
@@Damsoncloud Hi, I'm trying to get ring groups set up and CANNOT get it to ring to the 2 member phones simultaneously. I have the ring group set up, have it set to simultaneous call routing, and it is still only ringing to one phone. Is there a step I'm missing?
Hey Jessi, are there any other diversions in place for that number that are disrupting the ring groups? If the two users are in the ring group and you don’t have that number used anywhere else then it should work. Go through and check all your settings. Also make sure the user not receiving calls is signed into google voice and the account is functioning correctly for them. I have seen this happen when people have connection issues on the WiFi or 3/4G - Fintan

Are there any plans to allow texting from the ring group numbers?

How can I edit google voice settings to show GOOGLE VOICE CALLING on the caller id for all incoming calls forwarded to mobile numbers?
