A cheap(er) medium format rangefinder that I can highly recommend is the Fuji GW690III. The 6x9 negatives are amazing.
I’ve still got to get my hands on one of those to see how it performs. But I’ve heard some great things about it!
Zeiss Ikon ZM occasionally come up for sale for relatively cheap. Bigger and better viewfinder than the M bodies and takes M mount lenses.
Yes, that could be another great alternative!
There are other limitations of film rangefinder (obviously compared to SLR) which are not mentioned yet, e.g:
- practically limited to shorter primes. if you only shoot 50mm... or 35mm... or 28mm then rangefinder is fine. then try zoom, something like 35-70 or 17-35. such lenses don't exist in rangefinder world. or tele lens like 200mm or greater.
- macro work is less convenient
- tilt shift lens is... well just forget it :D
That’s all true! I see some people shooting with 90mm lenses though, never tried it myself. Also zoom lenses aren’t really a good fit for rangefinders too in my opinion. I think you definitely should go for a SLR then! ✌🏼
I do not need a Leica M, but what I need is a Leica M.

Been wanting a Leica M7 since it came out!! lol, I should have gotten one back in 2007 instead of a DSLR, but I ended up getting one in the end!.
Good thing that you got one in the end! What do you like about the M7 over let’s say the M6?

@@TIPSinc01 I have never used the M6 so I cant say what I like more about the M7.
I am a big time aperture priority shooter. M7 has that plus the one killer AEL lock feature where you can half press the shutter and lock in the shutter speed. Use it all the time esp as it’s a center weighted meter.
Is Fuji X100VI better than Leica M6/MP/M11?

Hmm, then I need to put them in different categories because every situation might ask for a different camera. 35mm, medium format, portraits or landscape, street photography etc. Think that would be a difficult one and I like to recommend cameras that I’ve used myself too. But what category would you like to know?
@@TIPSinc01 Please could I know, your top 5 cameras in 35mm. Your top 5 cameras in Medium format. And/Or your top 5 cameras overall regardless of format, please.
Or just top 5 of any format for professional photographers vs amateur photographers.
@@AYO-08 okay, let me do my favorite cameras. Because I don’t even thing I’ve used so many haha.
For 35mm my all time favorite is the Leica M6. I use it for almost everything.
The camera I recommend for beginners or those who want a bit more serious camera are the Canon AE-1 or Nikon F3. There are more options here though.
For medium format my favorites are the Mamiya RB67 and the Hasselblad 500c or any 500 series.
On my wishlist are right now only medium format cameras which are either the Pentax 67, Mamiya 7ii, Hasselblad 503 or 501, haven’t decided yet on that one lol.
On airport thay ruined my rolls twice even if i told them that this is fil, and they seen rolll in plastic box with sticker....
That's sad to hear... Some airports/security just don't seem to care.
Yes You can get Pentax MX wchich io smaller, cheeper and much more better than Leica in all dimentions ;)
But Leica have some different way to shoot and heh i own m4 and wanna try m6ttl but honestly... Leica barnack is the best Leica ever, m is only hype...
Haha to each its own of course! I wouldn't trade my M6 in for anything at the moment.

i think im gonna wait until they figure out how to integrate an IBIS mech and also a hybrid EVF..if fuji can integrate a evf into their x100v at under 2k then theres no excuse for Leica.
I think a EVF on a Leica M body is not what Leica shooters would prefer. If they do I think they would go for a Leica Q or SL.
@@TIPSinc01 the hybrid EVF in the x100v is beautifully integrated, you can keep the ovf option only or you can bring up a small portion of the evf up or you can switch completely to evf… at least the option is there. Additionally, the tilt screen is much more sleek and integrated into the body of the x100v compared to the Q3. Im looking at the SL line but its too big and heavy.. i have my nikon z6 for autofocus. The perfect camera would be a Leica m11 spec body with Hybrid OVF/EVF with IBIS and maybe a flush tilt screen and official weather sealing. I would buy it at the current $12000 cad price in a heartbeat.
@@TheBawssThomas that hybrid EVF is something I should check out, haven’t experienced that yet! And yes I get you, but the M bodies have the philosophy of “less is more” and I think they want it to stay like that. But I can understand why people feel that the price for a camera that doesn’t have all those functions is strange. I like it though, but I’m shooting film so…
@@TIPSinc01 you should try it out.. its really cool. I guess what im looking for then is a version of the Q system but with interchangeable M mount with ibis and hybrid evf. Im really looking for the ultimate compact lightweight full frame system, doesn’t have to have AF, video would be a plus.
