I bought a Woburn 1 and it ROCKED my apartment! The bass was incredible and you could turn up with no distortion. It was the best single speaker system I’ve ever heard. Everything from classic rock to jazz sounded amazing. Zound Industries makes all the Marshall speakers and they know what they’re doing. I really want to get a Woburn 3…Thx for the great 👍 video! It was awesome to see all of your Marshall speakers and your thoughts about them!

Just acquired a new Marshall Tufton yesterday! It's sounds incredibly powerful and has a rich bass. All the aspects you usually don't expect from a 'portable'.
In my personal experience, it has bass a little too rich straight out of the box which can absolutely be fine tuned as per individual taste and preference. Having oodles of powerful bass is always a boon and is welcome, again, especially considering it is a portable.

@sandud8290 That's partly true. That balance is attainable. For reference - I keep my treble between 3-4 on the scale of the knob above. I gave this range due to the room acoustics and listening area being different from one user to another. Otherwise, this speaker is absolutely audiophile grade and this is coming from a musician and a composer since age 6 and a user who also has a dedicated home cinema room with highly powered KEF speakers and SVS subs.

Willen Emberton2 Killburn Steel Killburn 2 Stockwel 1 Acton Multi Room Stanmore Multi Room Woburn Multi Room Tufton Woburn 2 Acton 3 Woburn3
This is the model I have. And collected over 2-3 years, I spent days with it. Ignoring the TV or any book. And the best for me is the Woburn3. The sound of it really captivates me. Everything is good, although some songs, the sound of the music It sounds thinner than the Woburn Multi room, but I can't stop listening to the Woburn3. Second to the Woburn3, I give the Killburn Steel😊

The Middleton really spoke to me, despite you not liking it the thing was calling my name and I eventually gave in and got one (RIGHT before it dropped to $250, go figure 🙄), but I have to say I'm in LOVE with the thing. PERFECT portable speaker that you can just grab and move anywhere - bathroom, kitchen, barbecue, while drawing or doing work on the computer. There is NO excess on it, not even physically speaking, but it can still pack a bit of a punch. It can't do stereo if you buy two, it is NOT a soundbar/gaming/TV device, really want to stress that, but if you just want to grab a portable wireless speaker with you anywhere yet have a bit of oomph to the sound, it's just ideal IMO, especially for $250 or lower.

Great work Danny! Really enjoy ur videos. My FAV OUT of these is the Acton 3. Sounds incredible. I also have the stockwell 2. Although the stockwell doesn't get very loud, I just love the smoothness of the sound quality. I really REALLY want to hear the Woburn in person. I had the Middleton and loved it at first but noticed it was only enjoyable to me a low volumes. Once I got past 50% volume it would lose bass

Hey Danny, really appreciate all of your videos! They were very informative, useful, helpful - and enjoyable, lol - when I was doing my research. I ended up purchasing the Tufton, and I was actually able to get in on sale for about $240. The bass is actually a little bit "heavier" than what I'm used to in a portable speaker, and I'm still playing around with placement, settings, etc., in that regard, but for the price I paid for it, you really can't go wrong. Thanks again for all the great content you provide!! :)

Great vid. Very helpful. It’s because of an earlier video of yours that I got the Acton III and I love it.
Two things about the Acton III is that it’s NOT portable in the sense of being wireless or battery powered. Needs to be plugged into the mains.
Second, as amazing as the sound is, it’s not 360 degrees omnidirectional like the Bose and Im told, the Emberton II which is stereo.
I’m in the market for an Emberton II for my office, so will see.
Thanks for your effort and hard work Danny.
    Love from South Africa

So I impulse bought the Stanton some months ago in a local mall solely because of... aesthetics (dad won't buy me a Marshall guitar amp back when I was a teenager, so yeah, hard cope). I enjoyed the sound and how it fit in our living room. Until the day I returned from work and found one of the cats also enjoying it as a premium scratching post. I totally forgot what they (we have four cats) did to our furniture. Once they taste the luxury feels of pleather bits under their paws, they just can't stop it. I kept telling myself that it's still fully functional, minor flesh wounds, sounds not affected, etc. The joy of having cats, they say 🥲
My dad must be laughing so hard from his grave.

