THE MOST UNDERRATED POINT AND SHOOT // POV shooting film at Formula 1
For Ilford 3200 film, it's been said to shoot it at 1600. So is that considered pulling? do I tell the Lab to pull it by one stop and reduce the development time on the film? It would be great if you could explain the benefit of Ilford3200 being shot at 1600.
It’s a 1600 speed film but pretty flat, therefore amazing to push. So what people do is push it one stop (3200), sometimes even two (6400).
i want to buy my first film camera. Any recommendations? I shoot professionally, but digital and want to get into film just for myself. I see you are using Leica and there are many models out there. Maybe you know what do be aware of(:
I always recommend to look into a Canon AE-1 or a Nikon F3 to begin with. Depends on budget. If you’re used to using a SLR this might feel better at first. A Leica is a rangefinder, which sometimes feels weird to people lol.
@@TIPSinc01 Alright, got it. Gonna start there then. Thanks a lot(:
Does it print automatically as soon as u take a shot? Or can you choose not to print that one and redo?
The photo will come out immediately. That’s because when you press the shutter, light comes through the lens and will hit the film.
you mainly only go polaroid if you want the name brand and the looks of the cameras, polaroids are more finicky and need to be babied but are more likely to draw heads since the brand ahs come back from its death in 2008
Well I think you’ll want a Polaroid if you like the bigger format and also the look of the images. Because it’s so different from Instax.
polaroid film handels bright lights better than instax film which will have a black spot on any bright lights caught in the frame, and polaroid is a newer film type since the chemicals used in the film were only perfected as of 2019-2020 and the instax has been around since the 90's
Don’t know about which one is newer, we don’t really know what’s going on in those factory’s do we lol. But I did have some black spots on the instax ones, never had it on the Polaroids. But the Polaroids have also some ‘flaws’ or characteristics.
your color preset in the videos are outstanding! Is there certain LUT that you use?
Thank you! No it’s not a LUT. I’m color grading it all! 🙏🏼
@@TIPSinc01 I noticed every video of yours has a diff color grading and they all look great. This one in particular has a very chiq grainy look as well.. Is there a shorcut for me to achieve the same grading? ( I absolutely loved the style!!)
@@artifintel well, try looking at some Kodak 2383 print emulations. Maybe some Fuji too, might help out 🙏🏼
If the xrays can't penetrate the lead bag, won't they not be able to see what's inside on the machines and want you to take everything out of it?
They might want to hand check it afterwards. But I’ve heard that they do see through the bag but it reduces the impact by 30,40%.
@@TIPSinc01 thank you, sounds like an "everyone wins" kind of situation, they can scan and we protect the film slightly
@@NickCheng93 yeah, but it’s a final safety measure. I would always try and ask for a hand check. Especially with the new CT scanners 🙌🏼
@@TIPSinc01 are the CT scanners always the big circle ones that look like turbines? If I see an older normal looking machine is it safe to assume it's not CT?
@@NickCheng93 yeah you’ll see it. It’s a futuristic thing lol
awesome content, i'm starting film photography and planning to buy the canon AE1 !
just bought it less than 100e with 50mm lense haha
Thanks mate and have fun on this journey with film! That’s a really good deal on that set 📸🎞️
I don't know, maybe I'm doing something wrong... I clicked on the link in the description, and landed on a website, which wanted to sell me a camera stand for $799. Where exactly should I be looking for the "affordable" part? Ah, never mind, it's a sponsored video after all...
Well, this episode wasn’t about the stand you’re talking about. But about the essential kit: www.negative.supply/shop-all/essential-kit-for-35mm-film-scanning
Travel without film or with only 1 roll and buy more on location. If ypu are visiting a developed country they are gonna have a camera stores and photo studios that sell film. They allways have gold, ultramax and maybe some fomapan but for other films it realy depends
Also an option, if the location allows it. But then you also need to develop your film over there. I’ve been to some locations where this was simply not possible. But if you’re in a major city and staying there it could.
Auto play really helped me this time. Just organizing my bag for a trip to Rio hahaha Thank you so much for the tips, my friend. Best regards!
Good to hear! Hopefully it’s helpful, have fun mate! Going to be some good photos I think 🎞️
Have u compared the now to the now+?
Not yet, would you be interested in that?
Yes!!! There’s not much good content about that either so that would be great. I’m really struggling to choose and I know many others are too. Some have resorted to buying the now due to the plus’ over exposure issues and confusing/ perhaps unreliable manual controls.
@@Obese-Vog I’ll think about it!
When I last flew, I asked my film to be hand checked. Then they ran it through the X-ray machine anyway and flagged me for additional screening. Most of my shots were ruined. I haven't flown since.
Ah man that’s sad to hear! Seems like experiences are so different for a lot of people.
I just recently went to Barcelona and had some film rolls with me. I had no luck asking for hand checks sadly so I'm very excited to see how the pictures will come out. The good thing is both airports I went through had the old x-ray scanners 😅
I think it will be all good, what speed film did you take with you?
Sick!! Not really into street photography but your vlogs in and around Netherlands are getting me into it. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks mate! Glad that I could inspire some interest haha 🙏🏼
I travel all the time and have no problem stop complaining people
Nothing wrong with being careful with the film and memories you capture mate ;).
