  • How to Free Motion Quilt, free motion stipple, and free motion embroidery on all sewing machines that have a zig-zag stitch. You will be shocked at just how easy it is to embroider and quilt on your current sewing machine using just the straight stitch. Even if your machine cannot lower the feed dogs. No puckers on your quilt ever! Sheryl Borden learns from Clare Rowley, Inventor of the amazing Octi-Hoops free motion embroidery frames. When Sheryl stated that I created the Octi-Hoops with my handicapped friend in mind (about 5.5 minutes into this video) and I corrected her.... she implied that you can quilt using only one hand and at the time of filming this video, I did not believe you could but you can! I tried this and uploaded a clip • Octi-Hoops quilting wi... showing how. And then I tried a larger quilt • Octi-Hoops-quilting la... - So there you go! You can even quilt if you are only able to use one hand! I'm so grateful to have been able to create these with so many benefiting from there design.... Feeling a bit emotional knowing you all can quilt :)

      nurselulu67 You're so sweet! Anyone who knows anyone with a disability understands how difficult it is to ever say "you can't" to them, and they drive me to push the limits so I can say "you absolutely can!" The reward for creating products for the physically and visually challenged is the beautiful bright smile that follows the realization that they actually can stay active in their creativity no matter what. There's nothing like the face of a person full of emotion and gratitude staring back at you..... nothing

    I understand your struggle with wanting to create projects to sell and am working with artists other than myself to bring even more designs to you! We're working together to help you work from home and profit without risk of a lawsuit. Of course there will be limits to how big you can get with an artists work but we're working on the details to make it available for you and I'll be posting on my newsletter from the creativefeet sit once they're all setup..

      Lynn Reedy Don't feel bad that you purchased an embroidery machine, I make the Hoop-It-All embroidery frames for embroidery machines too! You'll love them as well because they work "like" the Octi-Hoops, in-that they also use the stabilizer and you never actually have to "hoop" your fabric. I'm so glad you enjoyed the Octi-Hoops and yes, you do save money with them - a lot of money is saved when you don't have to purchase designs. :)

    1 number less than normal is the tension - as for the thread knotting up on the bottom - that is caused by not lowering the foot lever. Even though we don't use a foot, we still must lower the foot lever. :)

    Cindy Walraven, I don't know why, but I couldn't reply to your comment so, I hope you're able to see this reply to your question. Visit www.creativefeet.com and then click on the Embroidery link to learn more about the process and supplies needed. I personally don't use a darning foot or any foot for free motion most of the time. Keep watching more of the Octi-Hoops videos inside my Octi-Hoops playlist in RUclips to learn even more about them! Hi Clare
    Thankyou so much for such an inspireing You Tube!
    I think that I just heard you say that regarding the device you were promoting... That Anybody could use it, even somebody with one arm.
    I saw such a sad documentary this weekabout a woman who had lost her arm in the Bangladesh clothing factory collapse last year. She described how she had, had to remove her own arm as she was trapped and doctors were unable to reach her.
    She fears that she will never work again or be able to help support her family. I thought that she would appreciate your 'you tube' and maybe we could find her!

      Monika Evans Yes, my friend Teri has been filmed on one of my videos showing how to make a Polar Fleece blanket and she was able to embroider using the Octi-Hoops with only her left hand (her bad hand) as she had an aneurysm and I plan to have her on my show to show you how you can embroider and even set up the hoop using only one hand. She already embroidered something with it - I wish I filmed the first try, I was so pleased with her first time ever embroidering and just how pretty it turned out. On that segment we'll show her first project and I plan to have her on more often. Have an Inspired Day! ((HUG))

    I just saw this segment on Creative Living this morning and enjoyed it very much. However, I didn't understand what you meant at about the 8:50 mark when you said that you could stitch the sunflower--light yellow, medium yellow, dark center--without changing thread. How in the world do you do that? Thank you for your time!

      Our stock issue is being resolved. There are worse things than to sell too fast to keep up with production - but it's really hard on us and we have a large tool being made that will allow us to keep up with the sales of the Octi-HOOPS. Be sure to ORDER NOW as you'll be placed in the que and once you rise to the top, your order ships. We are constantly making these hoops and shipping. If you prefer to pay when it ships, you'll need to call your order in (800)776-6938 or Internationally/local (928) 775-3484

    Ruth, I watched the video and could not find where either one of us said Take followed by And - where did you hear it within the timeline? I was on 20 minutes sleep followed by 14 hours of driving on taping day,... we all try to be as precise as possible - the human condition does come into play when doing all things in-life... I could not find where we said these two words together, that apparently bothered you enough to write, so please help me hear where you heard it :)

    how often have you broken a needle?

    • @clare-rowley
      @clare-rowley  10 лет назад

      Breaking needles can happen if you use the "Needle Down" Option on your sewing machine. Be sure that IF your machine has a needle down option to use NEEDLE UP instead. Then, you'll find the needles will seldom break and normally it's a human OOPS moment and has nothing to do with not using a foot. :) I break on average 1 needle per 300 hours of non-stop sewing and it's normally something SILLY I do... darn human condition... ;)

      Clare Rowley why did you paint your machine? - just curious - never seen anything like that

    • @clare-rowley
      @clare-rowley  9 лет назад

      katjoy81 I painted my first sewing machine as a reaction to a sewing machine company copying a couple of my products - to hide the machine's brand and basically make it so no one would know what machine I was using. That was back in 1989, a long time ago - the people involved have long since left the sewing industry as I was very young and I try not to talk about the negative in life..... Now I'm known for sewing on painted sewing machines and proudly show that I'm using a Baby Lock machine because they haven't done anything to cross me and I sure do LOVE my Baby Lock machines! I personally feel odd when I'm sewing on a white sewing machine... lol ;)

    I couldn't follow this at all. It was very erratic. Besides the ineptness of the host, the instructor was jumping all over the place, interjecting all sorts of extraneous points that weren't helpful to an instructional video. Aaauggghh! Not worth the time.

    • @clare-rowley
      @clare-rowley  7 лет назад

      Happybidr It does take a bit of explaining to completely understand these wonderful hoops. I suggest watching more videos on my Octi-Hoops playlist. The host on this show was excited and taken off-guard by the uniqueness of these hoops as are you; watching the normal (not T.V. show) videos where I teach will be more helpful. Have a inspired day! :)
