I replaced the maple syrup with honey and the coconut oil with butter (because that's what I had at hand) and added a tiiiiiiiiiiiny amount of salt and powdered instant coffee and I haven't been able to stop making it. 4/6 eggs from the crate are gone.

This was good! I subbed peanut butter for the coconut oil and to make it vegan, I subbed one tablespoon of chia seeds mixed with two tablespoons of water for the egg. It was really good. Thank you!
When I tell you that this is the best thing since cake!!. I didn't have any maple syrup so I used honey and I also swapped out the coconut oil for Ghee . Microwaved it for 1 minute 20 seconds. Finally, I turned it upside down onto a plate then placed a 60% Dark chocolate square from Giharadell and the heat from the cake melts it so beautifully. I'm sold! I just started the Paleo diet and this will come in handy.

Other mug cake recipes i have tried tasted bitter and rubbery. this is very satisfying and I don't feel like i'm overindulging or being deprived. I only had 3/4 spn of maple syrup left so i added a lil agave nectar to equal 2 tablespoons since thats what i had on hand. also added a 1/2 tspn mini carob chips for crunch. thank you!

I’ve made this twice and it’s delicious! I over cooked the first one. Cut the microwave time in half and second one was more moist. I used some vegetable oil because I didn’t have coconut oil. I also added just a few mini chocolate chips.

I made this, and I was impressed with the texture, but it didn't taste good. It was not sweet enough.. perhaps some coconut sugar would make it good. :) and some healthy chocolate chips. I had to add sliced bananas on top to make it taste better.
I don't know how many comments I scrolled passed to find yours. I thought exactly the same things as you -- that the cake had a good texture but wasn't sweet enough at all, and that was with me using five tablespoons of almond flour and only one tablespoon of chocolate powder (actually chocolate mixed with coffee). The next time I make this, I am going to do three tablespoons of sugar-free syrup plus an extra tablespoon of powdered Splenda. That should double the sweetness while keeping the wet/dry ratios roughly the same.
This recipe was meant specifically for the microwave, but I do have other chocolate dessert recipes on my website that use the oven. So make sure to check those out! :)

You can substitute the egg for a Flaxmeal egg to make it Vegan and also Apple Sauce. 1 Tbsp of Flaxmeal and 2 Tbsp of water let it sit for 2 min

Maybe u can use 2 Tablespoon of ground flaxseeds, and 2 T. Of almond flour? Add a T of almond milk ? If the batter seems too thick?