Dude said I don't have this problem so it must not exist
I don't understand; wouldnt security either turn the power up on the xray machine to view through the lead lined bag; or take the film out of the bag anyway?
In my experience they don’t. If they can’t see through the bag they might hand check it afterwards. I’ve heard that CT scanners can see through the bag, but it still protects the film for around 30-40%.
I am deadass going to the airport in 2 hours :Ddd thanks for the video!
You’re welcome and have fun my friend! Where are you going to?
Ezra Miller?
Yes?
Thank you for the refresher! I read that if you place the film in lead bags, the security will up the X-ray intensity to see what’s in it. Your tip of placing the films in transparent zip lock bags would be the best. And you said it right, make it easy for the security. 😅
Yes I’ve heard that too but have seen other examples where it did work out well. Definitely with CT scanners. 🙌🏼
I haven’t had issues with a lead bag, but they ask to look every time
@@slothsarecoolgood to hear!
Great tips! Thank you 🙂. My question is: When the film travels from the factory to retailers in other continents all over the world, isn’t it scanned for security in customs anyway? Thanks again!
I needed this video 2 days ago when I was flying.. Sadly they made me put my film through the scanner, no matter what I said or how kindly I asked them they refused to. They also said the scanner wouldn't damage the film under 1600 wouldn't be damaged but I don't believe that personally. My leader of Cinestill 800T was badly damaged, but we will see. Hopefully it's not too bad🙃 Sadly I can't attach the image of my Cinestill 800T here for everybody to see.
Sorry to hear that mate! Hopefully it’s all right, do you remember if it was a regular scanner or a CT scanner? I’ve had some 800 speed film going through the regulars and that worked out fine. Hopefully yours will too. 🙏🏼
I don't know sadly, was too busy talking to the staff at Nice Airport. Can't find it on google either. Will update here when I get my film developed, currently shooting that Cinestill 800T roll because I really want to know haha
@@SennTimmeryeah let me know!
As a beginner would be nice to see some details below the pictures. Like shutter time etc.
I get that! But I can’t remember all of them. Most of these shots were taken between F8 and F16. Shutter speeds at 1/500th. Color film rated at ISO 400 and B&W at 1600. Hopefully that helps out a bit 🙏🏼
@@TIPSinc01 thanks 😊
@@Pierro1982 no problem mate!
or simply shoot on iphone
I saw someone bringing a Nintendo DS to take photos at a concert recently. Made me rethink my life choices.
I’d rather have a colonoscopy.😂
Anything 4:3 aspect ratio just does something to me 😩
I feel you on that one!
I used a Leadbag and only brought low ISO film like Pro-Image 100/Gold 200 and Fomapan100, the scanners had 0 effect from what i could see atleast, Flew from Amsterdam to Sweden so it went through a CT i think!
Yeah the low ISO film and the lead bag really worked out well there! I think it would be CT scanned if you flew from Amsterdam. Glad it worked out mate!
@@TIPSinc01 Schiphol heeft ct
Great video, thanks a lot! So my 2 cents, i had a polaroid and i replaced it with SQ1. I think the polaroid is just baaaaad, nothing nostalgic there, just bad.
You’re welcome mate! Yes to each its own of course! Luckily we have both options to choose from haha. SQ1 is amazing too.
Which lens is better Nokton Classic 35 1.4 or Ultron 35 2.0?
Depends on preference, I never shot the Nokton myself but I think it just has a more vintage quality over the Ultron, which is very sharp and clean.
@@TIPSinc01 for street photography on m11
hi, where do you get the strap for polaroid now? it looks so cool
I got it in the set that it came with. But I think you’ll be able to purchase it on their website too
Is it possible to tranfer them easily to our phone/laptop
I scan them with my Epson V600 flatbed scanner. Pretty easy and high quality.
Would you set the shutter speed on the camera at the cameras max sync, like on my EOS 3 max sync speed is 1/200th should I keep it fixed at that or adjust the SS and keep it under 1/200th?
Depends on how much ambient light you want in the photo. If you choose a lower shutter speed, more light from the surroundings will be visible.
Boring 🥱
Thanks for the comment though! 🙏🏼
How do you deal with the saturated skies? I have the same problem.
I take out the saturation in Lightroom, I think I show it in this episode: ruclips.net/video/g0_FnwsiWNA/видео.htmlsi=V2agZjg6IyWj4iwG

Amazing colors with the Portra 800. Is it possible to get it with digital presets?

What if i want to push my ilford HP5 ( iso 400) to 1600? Do i set the flash iso to 1600 or 400? Thanks.
Good question! You need to set the flash to 1600. Otherwise you’ll output to much power! 📸
I have a nikon fm2 with flash sync speed ar 1/250, does the godox lux junior work with?
It should work on all cameras!
Put your finger over the light sensors if there is a large white/bright portion of your shot to get proper exposure. That's what I do with my instax.
That’s worth a try! Thanks!
Why do you change it back to 800 in low light? If shooting at 400 overexposes, wouldn’t you want to overexpose in low light?
Good question! I do this so I can still shoot at a decent shutter speed!
Kan je de flits ook uitzetten?
Nope the flash stays always on sadly…
This video might be the best one in RUclips about pushing/pulling & over/under exposing. I really liked the simplification of difficult-to-understand subjects with great examples.
Love to hear that my friend! Glad that I could explain it in the easiest way possible. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
