This Requiem is sublime.
What a setting! The Requiem and that Cathedral, a couple of jewels of Western Civilization.
The young Thomas Allen! There's a bonus. Magnificent performance all round. Many thanks for this upload.
Yesterday I had the honour of finally performing this majestic piece as a tenor in the choir I sing in
Great music. Beautiful singing by Dominic Harvey.
gorgeous in every way possible
I saw the Requiem performed just this past Sunday. No matter where or by whom it's performed it never fails to move me. I just close my eyes and let it take me
Thank you for this upload!
This is by far my preferred version of the magnificent Faure Requiem. The choir is superb, including the marvelous soloists, bass Thomas Allen and this terrific young treble, Dominic Harvey, who has such a pure voice and excellent delivery. The sensitive commentary by the late Sir John Gielgud and the visual blocking of the choristers and general impact of this entire performance 1980 performance are exceptional.
I wonder why they chose a men and boys only choir.
Why settle for anything less than the best?
