    Dude, of course it's your prerogative to say whatever you want on *your* channel and yes, people don't have to watch/listen, but if you aren't even getting the model # of equipment right (XSW not X5W) and saying things like it's no good when you aren't using it as designed (mic level not line level) it's hard to believe anything else you give opinions on.
    I know you may not care, but you seem to be discrediting yourself... I'm not here to argue anything & am moving on. Good luck.

    Thanks for this video! I am actually prepping to do the same thing this weekend.
    For speakers I am also using a pair of Mackie Thump GO
    For wireless XLR, I am using the Sennheiser G4 bodypacks…1 transmitter and 2 receivers. Watched quite a few videos about the system and everyone seems to like them. These miight work better because they have tunable UHF frequencies to avoid interference, gain control to avoid that signal distortion and they have a range and signal strength that can pass through walls even. Almost got the Alto Stealth Pro but seemed pointless because they still need power. Had the Sennheiser setup for a small band past two weeks and sounded great.
    Using the Halo Bolt 58830 mWH portable battery pack for my ceremony rig and figured I could try it with my Rane One. I always forget to plug in my M1 MacBook and it lasts all night. Gotta pre-record my radio mixshow set in the studio this Friday so that will be a good preliminary test before taking it out this weekend. If that proves to be too much energy draw, I will use the Rev1 or SB3…both bus powered so probably won’t need the battery pack but it is small enough to leave in the booth. I will let you know my findings.

    Great Vid! I did a test recently at a bar where I ran the Denon Prime Go for 4 hours (Wi-Fi off) and I got the warning about 10 minutes before I stopped. I also used the Xvive U3 Dynamic wireless XLR system to the house PA snake and those were still fine after four hours. They don't seem to distort, but I also run my Denon a little low because I think it seems to distort a bit in general even at 0 DB.

    • @ricklamb3213
      @ricklamb3213 2 года назад +1

      I also use a pair of Xvive U3. The reason you can drive them harder then the Sennheisers wireless XLRs is because the Xvive U3s have a built in MIC / Line Level switch, the Sennheisers only work cleanly within the MIC level range, they weren't really designed for handling line out levels like the Xvive U3s are. Also the Xvive U3s have a wider frequency response (20-20khz), the Sennheisers are only 30-16khz because most corded vocal mics that they were meant to be used for don't extend out to 20khz, whereas line out sources from controllers / mixers put out the full audio spectrum (20-20khz)

  • @DjReeceVarnell
    @DjReeceVarnell 2 года назад +7

    To use the XSW D properly you need an inline attenuator as these don’t have mic / line level options. That’s why they distort when using them to transmit audio. They’re designed for dynamic mics not speaker outputs. I use an inline attenuator and they work great. That’s all you need to fix it. Same attenuator I used to use on my mc6000 mic inputs.

    • @orjanjhmagnusson
      @orjanjhmagnusson 10 дней назад

      That is, you have to attenuate the mixer output from line to mic-level before plugging in the transmitter, receiver will also deliver mic-level. Is this correct?
      In what scenario/why did you use inline attenuator on your input?

    Hey Terry. Have you tried the Alto Pro Stealth wireless audio. I’m pretty happy with it, I do only use them for zoning out extra speakers at a large or weirdly shaped venue. I pair it with the Bose S1 Pro and a couple of generic 1/4 inch instrument wireless adapters. The wireless adapters offer great latency but also seem to distort a bit at high volume and i notice that they seem to roll off some of the low end. Yooooo! Terry!
    I got a solution for your Sennheiser problem. Those devices are designed to make a microphone wireless, which means they accept a mic-level input, so it's easy to peak the signal when you plug them into a line-level device like the output on the back of the Prime Go. Try swapping them out for the Xvive U3. They have a mic/line switch, and I think you'll find that the line switch makes all the difference when it comes to going fully wireless with your speakers. Justin @ DJs Guru swears by them, and I'm about to pick myself up a set so I can cut my cables even more than I already have.

    The prime go is a master piece, absolutely love it. I use a Sony UWPD wireless pack to make it fully wireless. I’m looking to get another UWPD but I need to look into how to do two wireless systems because sometimes the frequencies can interfere.
    I only wish the prime go had a removable battery to have a back up just in case.

    They make 19v battery packs. I put a maxoak one in my pro x case and I can get like 14 hours now out of the denon prime go. It's overkill but a peace of mind. I just got a pair of the new jbl eon one mk2 I have not done a test yet on how long they last.

    As i said before those XSW and rode wireless go are ONLY MIC LEVEL, anyone who wants xlr wireless may need to look things like ALto Stealth or Stealth Pro, those ones have line level, Dj Rachel make a review on the pro Version, here in europe i can't find the pro versiojn and the normal one is discontinued
    You're right, i have the same model, and i tried like you with my prime go, when i noticed the distortion i test one out with senheisser and the other with cable, confirming that sennheisser ads that distortion, as far as i know this sennheisser's are MIC wireless and not line level, and i think because of that we are trying to outputting pro line level from a prime go and insert at the other side pro line in level in the spaker, but these transmitters i think that works ONLY with mic line levels and for that reason it distors when we push up. The exact same thing happens when i tried the rode wireless mic go I or II, they are usable for low levels of output input, but if you push it, it distorts like senheisser

    Cleveland question about yhe Mackie Thump Go… do you always use the whole battery before you charge again!!! Is there a risk like the cellphone that “the batteries” go bad cause you always charging!!!
    Damn long ass question

      I have used my mackie thump go's and I have been using them and charging them and have had no issues. After each use i just plug them up until the charging light stops blinking and put them back in the speaker bags i bought for them. The batteries can be replaced if they become an issue.

      Hey DJ, The "Full Drain" problem you're referring to is from when Cell Phones used to use Nickel-Metal Hydride (Ni-MH) batteries back in the 90s and early 2Ks. Most modern devices use either Lithium Ion (Li) or Lithium-Polymer (Li-Po) batteries, which don't have those same problems. As long as you're using a device with a modern Lithium battery, you should be OK to charge/discharge at your convenience without having to worry if you're draining the full battery or not. Hope this helps!

    Totally agree with your thoughts on battery life. I can confirm that almost 4 hours for the Prime Go is pretty accurate. In the first year that we did parties in the park, it consistently lasted just under 4 hours before we had to plug into a battery to top it off for the last hour. The past year have been using it for silent discos that are 2.5 hours and it consistently runs without flashing the battery low light.
    This past weekend, we ran the Thump Gos for an off-grid beach renegade (without a generator), pushing it as loud as we could before clipping and they ran for a solid 6 hours, though one of them started flashing the battery lights toward the end. We were running an RX2 off of a battery, so we had that as backup power for the speakers just in case, because we hadn’t played these out yet. If you’re going for that long a day, it would help to have a battery to top them off, but for a shorter event, I would have no worries about not having backup power at all. Was totally impressed by these. If Mackie or Bose were to somehow figure out a decent battery-powered sub, these off-grid events would be so much easier.

      @@bboymac84 Thanks for that heads up! I just watched Flossy Carter’s review of that Diamondboxx sub. Looks good. But that thing has 2 1/8” inputs and I can’t tell for sure because labeling is odd, but it has 1 HP output or 1 Full output, and no XLR? That’s weird and pretty limiting. Seems like it would be good if you’re using their gear though. Maybe I’m missing something. Doesn’t seem ideal for DJ use?
