    4 years ago I bought this gun because of this video. It was my FIRST gun. Now 14 guns/rifles later it’s still my favorite gun of them all. It’s very smooth for a 45 with 10+ 1. It’s a heavy boy but I love it for conceal carry

    I LOVE Glock pistols. I used to think they were ugly, but I have come to see the simplicity and elegance of their design as truly beautiful. I believe it deserves a place in firearm history right alongside the designs of John Browning.

      Glocks have about half the moving parts of other pistols & the parts they do have are well built. These things are rugged workhorses that will last forever if you take care of them. They aren't ammo picky either. There are more fancy models out there, but if you want a piece of hardware that you can count on to go bang when you squeeze...its Glock. I wouldnt trust my life to any other gun before than a Glock.

      Umm, Glocks are a Browning type pistol. The hammer was replaced with a striker and the frame is polymer instead of metal.

    Thank you for doing this video - I've been trying to make a decision as to either the 30 or the 30S. I've come down to the 30S due to the slide thickness and weight for better carry option. Problem is... I can't get one at my local Blue Label dealer so I had to go with the 30. The good part is your video put me at ease to pick it up versus the 30S. So a BIG THANKS!

    Hickok45, I want to give you an update about my Glock 30S. I took it out to the range today. This gun shoots flawlessly. Right out of the box it has the best trigger feel of any Glock that I have ever shot. Just like you said, this gun is extremely accurate. I shot 200 rounds through it with no a single malfunction. It took a lot of persistent effort to find this gun for sale, but my search was well worth the effort. This absolutely is my favorite Glock. For now on, my daily carry weapon.

    Hickok45, This morning I went to the range and shot my Glock 30S for the 2nd time. The more that I shoot this gun, the more that I am convinced that it is the perfect Glock for me. It has more than enough stopping power, is very accurate, comfortable to shoot, compact, and light enough for a great carry gun. I carry it with one original magazine in the gun, and 2 extra Glock 21 magazines. This is a perfect combination for me. I strongly recommend the Glock 30S for anyone who wants a carry .45.

    They seemed the same, but I don't have a G36 to compare. Since it seems the same fit in my G19 holsters, there can't be much difference, if any. I know Glock has made mistakes, either accidentally or intentionally, on their slide thickness numbers. I know that for years they had the GAP slides listed as the same thickness at the 9mm and .40 slides, which is NOT the case. They are thicker. The 30s seems the same as the 9mm Glocks.

    When these were released I just HAD to have one, then I found one in my local shop and handled it next to another Gen 3 30, but just a standard SF, as well as a Gen 4 G30 and....... I noticed no difference when inside the waistband, so after thinking and thinking I spent the same amount and got the Gen 4 G30 and I FREAKING LOVE IT!!!! It felt so perfect in my hand with the medium backstrap at the shop, so I was already planning on running the Medium like I do on my Gen 4 G21, BUT mine was a newer model so it had the 4-piece backstrap kit, tried the medium beavertail and I'm in heaven, ordering the beavertail kit for my G4 G26 as it has the notch just didn't come w/the beavertail's. I just prefer the softer standard G30, and the extra/3rd mag the Gen 4 comes with is a nice bonus! They should have intro'd the G30s as a Gen 4 since it has a slimmer frame, just seem's like it'd make more sense.

    • @calisti555
      @calisti555 11 лет назад

      So just to confirm you ended up with a Gen 4 30SF? As Prodigysportsman has stated " the 30S is 32.50 mm / 1.27 in. That makes the 30S the same slide width as the Gen4 30 and 30SF. I am assuming the same frame on the 30S as the Gen4 30. Difference, it seems is the weight of the 30S, it is lighter." I may just go with a Gen4 30SF. I'm more concerned with having the slimmer slide for ccw over the weight difference of 3oz.

