      @MikeBanom  8 месяцев назад

      @@KAMRAN_KHAN1 I think it depends on what you want to do with video. Funny enough since I got the Heipi, I've pretty much used it as the main tripod for all my videos on this channel. So if its just a stationary tripod, no issues. If you want panning, obviously there is lever arm to move the tripod so it wouldnt be great for that! I have filmed panning shots on this tripod though, and its pretty smooth! Hope this helps. I'm def in the market for a video head for a tripod, just didnt get there yet.

      @KAMRAN_KHAN1 8 месяцев назад +1

      Thanks that really helps. So I could purchase a separate video head and use it on this of I wanted right? I like this because I needed a compact light weight one I can carry on the side of my backpack

    • @MikeBanom
      @MikeBanom  8 месяцев назад +1

      @@KAMRAN_KHAN1 Yep! It's all standard attachments, so you can screw the head right off and screw on a video head! Click the link in the description of this video, and scroll down to the section 'Pro-level Removable Ball Head'. You'll see the ball head as it exists alone. If you do purchase the tripod, purchasing via the link above helps me a little bit too if you'd be so kind!

      From what I've researched, this will be a pretty significant upgrade over the peak due to the ball head being much larger and stronger, and of course including the mini tripod. When you come to NYC to visit, I will let you give it a shot!

    Excellently reviewed. I'm into landscape photography and specialising in panoramic shots. I do fell walking and am no spring chicken so weight is a major factor. This impressed me that it's so light and yet has a very considerable load bearing capability. That has the additional advantage that you can add weights/sand bags evven when using heavy kit. Thanks and I have subscribed.

      As a powerlifter, i never thought weight of a tripod was a big deal. If i'm going to be walking around with a backpack and tripod for hours, it always isnt 'fun' to carry. But after using this tripod, i ate those words! Ha.

      Thanks so much for taking the time to leave a comment. I'm glad the video was helpful. I think the biggest flaw in the Ulanzi and Peak tripods are the small ball component in the ballhead. It's a bit finicky of a design and I believe it doesn't allow for as much weight. My vote is heipi, but def report back with what you get and what you think!

      @MikeBanom  9 месяцев назад +1

      I have yet to try the peak. But the fact that you need to raise the center element up to use it is a bit of a turn off to me. $600 is insane for the ballhead they use on the peak.

      @justinreels 9 месяцев назад

      @@MikeBanom agreed! The only reason I’m considering it is because it dropped to $420 this week, but that’s around the same price as the Heipi - or can get the Ulanzi fully loaded for only $302 as well.

    Could i use a L bracket with the Heipi tripod? My L bracket is about 1-2mm wider than the peak design plate. Looks like there is zero adjustment with the Heipi's plate retention system.

    • @MikeBanom

      I can't really confirm this because I dont use an L bracket. I believe this is a standard tripod plate. And it doesnt really let you adjust it wider. So I want to say no.

    Hi! Do you think I can use the sub tripod as a kind of gimbal or something to hold my camera? I do a lot of tripod stable shots for interviews on the street, but I also take hand-held shots moving around and walking with people. I would love to go faster from tripod shots to hand-held shots, do you think this versatile 3 in 1 tripod could be useful for that purpose? Can you test it?

    • @MikeBanom
      @MikeBanom  10 месяцев назад

      Personally I wouldnt do that. The subtripod has a bit of flex to it - the legs arent as thick. so it sounds a bit iffy to me. It would most likely work. But think of it like using a hollow tube as a gimbal / rod. Not ideal.

    And u didn't have any issues using it with the 110mm? Even in wind? I'm surprised, cause my peak design travel tripod cannot handle the weight and it's shaky as hell.

    • @MikeBanom
      @MikeBanom  Год назад +1

      I havent road tested this for months, but I was pretty impressed. The ball in the ballhead is very large. The Peak Design is super small. I'm assuming the larger the ball, the stronger it is. I have never used the peak design, so I cant comment on that.

  • @StewartsRootBeer
    @StewartsRootBeer Год назад +1

    Are you sure the ballhead screw in the tripod is 1/4" and not 3/8"? I have a Heipi coming, and I ordered a ballhead with a 3/8" threaded socket thinking that would be the appropriate thread size and pitch, to match most other tripods on the market. Could you double-check that and let me know?

    • @MikeBanom
      @MikeBanom  Год назад

      Sorry just seeing this! You're correct, I mispoke on this. On their tripod campaign, you can see it says the ball head screws onto the tripod with a 3/8th screw. www.indiegogo.com/projects/heipi-the-most-compact-3-in-1-travel-tripod#/

      Great IMO. The horizontal panning knob is indeed small, but i used gloves and it was fine for me. The ball release knob was also a bit small, but same thing. Not too small. It has a cool release feature where you can get it ultra tight if you'd like.
