@@falconeshield Yeah, and if a woman is passive and accepting, she is the best person in the world. If a man is passive and accepting, he is a wimp who is not worth your time. It's called double standards. Everyone has them.
Plus, it sounds like she had to be extra assertive so her creative vision could come through and be respected. By all means, it sounds like, if she thought something was a good idea (like Osano's idea of, instead of making the series in space, to have the girls fight in sailor fukus because it would be cute), she incorporated it to her vision. If you get pushback on even something like your protagonist's hair color, that kind of says a lot. Even then, she took that advice even if she disagreed, and made Usagi blonde. The most "diva" thing she does is be open about her love life, in which case... so? This doesn't actually impact the work and you can just ignore it if you're not interested in it.
If you watch early video interviews with her, she still seemed really shy and introverted. But quiet people can still have hidden passion and assertiveness.
I worked with Bandai 10+ years ago with the start of the Sailor Moon Figuarts line. The execs from Bandai didn't hesitate to bash Takeuchi as controlling and hard to deal with. She was choosing the release order of the figures as well as the characters, according to them, and would reject Bandai's ideas often. From everything I've heard, she sounds like quite a personality, and she probably is hard to deal with on a business level. That said, she is no doubt creative. As a huge fan of her art and style, I'd rather know her through that and keep my dream of the amazing person who created it alive, rather than see her bad side up close.
Takeuchi had a PhD and made herself a billionaire with Sailor moon, the diva complex isn't even delusion, it's rightfully earned bc there isn't anyone on the same level as her

While I do love Takeuchi and all shes done, I'd say my manga author female crush is Rumiko Takahashi she's made so many bangers that got me out of my autistic funk and say "You know what, human connection might not be so bad"
Funny that in an industry known for for anti social introverts Takeuchi one of the most influential female mangakas was a straight rockstar of a manga creator
Holy crap tho. It doesn't sound like Sailor Moon's author was entitled or had a princess complex, it sounds like she was surrounded by incredibly stupid men. Men who were upset by her having a spine when it comes to her integrity as a writer and character designer, and men who spread rumors when she didn't easily fold under their demands. And the hunter x hunter guy didn't sound like he understood how marriage WORKS with that proposal... yikes. I'm glad everything worked out for the two of them in the end.
If anyone's seen the Chapter Black or Chimera Ant arcs, they were based off feelings Togashi had during the 90s, and I'd guess that satisfied the dark, mental hang-ups Takeuchi was looking for in men.
Heh, to be fair Nisekoi is a very, very low bar. :) One of my favorite shonen romance series is "A Silent Voice" that was published in Bessatsu Shonen magazine. Others were "Your Lie In April", "Quintessential Quintuplets", and "Kaguya-Sama Love Is War" that were all published in shonen magazines.
Great video, but i think you could have went a little in further about the conditions of society that make it more likely for the media to see a young rich indepedent woman as "princess syndrome" or "hard to work with"...i mean, she might actually be a devil or , she might just be a strong woman who was stereotyped , we would never know.

No he was completely right. The blonde is more striking on the anime channel surfing and the same reason Pikachu is yellow.
She wouldn't have stuck out. Especially with how they did background art and kids would be watching it on CRT tv's so there wouldn't be much contrast otherwise.

There were rumors a few years ago that she did just that. There's a few panels of Kurapika that look kind of familiar...

@@idhammm He actually has a lot of assistants, he's just strict on how he wants to tell his story. Its got nothing to do with ego. I do think he has an unhealthy relationship with work.
@pingutune Well he hasnt done much "work" for the past 10 years so that shouldn't be much of an issue then.
@@JesusChrist2000BC He’s basically disabled, he isn’t under that pressure like other mangakas are, idk why you’re saying this under a video that talks about his marriage. Like manga isn’t just his life, you hear about how distracting it is in This Video.
Like is that even an insult 🤨 Oh no.. he’s taking his time. You do know he’s feeling better now right?
Mangakas work their butt off and then burn out, their schedules are borderline sadistic. When they get like four hours of sleep, I don’t wan’t you insulting a veteran mangaka for taking lots of breaks.
Imagine consuming all the existing manga then be like "fine, I do more myself".
Moral of the story: find someone who matches your freak and if you say something stupid that almost results in a break up, always make sure to max out your charisma.
This mfer really came up with the most negative aura answer possible and somehow turned it around. Togashi really is the goat.
Did you not watch the video?? He didn’t turn it around she’s just into unattractive pathetic men and he was so pathetic that she married him
Bro almost lost all his aura like gon😭
Takeuchi was called a diva with a princess complex, but it sounds like she knew what she wanted and had a no BS attitude that wasn’t normal for Japanese women at the time. Weirdly Togashi’s comment about cheating is more progressive cause usually the man can cheat all he wants cause just having sex ‘doesn’t count’, but the woman can’t cheat cause it does count. Japanese men still believe in this, it’s why girls clubs are so popular and soap lands. Maybe because he was kinda progressive for the time she accepted his groveling. She’s a queen who deserves the best.
"What she wanted" was to pychopathically seek out people with mental problems and see how much worse she could make them before discarding them.
She didn't seek them out. They confidently threw themselves at her, thinking they could tame a shy but successful manga artist. Turns out she has a secret sadistic side with strong self esteem to match.

Disregard any and all criticism towards someone because of their success is such a weird thing to do
Their relationship itself could become a series
A woman artist claiming her rights over her work on the men-filled industry of manga and anime being labelled a diva with a princess complex.
Right.
I can't imagine how manipulative that industry is. Makes the fact that her next work was "lost" not that surprising.
Please, if a woman is demanding and firm, she gets called a diva. If a man does it, he's just being normal.
And this is the 90s mind you
Not exactly kind to 20+ women
But quiet people can still have hidden passion and assertiveness.
because it's way more uncommon for women who are socially expected to be more docile than men
She's so real omg 😭

Takeuchi and Togashi were not invited to a Weekly Shonen Jump party, but to a party organized by Kazushi Hagiwara, the mangaka behind Bastard
If anyone's seen the Chapter Black or Chimera Ant arcs, they were based off feelings Togashi had during the 90s, and I'd guess that satisfied the dark, mental hang-ups Takeuchi was looking for in men.
