@Cynlixal the acoustics in Lucas Oil are god awful, BUT, the logistics of the venue cover pretty much everything that needs to be addressed for such a large event.
I do believe a 2nd Percussion judge would be a unique change that i dont see bringing any negatives. With the proposal on woodwind soloists, im not some Brass purist like some of these commenters, however i do understand the concern of that. Maybe if the activity was flourishing, we could have Drum and Bugle Corps in one "division" and Marching Corps in the other. They're both the same skill level, its just one division uses and competes against each other with woodwinds allowed, and the Drum and Bugle Corps would continue competing against each other as they do today. Again, this idea only works in a world where this activity has endless amounts of money to bank on for its future. Just some wishful thinking
First of all there is no "Pit" on the football field. In most cases, percussion instruments are "behind" the band and/or orchestra. Put the "stand still" percussion back field. And, consider having the corps play music that is entertaining. The audience is a very important element of the contest performance. Play music not just obscure and unrecognizable sounds. The spectators want to be entertained by music and precision equipment and drill designs. Don't fill the field with props. When you "audition" the performance, you will find that soloist choreography gets lost in the crowd. Excitement comes when the corps march onto the field, do their program and march off. Keep it simple and entertaining.
G bugles are still 100% legal to field in competition. If you want G bugles, go start a drum corps. And have fun paying 3x the price for G bugles that won't net you great scores
I may be a woodwind player first and foremost, but PLEASE! NO WOODWINDS IN DCI! That would just make it “high-level marching band.” Plus, it gives folks like me an excuse to learn a brass instrument.
Bring back lot fights
PREACH
I hope this doesn't mean woodwind soloists
This is exactly what it means. As another person put it - this is gateway drug to woodwinds. I hope it doesn’t pass.
Very interesting….this is going to be a fun summer to watch
Very interesting rule changes!
Here's a proposal: Let's make Drum Corps be Drum Corps again!
If I want to go to band concerts I would, if I wanted to go to a Broadway show I would. Drum corp should be drum corp and none of the above.!
Hell no on all instruments
Yeah! Get rid of brass!!
Hmmmmm… Bring back on field judging, and MOVE FINALS TO SOMEWHERE ELSE (SPECIFICALLY THE PLACE THAT HELD THE 2008 FINALS)!!!
Nah they can't they have a contract to do it at Lucas oil until 2028 but after 🤷♂️
What is wrong with Lucas Oil?
mmmm i like not playing in the rain for when the finals thunderstorm eventually hits
Lucas oil is super echoey 😭😭

Bring back g bugles
The sound was so different and nice. That's lost now
G bugles are still 100% legal to field in competition. If you want G bugles, go start a drum corps. And have fun paying 3x the price for G bugles that won't net you great scores
Corps can still use them if they want to. But if any corps did, they would lose, due to how bad they are at intonation and tone.

Harmonica is corny as heck. Maybe NO!
