  • tent camping in the rain, I've gone solo camping just to have a relaxing overnight camp and to enjoy the rain sound hitting my tent and tarp shelter.
I also use my very small twig stove as an outdoor campfire and to cook on.
Rain camping can be very challenging in heavy rain so taking some home comfort itams is a nice idea.

Great vid. Some folks can't camp without the latest and greatest. You get by with a bit of string and an Ali express stove. Cracking stuff. Dodgy on unzipping that tent though. Could have been people inside having nookie lol. I also love how you expanded the shelter with overhead tarp. Very clever. Chair too. I wouldn't have bothered going home haha. Come armageddon and everyone is running around helpless in their nighties you can bugger off to the woods and get by fine. I thought my camp set up was solid but that overhead tarp and chair idea is getting used as well now. It'll stop the birds shitting on me. It landed in my coffee last time.

Iam astounded at some of the equipment you use , one of my biggest problems was keeping warm and sleeping comfortably your stuff is far superior to anything I ever found, I did have a pot belly stove on board for heating which i fed with branches and wood i found on the beach. Were i can claim to have bettered you i was able to feed myself from the Atlantic ocean simply by fishing an baiting lobster pots, sadly a triple stroke and cardiac arrest brought my adventures to a close , now i watch you and enjoy your trails , best of luck to you.

USA, up in the White Mountains and towards canada it can be a beautiful sunny day and calm night, but it turns fierce out of nowhere. Even if rain isnt "forecast" i ALWAYS run a large tarp over our tent and cooking area. It has its own weather system where im from that can turn on a dime. Personally, i love it. As long as your prepared, its a good time. Love the videos sir. You inspire me to get back out there.

Tent and tarp is always a great idea. I never understood why folks don't carry a tarp along. It gives you some freedom to sit about during rain or snow or broiling sun. I've stopped watching many a channel because it ended up being a 20 minute video of a guy laying in a tent. Defeats the purpose of enjoying the outdoors if you're stuck inside for the majority of the adventure.

Great video Dan. I’d have checked the other tent too in case someone is ill or injured. You should make a wood stove for yourself out of a 50cal ammo can.

Some times people set up for later; go about whatever for the day and just come back to 'base' when they are ready to.

You need to bring a Brewmeister Snake Venom beer with you next time. Keeps you happy and warm in the rain

Just a thought for future. If you get four pegs. Put them in the chimney ( NSEW)diagonally then sit the pan in the middle. It will wedge the pegs and sit higher giving air flow.

Excellent video as always, I love that you don't need to bring along tens of thousands worth of gear to create compelling content. I would have checked on the other tent as well.

Tent dilemma: I'd go and check. If it's abandoned, I'd tell the woodland owner.

    Yes please Dan,
School holidays are on, so that would get used immediately for my Grandson and I.
His new school in Sept, do the DofE, so hopefully he’ll get the taste and sign up for it.
Far better for them than the Xbox!
    Stay safe mate.
