Thank you thank you thank you for this video. I almost fell off my chair when I seen the date that you uploaded it to RUclips. Its amazing that 13 years later your videos are still being watched. 've learned more from this video than a ever did with the any other video on RUclips, With the others I always had more questions at the end of the other video's. I always felt it was a waste of time getting my Brother sewing machine which has been in storage ever since we moved almost 5 years ago. Now I'm getting excited about starting up sewing, quilting & now add embroidery again. You should be proud that after 13 years you're still teaching people like me. ❤️🤗🙃😉
Yes, a new process for a vintage technique, making it possible for new sewers to enjoy this once difficult technique. It's easy, relaxing and a great source of stress release. Good old-fashioned fun for the entire family :)
oh man, I used to create thread paintings professionally 20 years ago and well, it's great to see that not only is the art alive and well, it's progressed! Very cool products... I'm preparing to get back into it and I'm catching up. Shoot inkjet printers didn't even exist back then but I do recall printing designs on a dot matrix when I didn't just draw it freehand. Thanks for the video - it was informative and enjoyable. :)
Thank you so much for your kind remarks about the video and the products for free-motion embroidery. I used to print on paper years back as well. This is so much fun! (sorry, for some reason I am just now finding your email.)
The act of changing the thread is a simple process- As this is NOT an embroidery machine. So, when you want to use the next color you simply change the needle thread. The bobbin thread is not changed unless you want it to match the top thread. These are used on any sewing machine. If you know how to change your thread on your machine now this is a simple step.
We've been uploading videos in High Definition now - so you should be pleased to watch how we use the Octi-Hoops for Free-Motion embroidery by watching others on my channel. I was having problems with the cameras when I filmed this one... but everyone was begging me to post :) I've got better cameras now :)
In the video, I show that you can use a foot should you want to. I prefer to not use a foot. I also show that you have options of how you use your hands, however if you do not look at your fingers as you embroider, you won't sew over them. It's like watching oncoming headlights on a road; if you stare at them you will drive right into them. I rarely ever feel the need to place my fingers on the fabric.
>:O I didn't know any sewing machine could embroider!!!! Well see I got this sewing machine with a gameboy that controls it (it can embroider mario characters like a printer, automatically) I always thought it had to be done that way, but it's neat to see you can freehand embroideries!! Nice tip, will be getting a hoop.
You can sew out any size design because the hoops don't hold the fabric. You simply pull off the embroidery creating a hole in the adhesive stabilizer and then place your fabric down again.. repeating until whatever size design you want is complete. Using the Stick and Rinse template makes it so you can't hit the frame as your design becomes larger than the frame. If you watch the video on how to sew a company logo on a curtain, you'll see large design work.
With my Thread Dispenser, you're able to use most thread cone sizes. If you try to use the King Cones on your machine without a stand engineered for it, you'll experience inconsistent tension and thread breaking and shredding.
I'm so happy to see all the excitement with the Octi-Hoops and discovered that many posts were not replied to - I was learning how to use RUclips.. they've made it easier to find your comments, so I'll post faster from now on! ((HUG))
Yes you can print anything - a photo of your dog.. a photograph of flowers, a boat - you name it and the ink from an inkjet printer simply washes away in the water once you rinse :)
I noticed you used a Free Motion Pressure Foot at the end of the video. Is there a reason you needed to do that when you were doing the curly lines or can you do those without the foot? (WOW you sure get your fingers close to that needle!)
I used a thread on mini-king spools, however you are able to use King spools using the stand shown on the video which is called The Thread Dispenser found at the creativefeet site. (sorry, for some reason I am just now finding your email.)
This video was a segment of a larger video where we show how to print the image using your regular InkJet Printer and paper. 1) Write "Top upside down" on the top of a piece of printer paper. 2) Print out the image you want to embroider on a plain piece of paper. 3) Tape Stick and Rinse stabilizer with the matte finish side facing up. 4) Adhere Stick and Tear or Stick and Rinse to back of 1 of the 3 Octi-Hoop frames that come in the Octi-Hoop Kit. (they hold the fabric in the hoop and stick to the back of the frame) 5) Embroider 6) Remove from hoop by pulling inward toward embroidery. (a hole will be created that you may patch) 7) Rinse under warm water until all Stick and Rinse stabilizer rinses away.
Hi. This is a great product! I'm not clear on one thing. Can you print anything that you want onto the clear product? I've got an inkjet printer. Would that work? Thank you!
I only supply my own designs for use with our products as there are copyright issues with artists that I will never encourage anyone to break. I am not sure if you're wanting this for your personal use or for re-sale, if for yourself, you can print out ANY design to recreate on your own project for yourself or for a gift. So if you are able to locate a photo of it, you can print it and embroider what you see.
I have what might be a really stupid question are the spools embroidery thread, the spools with the locking feature, too big for a general sewing machine
@Kamala514 You don't have to be that coordinated - that's one of the best features! If you can color in a coloring book, you can embroider and free motion quilt using the Octi-Hoops :) You actually hold onto what feels like a crayon and your arms and elbows rest so you have more control.
Every Brother Sewing machine except for the Brother 8500D it's the only one that can't do free-motion of any kind. All other Brother sewing machines can accomplish the free motion procedure you see on the video and on all the others listed on my channel.
If the embroidery is larger than the frame, you'll simply remove the fabric from the hoop, add more Stick and Tear to the back of the frame, place the fabric back on the stabilizer and embroider more. There is NO LIMIT to the size of the embroidery you want to embroider!
Hi Clare I would just like to know how you get the different colors to come out on your pattern I'm just learning so this is probably a no brainer to some people but i would just like to know :)
Mildred Musimanga You can use them with Industrial sewing machines too and boy is it easier than using other hoops! You can ask your local sewing machine dealer or order from us at www.creativefeet.com
Christine Pierson I used 100% Polyester 40 weight embroidery quality thread on this because others will shrink after washing and then the shirt would have puckers. :)
This video was very poor as I couldn't make out the picture. There were lines distorting the picture. I would like to watch a better quality the next time. granny7x
this is okay.... but it looks a little choppy/messy. I think I would hand embroider before i tried to do it this way =D Looks like a nice product for people with arthritis maybe :)
