Wow the microphone feature took that speaker from zero to hero. Great compact little system with many uses.

Thank you for the shootout! I have been interested in "budget" wireless handhelds as I've started hosting some karaoke and also work with a local pro wrestling company. I am also trying to help the wrestling company find some speakers in their range. Impressed at what this Samson Explorer PA can offer and the price point and reliability of the Mackie Thump Go.

Looks like a good monitor for karaoke gigs, especially with the reverb.

Thanks for the review. The Explor is a great unit, however I'm not convinced about the XPD2 Handheld - too much interference, presumably RF - 2.4ghz issues... So will be returning mic.
    Best wishes 🤗

I've owned the Mackie and other versions of the Samson and is the clear winner. I really enjoyed the Samson when I owned it but I sold it and moved on to the Mackie Thump Go. The Samson is nice for when space is limited but the Mackie has more features. Now when you factor in price then you have to consider what your use is going to be for the speaker. I mainly used the Samson for portable turntable sessions. The mackie is used for ceremonies, cocktail hours and portable sessions. The Samson would never work for cocktails or ceremonies. I don't think the two speakers are in the same league other than the fact that they are battery powered.

I've had the Samson since 2020 and it has never let me down till recently where it lost its ability to hold a charge. Used it for ceremonies and covered 150 guests from front facing and went audio went out about 35 yards solid.

fyi, my Samson was the Express plus. This one definitely is even better. I use to use an amazon wireless mic and worked amazing. i'm wondering how the range is on this.

I own a Samson Expedition Express since 10 Years or so and Just bought a Mackie Thump go now. Im a bit disappointed with the bass of the Mackie as Im used to the Bass of the Samson, it is really a Blast. But on higher Volumes the Mackie is clear and strong while the Samson easy overdrives.
But still I wish the Mackie would come with more Bass and Frequenzy below 65Hz

I came here to say the complete opposite. The highs sounded tinny on the Samson but I was shocked how good the lows were. I still prefer the Mackie overall, but the bass on the Samson was shocking.

At least 8 ft from the ground and not even a scratch. Lucky enough it was outside in a courtyard but still...

Stopped at 7:20 and at least what I hear is that when the beat comes in it seems like the highs get muffled with the Samson and with the first song it seemed like it doesn’t have as good of a mid range as the Mackie. Though this could possibly be fixed with the EQ adjustments it has. Curious what you will say since you hear them in person.

brother, I got caught up in hard situation. I am living in Germany now and there is a perfect hookah lounge for me to play at. The only thing is the owner won't let djs use house speakers due to possible blow out. I am considering getting 3 thumps to fill the room. Would 2 thumps be sufficient for a 500 Sq ft room? If I need to get 3, would all three be able to link?

I've used them for outdoor parties too, and they kick butt.