I have a Woburn (#1), and sometimes I think it sounds bad, but then that always turns out to be due to bad-sounding files on the streaming service. I play a high bitrate file and then I am reassured that the Woburn is clear, sharp, bass-laden and loud. Yes it's not a battery portable, but I only use it in the house!

Just found this video, and adter purchasing an Emberton II, i'm happy with my choice. I adore the sound of JBL speakers, but in my application, I have had issues with JBL speakers pairing with my devices due to inadequate protocols being supported by JBL speakers.
My case in point: i needed a GOOD mobile speaker to pair with my AT-SB727 "soundburger" record player when I'm traveling for work. I already own a small JBL speaker that REFUSES to pair with my record player.

I'm using the Woburn III with my TV and sounds great, maybe not as clear as some sound bars but miles ahead of the default TV speakers. I bought it mainly because I wanted a speaker for music. I wonder if it's possible to connect two of these simultaneously? I believe they promised something like this in the past but I'm not sure if they delivered. I don't see any option in the Marshall app.

i own both acton iii and acton ii, i bought acton iii during auction of an IT event at slightly more than half of its retail price. It sounds nice.
i subsequently bought acton ii during sale at less than half of the retail price for acton iii as I am on budget that I am yet to be able to buy acton iii at full price. Acton ii indeed sounds muffier than acton iii for sure. So i used it in my study room as my computer's speakers instead while acton iii I use it with my TV in the living room. Still not too bad purchase for my acton ii given its lower price. For those on budget, can still consider acton ii if it is on sale. However, pretty much everywhere is going to be out of stock for acton ii also due to the clearance of it.
I hope the acton iii can be on bigger sale any time soon that I can buy them at cheaper price instead of retail price. Now the discount of it is still low.

Hey Danny! 🙂 I've already got the Acton 3, and, as you said, the sound is phenomenal👍 given its size and weight. However, with all due respect to the Acton 3, due to the small size of the speaker cabinet, I find the soundstage isn't wide enough, and the vocals feel a bit squeezed to me. I'm considering returning it and purchasing the Woburn 3 instead with the bigger cabinet. However, I'm also intrigued by the smoothness of the vocals on the Vifa Oslo, although I've never heard it in real life.
Could you please tell me if the vocals on the Vifa Oslo really sound smoother and clearer than on the Woburn 3? Which one can offer more? I'm contemplating if buying the Vifa would be a better choice for me. I have a small listening room and prefer not loud but quality sound, so I believe that even at low volumes (less than 40%), the Woburn 3 sounds great. Btw, the size of the Woburn isn't an issue for me and a portable speaker isn't my priority.
If you don't mind, I have one more question. I noticed you prefer using the Woburn 3 instead of any set of bookshelf speakers. Do you think the Woburn 3 sounds better than a pair of bookshelf speakers in the same price range?
    Thanks in advance. 🙂

The flex is really really good. I'd argue a smoother bass overall, but its kinda boring looking I'd agree. Go with the one that makes you more excited to buy.

Very well done subjective review overall especially with no data but I was very interested in what you had to say so well done I'm surprised though that these speakers cannot be paired up in a stereo scenario. For all these price points I don't understand pair of headphones for $10 will do that but these can't? But I have to say I'm always fascinated by these Bluetooth speakers from the quarter size up

I got unlucky with my Middleton. I stuck with the JBL Flip for years until it died, had been eyeing something fancier and the cream Middleton looked too gorgeous.
I had issues from the get-go. Issues pairing like the late stages of my JBL, noticeably fuzzy static when it did pair, and... I did in the Bluetooth button. HOW? It is recessed, unreachable unless I take my pinky and jab it deep in. Note, this is all within 2 hours of me using the speaker. Like an hour of troubleshooting.
Thinking of getting an Emberton II but I love the look and rubber/silicone coating and shape of the Middleton more (and am ready for a nicer, bigger but not too big speaker). If it doesn't work out I'll go back to another JBL Flip. Not a looker, but it doesn't disappoint :(
Edit: Okay, Acton III it is. Thanks Danny!
