Beautiful! I have a friend who is a Catholic priest in the Orlando area, and he (like me) is a not-so-great organist who likes to play a few hymns now and then for fun. His instrument happens to be Schoenstein’s magnum opus at Mary Queen of the Universe shrine in Orlando! Next time you are down here, you absolutely need to play that organ. Largest organ in a Catholic parish in the south.
A splendid instrument in a beautiful building with a generous acoustic. I enjoyed this sparkling performance, Charles . . . and look forward to hearing you play some Vierne in the near future!
Even all the great video views of the basilica don't prepare you adequately to experience in person how incredibly LONG the interior space is. It's really something.
It's really wide, too. My law school graduation was held in it. We paraded in regalia up the hill organized in the crypt - all 350 of us. The sanctuary is quite a hike across it, too. And yes, they had the organist play for graudation!
My favorite Vierne piece by far! So much so that I ended my Master’s recital with it (decades ago) and it kind of became a signature piece of mine. This is very beautifully done, and I seriously envy anyone who has a 64’ pedal stop!!
A few years ago, I made several recordings at the Shrine. Here's one of them. (When I uploaded them to RUclips, there was a 7-minute time restriction, so the performance had to be split into 2 segments. This is Part I.) ruclips.net/video/5IUG2YM1aHE/видео.html
Beautiful and very, very exciting and energized performance of the Vierne Final from Symphony #1!!! WOW, so enjoyed this and the videography and audio. 70 and not been to the Nat. Shrine since early-mid 1970s when I was an undergrad organ-sacred music major. The relief on the back gallery had not yet been installed and other features added since then. Also the rebuild-restoration of the original MP Moller I cherish my LP recordings of the Durufle's, Swann and the big anniversary mass/concert with Jean Langlais. The Langlais recording features the wonderful Shrine carillon with Robert Grogan, premiere recording of the Langlais Missa Orbis Factor, a fiery improv on the recessional hymn, Immaculate Mary. The reverse side is a wonderful organ concert of various works by Langlais others. The record jacket features the magnificent Christ in Majesty mosaic. The college I went to in PA had a 85 + rank Moller, I believe circa 1965, in the college auditorium.
I played there as a student, and I’m pretty sure the 64’ is a resultant, so not a lot of $$. More of a novelty but certainly adds a pew-shaking effect when desired.
I love that organ! I love that church! I watch the mass on TV alot from the Bacilica when I can't go.
I have been playing this piece for about 3 years now, it is certainly a showstopper!
Soberbia interpretsción de esta pieza impetuosa de Vierne.
Muchas gracias, Benjamin,
ha sido un placer escucharte desde Madrid ¡Bravo!
Großartiges Stück, phantastische Orgel, herrlich gespielt....
Charles - It was a pleasure to meet you and your friends at Ben's recital!
Beautiful registration. Would have loved to see you perform it at the console.

I am at the mercy of my professors now!
Ok Charles, appreciate this capture of the Vierne, but would rather see/hear you performing it! 😉

Truly one of the most beautiful churches I’ve ever been in.

I do believe that my organ teacher was assistant organist here at some point
Who?
Beautiful church!!!! Beautiful organ to!!! And very nice performance of Vierne!!! Who's the builder of this organ?? And when it's built??❤
It’s a Moller rebuilt by Goulding and Wood I think
Originally 1965 Moller I believe
There are only two pipe organs on the planet with actual 64ft stops. This is not one of them.
There is a 64’ Gravissima
What an instrument!! With a 64 foot pipe!! (Either resultant or digital. Not sure.)
Resultant
@@Charles-Reardon Thank you!
@@michaelpfaff6009 Resultant .There are only two pipe organs on the planet with actual 64ft stops. Atlanta Boardwalk Auditorium and Sydney Town Hall.

a lot of $$ for a stop that might be used once every 5 years. I've heard that organ...the music gets lost at this tempo.
A lot of money, but I didn’t spend it and I’m not complaining…

Not the worst out of tune I've heard. Sadly few people. Hearing aids on back order, but usually my pitch perception not too bad
organ is out of tune really bad
I’m just saying
@@Charles-Reardon i am just aying what kinda lingo is that?
You must be listening to a different recording than in the video.
it s the same bad recording you hear like it's flat way out of tune
