I REALLY loved this entire opening for the film. Dr. Strange always comes off as so composed when he shows up in other MCU installments, to the point where it was actually jarring to see him dressed in civilian clothes. I had kind of wondered if everything from his old life had just been left behind. Seeing him grappling with the things he couldn't save just for himself, and awkwardly floundering in this social setting was really refreshing.
To think that in Sinister Strange’s universe, after this, he went back to the Sanctum Sanctorum and got the Darkhold somehow and destroyed his universe in an attempt to see if he was ever with Christine
They did something similar in What If... where Christine dies instead of him losing the use of his hands and he turns to dark magic to get her back. But interesting concept.