    • @reeseman67
      @reeseman67 11 лет назад

      Calilaker CAGLS Well, they have the same frame (G30SF and G30s), but the G30s has the same slide width as the 9mm, .40's and .357 sig models, and the G36, but with the same frame width it didn't seem much different IWB vs the standard G30/30SF/Gen 4 30. It also recoil's more with a thinner slide and lighter weight, more of a .40 snap, but not even that, just not as soft as the standard models. All personal preference, if I want a thinner slide, I want a thinner frame also and I'll carry a G19 or G26, but they should all get the job done.

    I think this is a great gun (as are all Glocks) but I don't really see the point in a thinner slide other than the loss of ~3.5 ounces. If you think about it, the frame is still the thickest part and a thinner slide won't do much if anything for concealment purposes. I'd rather have the beefier slide to help with recoil management than a thinner slide and 3.5 less ounces. Just my thoughts on the gun. Again, not hating on it, I just don't see it as a necessary "upgrade" from Glock.
    Then again, they are the experts and I'm just a hobbyist, so I think they might know just a liiiittle bit more than I do :P

      The benefit to carrying is that with it lighter, no matter how trivial, it will be less noticeable on you to yourself. Also, in physical terms, the lighter a slide, the weaker the ammo that can function in it, therefore making a 30S potentially more reliable than a 30 (don't quote me on that)

      Sean Vine That may be the answer. If it's a small local business, they could very well have had them sitting there for years. That, or tucked them away when news that they were being discontinued came around. Small shops do those things, and I don't blame them. Sit on a product for a year or two and it triples in value. I do appreciate you letting me know though. I may give them a call. What did you pay? Most I've paid for any Glock mag was $25.

    I know this is an old video, but I'm curious as to what you think about this as a backup gun. Too thick or heavy?

    • @TNF232
      @TNF232 8 лет назад +4

      Glock 30S was designed to be a law enforcement undercover primary firearm. This is why it has the power, compact package, and high capacity. 30S is a but longer in the barrel than say a 27, but I think one of the main thing that drops it out of the backup category is the grip on the magazine. It just isn't meant to be as small as the 27 and family.
      I wouldn't really put this pistol into the backup family. I have a 27, but for my size, I wouldn't even put that into the backup category. My 42 and 43, sure. They can easily fit into a pocket or ankle holster. To each his own though. Go to your trusted gun shop and see for yourself.

    The Glock 30S is not just a Glock 30 with a Glock 36 slide. It is a SF (short frame) pistol which means it is easier for smaller hands to grip well and reach the trigger despite being a double stack 45. The nose on the slide has been rounded off and the edges of the slide are also rounded off. Put a Glock 19 or 30 slide next to a 30S slide and you will see how much rounder and sleeker it is. This not only aides in holstering but makes it nicer and easier to conceal carry tucked in close to the body. The LAPD SIS (Special Investigations Section) worked with Glock on the design of the Glock 30S and it is the go-to pistol for LAPD's most elite undercover squad. It is the combination of the slimmer and rounded slide with the SF short frame that makes it a Glock 30S.

    I've had the glock 30s in the past, and moved on. Now I've come full circle and carry either a G26 or a g30s, just like I did years ago.
    I wished I'd never sold either, now I'm back. Some other pistols caught my eye, but glock makes sense when the dust settles.
    It's been expensive searching for the greener grass after I already owned glocks, now I need to replace my g43 and then call it a day.

    I am willing to bet that Mr. Hickok would never call Glock with a "don't you know who I am" attitude as this gracious man probably approaches Glock like he is just another individual getting the same response as you or me, which is a clever review of a company in its own right. Poor tech support? Great way to lose market share no matter how good you product is. Take a lesson Glock! Thanks again Mr. Hickok with your oh so palatable approach!

    I just got the 30s a couple weeks ago then purchased the nine round magazine to make it a little more concealable and it has absolutely become my primary carry gun. I love this glock and it substantially lighter then my XD-40 subcompact. I also have a glock 23 and my 30s fits all of the 23 holsters perfect.

      I am very interested in both the Glock 30s and also the 23.. How do you feel recoil compares between the two? I've always felt the .40 was snappy but enjoyed the push of a .45 however have never fired one as light as the 30s. Do you find one more manageable than the other? Thanks
